His Forbidden Soulmate

Chapter 42

Ch. 43 / 44 Oct 20, 2023

Jurius

We held hands as I followed her home.

"This is my stop here?" I halted, causing her to stop as well.

"Please stay a little longer with me." She gently squeezed my hand, not wanting me to leave.

"I can't."

I wanted to, but my head kept ringing with my dad calling me telepathically, wanting me to come home.

"When will I see you again?" Her hand let go of mine, and it folded.

I drew closer to her.

"Tomorrow, when I return from the wolf shifter councilors,"

Her eyes closed as I leaned in to kiss her forehead, and they opened as I stood straight.

"Promise?" she said.

"With all of my heart."

She smiled for a while until it disappeared with worries.

"I hope they'll allow us to be together."

"Me too." My arms were wrapped around her.

Dad was standing on the porch, anxiously waiting for me to return.

"Finally, you're here," he said telepathically as he spotted me.

He left the porch and met me in the middle of our land.

"Why were you taking so long?" He shoved me across the land, sending me straight back into the forest. I rolled along the earth, gathering dust.

As I was about to stand to my feet, he was before me, ready to strike again. I dodged his attack this time by leaping into a tree.

I was surprised I could leap that far.

I looked down to hear Dad laughing.

"Let's see what else you can do, leader of all alphas," Dad said fiercely as his eyes darted into mine.

I realized he was testing me.

I leaped from the tree, and I growled aggressively, ready to reveal my new abilities.

Dad gave a sinister smile.

My eyes changed, and I ran to him with a violent approach.

He tried to strike me in the gut, but his speed was not up to mine. I smirked as I kept dodging his every attack.

Dad became irritated by my laugh, and his claw emerged. I allowed him to take a hit.

"I don't want you to feel sorry for me!" he yelled as he stopped.

My skin was now bleeding from his attack, and within a second, it was healing. I even heal faster than I usually do.

"I want to hear that terrible growl again!" Dad yelled.

I growled louder, then I stopped as I saw dad's clothes torn from his body.

I ran over to catch him as he dropped tiredly to his knees before he could land on his face.

"My son is the alpha of all alphas," he said proudly.

I smiled.

For a long time, my dad hasn't been so proud of me because of Freya. It felt good that he was.

"Dad," I called.

He lifted his body from me, slowly regaining his strength.

"Please get to know Freya. I know you'll love her too," I said.

"I'll try, and I'll inform your mom about it too."

I was so overjoyed by his comment that I hugged him.

"Not too tight son," he retorted in pain.

"I'm sorry." I forgot how strong I was.

Dad wanted to leave first thing tomorrow to see the wolf-shifter council. He wanted everything to be resolved, and the faster we get there, hopefully, we won't have to deal with them again. Unless it was the wolf-shifter meeting where all the alphas gathered to discuss the issues they were facing outside of their pack and how they could be resolved. It was kept biannually.

I didn't sleep that night. I kept worrying if they would allow Freya to be in my life. I didn't want to lose her.

We drove off in the morning before the sun rose. Our journey was a twelve-hour ride. Dad was silent along the way. I sensed how nervous he was, as I am. It felt strange picking up nervousness from my dad, for I've never known him to be nervous but always confident. That's why he was a great alpha. I turned on the radio to kill the silence.

Within six hours, the car stopped at a gas station. While the gas was being filled with diesel, I went inside to get food for me and Dad. The gas tank was full when I got out. I gave him his drink and a chicken sandwich, and we continued our journey.

As we drove further away from home, I wished Freya was next to me.

"I wish you were here, Jurius. Town of Forgotten is not the same without you." I hear Freya's sad voice in my head.

My body jumped, startled that I could hear her.

"Are you okay?" Dad asked.

"I'm fine," I said, fixing myself in the front seat.

"Freya," I called her telepathically, trying to see if I were able to speak telepathically to her from a long distance now that I was the alpha of alpha or if I was hearing things, for I missed her badly.

"Jurius," she retorts, just as surprised as me.

"Where are you? Are you close by?" she asked.

"I'm nearly 12 hours away from you."

"Okay. I can now speak back to you," she says in amusement.

"I know, my abilities are much stronger now."

"Are you fine?" I asked concern about her.

"I am now since I can speak to you," she said in a better tone.

I smiled.

"I'm at the Wolf Shifter Council now. I'll see you when I get back. I love you," I said my goodbye.

"Yes, I love you too."

We pulled up to a large iron gate, and behind it was a gigantic light brown building that looked like a castle. An ancient one.

The car stops at the gate.

"They're expecting us," Dad informed the guard.

Immediately, the guard opened the gate. Dad didn't need to identify himself, for he was a well-known alpha for his skills.

The other guard, in full black, escorted us in the car to the back of the humongous building.

As we arrived at the back, he beckoned us where to park it and then directed us to follow him into the building. We took a step down, and soon we were standing at a dark, shiny double door.

He pushed open the door, and we entered a large, light gray room. It had high benches with four males, whom I assumed were the higher council members who looked down at us in their high seats.

My head turned to look behind me as I heard the door lock. The one who was escorting us had left.

"Good evening, councillors," Dad respectively greeted them.

I followed.

One of his councilors immediately left his seat and came to inspect me. His eyes were teeming with amusement.

"Reveal your new eyes," he said.

My eyes changed.

"Splendid," he said excitedly.

Another came from his chair intently to see my eyes.

"How could this be an alpha of all alphas standing before us after a thousand years?" he said in amazement.

They soon both returned to their seats.

"We understand that you have a human mate and choose to disregard our rule to kill her," said the counselor.

"I love her, and I can't," I confessed.

"How can an alpha of alpha possess a human mate? Shouldn't he be weak?" they reason among themselves.

I growled in irritation, and immediately the room was filled with silence.

"As the alpha of alpha, don't I have a saying in this? To keep my human soulmate."I broke the silence.

"Yes, your new title does, for you are the king of all alpha's, and as a lower wolf to you, we have to obey your rules," one answered.

"Then I want all human mates to stop being killed, for they are not to be blamed for being paired with us, wolf shifters," I demanded.

"Do you understand that this rule has been in place for many years to also protect our kind, for if humans were to know about us? Not all will accept us. They will see us as a threat, and there will be an unstoppable battle between us.

My head lowered, agreeing with his comment, and I wish there was another way to save innocent beings.

"If your human soulmate will protect your secret of our kind, then we cannot come between you, even if some of us are against it, for your status is higher than ours."

My attention went back to them, and I nodded.

He continued. "However, as an alpha of all alphas, one day your wolf may outgrow your love for her and see her as a weak Luna of all Lunas, and then you will have no choice but to kill her."

"I will never." I strongly disagreed.

"I can't say I didn't warn you," he added.

"Thank you for allowing my son to keep his soulmate. I will train him to be a great alpha of alphas," said Dad.

"Like we have any choice. However, it is not your job to train him, but ours. Your son and his mate will have to dwell with us."

I was surprised by their remarks.

"High councilor, I understand you, but please give me some time with my son before he dwells with you." Dad pleaded, not wanting to let me go so fast.

"It will be his choice. His wolf will one day push him to dwell among us, for here is where he belongs. Where his rightful throne is"

"We will be waiting for you, Jurius," a councilor said as they all stood up. They all nodded, respectively, and left through a dark door behind them.

We were soon on our way back. The counselor said that one day I would leave my pack. I could smell sadness in my dad.

"Dad, though one day I will leave, I will always look at you as a great alpha." I tried to cheer him up.

The car slowed down and stopped at the side of the road.

"I've been training you for so long to one day take over my pack, and soon you'll be leaving me," he said sadly.

"Remember, I'll be the higher alpha of your pack, and so I will still be leading it, but from a distance," I said.

He smiled and said proudly, "I'm the father of an alpha of alphas."

The car soon started.

It was 1 a.m. when I arrived at Forgotten Land. I didn't go back home with Dad. I went to see Freya after all. I made a promise to her that I would see her as soon as I got back.

I was surprised to see her standing by her window, looking into the forest. I walked into the moonlight, and when she saw me, she leaped with joy. I climbed up to her window.

"Are they going to let us stay together?" she asked curiously.

"Yes," I said with a smile.

Freya leaped and hugged me.

I returned her hug and didn't bother to mention the warning the council gave me about us--that one day I may no longer love her, for I didn't believe it. I loved her too much to stop loving her.

"As the alpha of alpha, you will have to dwell with me along with the councilors one day." I told her.

"As long as we'll always be together, I don't mind," she said, holding me tightly.

"Yes, my Luna of all Lunas."

She smiled at me, and we kissed.
