"Alina, I'll remind you once again. You have a mate, and your husband is named Lucas. I also have a mate, and my wife is Annette. Do you get it?"
"I can't. Even if I do, I am unable to control my feelings for you." Alina lowered her eyes and said, "I can't forget about you, and I know it is unfair to Ms. Hall. That's why I can't tell her my worries."
Alina looked at Connor with tears in her eyes.
"Do you think I haven't tried it? I can't do it, or I won't stand so humbly in front of you."
"Enough." Connor stood up and couldn't bear to listen to Alina any longer. "Don't say anymore. You should go back."
He turned around and walked back to the house.
Alina got up and stepped forward quickly to stop him.
She was running fast and did not notice that the lawn under her feet was slippery. She fell accidentally.
She cried out in pain.
Hearing the sound, Connor turned around.
Seeing Alina fall, he frowned.
Alina was pregnant with Lucas' child, and nothing could happen to her child.
Connor helped her up and asked, "Are you alright?"
Alina took a deep breath and shook her head. "My belly hurts."
Connor contacted Dwayne immediately.
"Ms. Grace fell. Tell the driver to take her to the hospital."
Alina grabbed Connor's hand and held it tightly.
However, Connor shook off her hand.
Alina was disappointed. "Do you hate me so much?"
"I won't be close to any woman other than Annette. It's my responsibility. I won't hurt her."
"What about me? You hurt me. You used to love me, didn't you?"
Connor said indifferently, "You also know that it was in the past."
Alina lowered her eyes.
Connor helped her up.
At that time, Dwayne jogged over with several pack guards.
Annette followed behind him worriedly.
Connor asked Dwayne to handle Alina.
"Send Ms. Grace to the hospital and inform Lucas on the way."
"Don't tell Lucas," Alina stopped Dwayne and said, "He cares a lot about the child. I don't want him to worry about me. I am fine. If there is something wrong, I will contact him myself."
Dwayne turned to look at Connor.
Connor nodded slightly.
Dwayne said to Alina, "Ms. Grace, let's go."
Alina stared at Connor and seemed to have something to say.
But before she could speak, her eyes swept over Annette. In the end, she did not say anything.
Annette walked to Connor.
Connor asked, "Why did you come out?"
"I heard from Dwayne that Ms. Grace fell. I'm a little worried."
"It's fine. She just didn't stand stably. Let's go back and have dinner." Connor wrapped his arm around Annette's shoulder and walked into the house.
Annette asked with worries, "Don't you go with Ms. Grace and take a look? What if something happens to her baby?"
"I'm not a doctor. I can't help much even if I go."
For some reason, Annette was happy to hear that.
At night, Dwayne returned.
He went to report Alina's condition to Connor.
"Alpha Connor, Ms. Grace is fine. The doctor suggested that she stay in the hospital for two days. I was going to stay there, but Ms. Grace was worried that no one would take care of you and asked me to come back."
Connor replied coldly, "That's good. Go tell Lucas that he doesn't have to worry."
"Okay."
Dwayne left. Annette put down the book and looked at Connor. "Should we go see Ms. Grace tomorrow?"
"Why should we go?"
Annette said, "I have to do a prenatal checkup. Too many things have happened recently, and I don't want to be questioned by reporters. Ms. Grace happens to be in the obstetrics and gynecology department. For Lucas, we have to go and see her. So, I don't see why we shouldn't go."
Connor said, "I'll go with you tomorrow."
Annette nodded. "Okay."
It was getting late. They were ready to sleep. Annette lay down and faced Connor.
"What did Lucas say? He knows that we have become mates. He must be angry, right?"
Connor didn't say a word.
Annette quickly said, "If it's not convenient for you to tell me, it's fine. I don't want you to be in a quandary."
"Don't mind what he thinks. I've told you many times that his idea is not important."
Connor rubbed Annette's head and said, "Go to sleep. Keep in a good mood. I'll always be by your side no matter what happens."
Annette nodded. Just as she closed her eyes, Connor lowered his head and kissed her lips.
She opened her eyes and looked at him.
Connor hugged her from behind.
"Good night," Annette said softly.
At noon the next day, they went to the hospital together.
They first went to Alina's ward.
Alina smiled when she saw them.
"Connor, Ms. Hall, why are you here?"
Alina was calm. It was as if she had never pestered Connor last night.
Connor said coldly, "Annette comes for a prenatal checkup and also takes the chance to visit you."
Annette stepped forward and asked, "Ms. Grace, are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
Then, they had nothing to talk about.
Connor said, "Let's go and do a prenatal checkup."
Alina immediately said, "Connor, wait a moment. I have something to ask you."
She said to the nurse, "Please take Ms. Hall for a prenatal checkup..."
Connor interrupted her, "I will accompany Annette for the prenatal checkup. If you have something to say, go ahead."
Alina clenched her fists under the blanket.
She smiled and looked at Annette. "Ms. Hall, can I talk with Connor for a few minutes alone?"
Annette glanced at Connor. She didn't want the two people who had once been in love to talk alone. However, Alina was pregnant, and Annette hoped that Alina could think things through as soon as possible. Although Connor told Annette not to care about Lucas' thoughts, she knew that he cared a lot about Lucas.
"I'll wait for you at the door."
Annette turned around and went out. Alina also sent the nurse out.
Only Connor and Alina were left in the ward. Connor said coldly, "So? Haven't you finished your words last night?"
Alina nodded. "That's right. Why didn't you come with me to the hospital last night? Aren't you worried about me?"
"I'm not a doctor. I couldn't help you even if I came."
"Then why did you accompany Annette for a prenatal checkup today? You're not a doctor and won't be able to help her."
Connor said unhappily, "Do you have to ask the obvious question? Annette is my mate, and you are Lucas' mate. I hope you can make it clear."
Tears welled up in Alina's eyes.
Connor looked away from her face. He continued, "I thought you had a question. Go ahead and ask."
"You are living a happy life now, right?"
Connor nodded without hesitation. "Yes."
"Alright, I understand. You can leave now."
Connor turned around immediately.
Before he could take a step, Alina said from behind him, "Connor, remember that in this world, there is a woman who has truly loved you for many years. Between us, there must be at least one to be happy. Since you are happy now, I am satisfied. Don't worry, I will help you clear all the obstacles in front of you."
Connor turned around and asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
