His Forbidden Soulmate

Chapter 39

Ch. 40 / 44 Oct 20, 2023

Freya

I wanted to turn back around, but my vehicle stopping in front of the driveway somehow allowed her to know I'd arrived.

A bad feeling ran through my gut as she exited the door and stood on the porch.

Carefully, I drove the car along the driveway, and I took five minutes before leaving the vehicle.

If Jurius hadn't been waiting for me in my room, I would have turned the car around and driven away.

I know why my mom was here; it was because of what had happened to me.

My head lowered, not wanting to see her face as I walked to the house.

"Hey honey," she stopped me on the first step to the porch, causing my head to be raised.

In her eyes, which were as dark as mine, I could see guilt. I know she didn't want to be here and that she was because of Zara and Grandma.

"Mom," I said in my throat as I went inside.

Whatever she was here to say, I wasn't interested or cared to know.

"Are you doing much better since what happened?" I heard her as I opened the front door.

I was so angry at her question that I immediately spun around.

"Yes, I am fine. Now you can go back to your man, happily knowing that I am."I yelled and ran inside.

"Is that what you think I'm here for?" she asked.

I didn't bother to answer. I went upstairs.

"Freya!" Grandmother called, coming from the kitchen.

I ignored her and went to my room.

Jurius sat up from my bed the moment I entered my room. I locked the door and ran over to him, kissing him.

He gave me a single kiss, and he pulled himself away from me.

I looked at him, stunned.

"Please hear what your mom has to say," he begged me.

"No, not you too," I said, upset.

Jurius firmly held both of my hands in his.

"Do it for me," he said.

"Fine," my head turned away from his angrily.

He kissed me on the cheek, and all my anger disappeared.

I smiled.

"I'll be waiting for you," he smiled back at me.

My mom, along with Zira and Zoey, were sitting in the living room when I got downstairs.

My mom was surprised to see me. She didn't think I would want to hear what she had to say.

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked eagerly for whatever she was here for to be over with so I could return to Jurius.

"Be nice," Jurius said telephatically in my head.

I took a long breath in an attempt to exhale.

"Have a seat." My mom pats a chair next to her.

Zira and Zoey left the living room as I did.

"I've been thinking a lot about us after I was told you were in the hospital," she explained.

My head was kept lowered, looking at my toes as I ran it over the soft, fluffy carpet.

"I want us to have a healthy relationship as a daughter and a mother should, and in order for that, I want you to return with me."

Right away, my attention went to her.

"No, I'm not going anywhere with you," I announced as I stood up.

"Jack now has a settled job in Jettervile; he'll be the manager of a major company there, and I think it would be good for you to move in with us so we can resolve whatever issue is affecting you."

"You are the issue," I said, looking at her.

And before she could say anything else to me, I was running back upstairs.

Jurius was seated on the edge of the bed when I returned to my room. His head was lowered.

He had heard what my mom had said.

His head rose to meet mine as I sat next to him and touched his hand.

"I'm not going anywhere," I told him.

"This isn't your choice," he said as he sat up.

I watched him as he sadly walked to the window and stood with his back turned.

I went over to him and wrapped my arms around him from behind.

"My life was a mess without you; there's no way I'm going back to it. I feel at peace when I'm by your side," I said.

Jurius spins around.

"Promise me you will stay," he said as he peered into my eyes.

"With every part of me," I softly told him.

His head lowered to mine, and we kissed. There was something special about his lips caressing mine; I don't know if it was a wolf shifter thing, for I've never been kissed by a human boy. Jurius kisses always felt like a first kiss and felt even better whenever we did them. I'm always craving more of his smugs.

"Freya," I heard my grandmother at the door.

"I'll see you tomorrow at the same place and time where we met today," Jurius said, giving me a sweet kiss on the cheek.

I watched him as he leaped through the window and ran into the forest.

"Freya," I again heard my grandmother say.

I went to open the door, and as I did, I saw that it was not her alone; Zira was also there.

"It is best you go with your mom," Zira said, and Grandmother nodded.

I cannot believe they both wanted me to.

"No, I'm happy here," I said.

"You aren't," they both disagreed.

"Please just give me two weeks, and you'll see that I truly am," I begged.

I became motionless the moment I saw my mom coming upstairs, acting as if she cared anything about my feelings but hers.

Angrily, my attention shifted from hers.

"Grandma, I have a best friend, and I've never had one before; please don't let me leave," I again pleaded.

"You have a best friend," I heard my mom say.

"Yes." My head kept away from hers as I answered her gravely.

"If it's so, I won't force you to leave."

I looked at her. She nods with a smile.

"Well, if it's so, you can stay here," agreed my grandmother.

A large smile appeared on my face, and I hugged them.

"Thank you," I said.

I was happy I wasn't leaving. I have no idea how I'd live without Jurius.

Though my mother and I had been dwelling together, she seemed like a stranger to me for the past months we've separated. It felt strange saying goodbye to her, and her hug felt uncomfortable.

I watched her vehicle as she drove away.

The next day, I couldn't wait to get to school to see Jurius and tell him that I wouldn't be leaving him. When I did, I was surprised to see everyone staring at me. Curious about their constant staring, I looked at them strangely.

"Everyone wants to know, how did you get Jurius to fall for you?" Becky, Dolly's friend, said to me as she pulled me to her locker.

I stared at her, startled by the news.

"Did Dolly tell you this?" I pulled my hand from hers.

Before she could answer, I was being pulled away by Jurius's brother.

"Jurius wants you to leave with your mother; you're not safe here," Tate said.

"Where is he?" I asked.

"He's not here. The Werewolf Council found out about you. You need to leave now," Tate again urged me.

He unhanded me, and I watched him with pain in my heart as he walked away.

I was so angry, I went to search for Dolly.

Dolly's car was driving onto the school compound when I was exiting the building.

I approached her as her car stopped.

"Freya!" she said with a bright smile as she got out of the car.

"How could you?" I said it angrily.

"About what?" she asked as if she didn't know.

"You promised me you'd never tell anyone about Jurius, and you broke it." I was so mad at her.

"Freya,I didn't," she tried to explain.

I didn't want to hear anything from her, so I walked away.

"Freya, Freya!" Dolly chased after me.

I got into my car and drove away in tears.
