His Forbidden Soulmate

Chapter 35

Ch. 36 / 44 Oct 20, 2023

Freya

Since Jurius's departure, I've not ceased to cry. My grandmother and Zira had returned home to find me lying on the floor, drenched in tears.

They surrounded me with their concerns.

"What happened, Freya? Why are you crying? My grandmother asked, disturbed, as she embraced me in her arms.

I couldn't tell her.

She and Zira supported me on the bed, and I curled into a ball.

Screams suddenly took over my room.

My grandmother sprinted downstairs, and Zira sat next to me, assuring me that everything would be okay.

For a little while, I felt as if I were unconscious. I had no clue what had transpired.

"Why were you screaming? I asked as I tried to sit up, but Zira demanded that I not.

"You had a fit from crying too long," she then explained.

"But don't worry," she again assured me.

"Your grandmother has gone to call the family doctor."

"I don't need a doctor," I tried to tell her as my eyes closed tiredly.

My cheeks and back of my head were all sore from crying for so long, but the pain I had inside from losing Jurius was much more unbearable.

Doctor Glacia had arrived. She did a quick check-up and later informed my grandmother and grandaunt Zira that I had a breakdown from excess stress and that I needed to see a psychologist.

Before she left, she gave me some pills to help with sleeping in case I might need them.

"I don't need to see a shrink," I shared with my grandmother.

"You need to, Freya, for these feelings you keep bottling up will damage you."

I sheathed my head with my pillow, needing to be left alone.

In the evening, I received a call from my mother. My grandmother had told her what had happened.

I wasn't interested in talking to her; all I wanted was to be left alone, away from everyone but Jurius.

The next day, I was prepared to attend school. I went downstairs and grabbed an apple before leaving.

Zira and my grandmother were surprised to see me go to school.

"It would be good if you missed school for the day to start seeing the psychologist," my grandmother suggested.

"No, I want to go to school," I told her. Tears sprang from my eyes as I did.

I was only interested in going to school because I needed to see Jurius.

"Okay," my grandmother said as she approached me and held me by both hands.

"But promise me something," she then said.

"What?" I asked as I wiped away my tears.

"You will see the psychologist every day after school."

I gave a nod.

She and Zira hugged me before I went.

When I got to school, I looked for Jurius' automobile. His car was nowhere to be found. I thought he was on his way, but he didn't show up for history class. I assumed he had been excused from class due to the upcoming championship, but I didn't see him during lunchtime either.

Days passed, and Jurius was still absent from school. I kept looking over at the table where he, his brother, and close friends sat, hoping to see him, but I never did.

Freya! Dolly called as she ran over to me.

I opened my car's front door and waited for her.

"My friends and I are going to the mall to purchase our dress. Are you interested in coming?" she asked.

"I'm sorry, I can't; I have to be home early."

"Okay, drive safely," she said, and she ran off.

I watched her as she did, and suddenly I was aware that I was being watched by Jurius's brother.

His attention immediately left mine as he noticed, and he got into his car along with a blonde. I believed her to be his mate, given how close they were.

Every day when I arrived at school, I looked for Jurius' automobile. I'd know he wasn't coming if I didn't see his car. I sincerely hoped he had traveled with his brother's car to school, but he was never present at his customary lunch table.

"Freya, Freya! I heard Dolly call.

My head was brought to her.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine," I answered.

She and her friends examined me, concerned.

"I'm going to the girl bathroom," I said as I sat up and walked away.

They gave a nod.

I went into the bathroom and locked myself in the toilet area. I cried. After the day Jurius fled from me, it was difficult not to think about him. And the more I did, the more grief I felt.

Dr. Wendy, my psychologist, has begun to meet me after school. My first session with her was completely wordless. I remained silent. She attempted to get me to talk, but I was adamant about not saying anything. Because I wasn't interested, I asked my grandmother to cancel our appointment, but she never did.

I felt compelled to attend Dr. Wendy's not just after school but also on weekends. After twelve sessions with her and seventeen days without seeing Jurius, I began to cry because I couldn't handle the sense of being alone and abandoned any longer.

"Could you please allow me to assist you? Dr. Wendy begged.

"You can't help me," I explained.

I couldn't tell her I was mated to a wolfshifter and that our love was forbidden because we were two different species.

At the end of yet another unsuccessful session. Dr. Wendy pointed Zira to another psychologist because our time together was wasted.

My grandmother and Zira were concerned about how skinny I'd gotten because I'd dropped a lot of weight, as were Dolly and her friends. At lunchtime, I could see how worried they were around the lunch table.

When I was putting away my math textbook in my locker, I noticed Jurius's brother staring at me once more. I shut my locker and was going to approach him when Dolly stepped in front of me.

"Freya!" she called.

I fixed my gaze on her.

"The girls and I are very worried about you," she admitted.

Her eyes were skimming my very slender physique.

My arms were virtually wrapped around me, and her gaze was drawn to my eyes.

"I'm fine," I told her.

"Well, you don't seem to look like it," she pointed out.

"I can see your collarbone, and you look like you're soon to die from malnutrition," she added.

Her statements enraged me, and I walked away.

"Freya!" she exclaimed.

"I apologize. We are simply concerned about you."

"I wish you and everyone would leave me alone," I curse as I walk down the corridor.

I suddenly felt lightheaded, and the room began to spin. I felt my body weakening, and I collapsed onto the floor.

"Freya!" Before my eyes closed, I heard Dolly yell.
