Annette frowned. She got up and walked to the door of the office.
She did not see Connor. Many teachers gathered in front of the door of every office.
Just as Annette was about to go downstairs to take a look, Connor appeared at the stairs.
He was holding a bouquet of blue roses in his arms and walked straight to her, ignoring the gazes of others.
Annette stood by the door, her eyes fixed on Connor's face as he approached.
Connor handed the flowers to her. His voice was not loud, but the teachers in the next office could hear him. "Did the fake news today scare you? Don't take it to heart, okay?"
Annette blinked and wondered, 'Is it appropriate for him to show up at this time?'
Her heart was beating fast.
Annette took the flowers and said, "I didn't take it seriously."
"That's good. Let's go and have lunch together."
Connor took Annette out of the school to a restaurant and ordered food.
While eating, Annette looked at him in a trance and said, "Is it appropriate for you to show up like this?"
"Why not?"
"If the rumors between you and Jessica weren't resolved, your appearance would be useless."
Connor curled his lips into a smile and said, "Didn't I tell you? This small matter is nothing to me."
Annette thought about it. That was right. Connor was the most powerful man in Akron.
She was a little surprised. She didn't know when she started to admire him so much.
"I like these flowers."
Connor looked at her and said gently, "What if the flowers were given by someone else? Will you still like it?"
Annette lowered her eyes and smiled shyly. "I am not sure."
Connor said unhappily, "That's not the answer I want."
Annette looked at him with a playful look. "Just think that I won't accept it."
She said it out loud deliberately.
Connor smiled dotingly. Anyway, he couldn't do anything to her.
"If you feel bad again, you have to tell me. Don't keep it in yourself, okay?"
Annette pursed her lips. She nodded and smiled.
After lunch, Connor sent her back to school.
He wanted to send her to the office building, but Annette refused.
Today, his appearance caused quite a stir.
No one in the school dared to gossip behind Annette's back, and it was enough.
Annette got out of the car at the school gate and walked to the campus.
She walked halfway when her phone rang.
Annette thought it was a call from Connor, but when she took out her phone, she saw it was from Zachary.
She picked up the phone and was in a good mood. She said, "Zachary."
Zachary's voice was a little deep. "Annette, can you come to the school gate?"
"Now?"
"Yes. I am at your school gate now."
"Okay." Annette hung up the phone. She turned around and trotted back to the school gate.
Zachary opened the car window and called out to her.
Annette walked over. She got into the car and sat in the passenger seat.
Zachary asked, "That's quick."
Annette smiled, "You came at the right time. I just came back from outside and didn't walk far. Zachary, why are you here?"
"Barbara saw the news and was worried about you. She asked me to come and check on you. Are you okay?" Zachary looked at Annette worriedly.
Annette said, "Zachary, I'm fine. That's fake news."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure." Annette nodded and smiled at Zachary.
Behind the greenery near the school gate, someone aimed his camera at Annette and Zachary in the car and pressed the shutter.
"But I asked around and heard that the news was written by their chief editor in person. I'm afraid that it might cause great trouble."
Annette smiled calmly. "It doesn't matter. Connor can handle it."
Zachary patted her on the shoulder and said, "That's right. Alpha Connor is so powerful. I think Barbara is overthinking. Annette, if you need my help, just tell me. I will do my best. It would be best if you were safe and sound and didn't need my help at all. That is what I hope the most."
"Okay. Say thanks to Barbara for me. I will visit you another day."
"Sure," Zachary said with a smile.
After chatting for a while, Annette got out of the car and watched Zachary leave.
When she returned to the office, Alanna looked at her with a smirk.
Annette frowned and smiled at Alanna, "Alanna, don't look at me like that."
Alanna said, "Annette, all the women in the school are envious of you. What Alpha Connor did just now was so romantic. It seems that you will have a wonderful night today."
Annette was stunned for a moment before reacting. She said in embarrassment, "Alanna."
Eden covered his ears with a smile. "I can't listen to such a topic."
Annette sighed. She sat down in her seat and said, "Fine. You guys win."
She took a nap for more than ten minutes, and her phone rang.
She received a message from Jennifer.
There was a photo.
It was a photo of Annette chatting with Zachary in the car.
They were smiling at each other.
Annette frowned. If someone else sent her such a photo, she might not have cared.
But it was Jennifer.
Annette had seen how paranoid Jennifer was.
She knew Jennifer wouldn't send her the photo for no reason.
She got up and took her phone out of the office. She called Jennifer.
Jennifer answered the phone quickly.
Annette said politely, "Ms. Burns, I would like to ask, what do you mean by sending me the photo?"
Jennifer said coldly, "Didn't you say that you are just Zachary's neighbor and friend?"
"We are. Is there a problem with that?"
"If the relationship between you and him is so simple, why are you dating in the car? Annette, you are so beautiful. Even if Alpha Connor broke up with you, you still had many choices. Why do you insist on seducing Zachary? He has experienced so many things with me. How can you snatch him away from me?"
Annette could not help but frown.
She said unhappily, "No one is snatching him away from you. We are friends. Please don't talk nonsense. Today, Zachary didn't come to me because he wanted to. Barbara was worried about me when she saw the news, so she asked Zachary to see me. Moreover, I have never broken up with Connor. We are pretty good."
Jennifer said angrily, "Alpha Connor announced his wedding plan. Do you think I'm blind? Everyone in the world knows the news, and do you still want to lie to me? I guessed that you wouldn't be able to marry Alpha Connor, and it proved to be correct. Stop your self-deception, and don't fool me with lies. Annette, since you are so confident, just prove it to me. As long as you help me reconcile with Zachary, I will believe that you have not broken up with Connor."
Annette stared at the phone resignedly and said, "It's your problem. You want me to help you make up with Zachary to prove that I did not break up with Connor? Is it necessary?"
