Freya
I was awakened in the hospital, and I caught sight of a needle jammed into the front of my elbow. I discovered I was hooked up to a drip. My grandma, who was sitting next to me in the room, noticed I'd gotten up and promptly stood up.
"I'm going to get the nurse," she said as she stormed out the door.
Shortly after, she returned with a nurse.
I watched as the nurse connected me to a new bag of drips.
"Dr. Weather will be here soon," the nurse said to my grandmother before leaving.
My grandmother approached me and softly touched my face. And my gaze was drawn to her.
"Why are you causing yourself harm by dealing with your problems on your own, child?" she asked, concerned.
My attention shifted away from her.
"Can't you see my sister and I are willing enough to help you? Why are you refusing to accept it? She stated.
"You can't help me," I wailed, removing her hand from my cheek.
"Please give us a chance," my grandmother begged.
It never occurred to me that my actions were having a significant impact on my grandmother and grandaunt. I then realized I had to forget Jurius, as painful as it was, for the sake of my grandmother and Zira.
I cannot cause them to worry any longer because they've been such great supporters of me.
My grandmother helped me as I sat up.
"I'll allow you to aid me," I said, wiping my tears.
She smiled at me.
Dr. Weather had entered the room. In his hand, he had a report with him.
He reviewed the report and told my grandmother that I was highly stressed and that my blood pressure was low as a result of the stress. I needed a lot of rest and to eat healthily.
The doctor then gave my grandmother a prescription and some complimentary iron tablets.
"Dr. Weather, can I go home now?" I asked desperately to leave.
I was not too fond of the hospital.
Yes, you can, but after your drip is completed."
I gave a nod.
I was taken home immediately after my drip was completed. My grandmother pushed me into a wheelchair at the hospital's back entrance. Zira was waiting for us outside. They both assisted me in getting into the car, and Zira drove us home.
I was blissful when I arrived home. I wanted to be alone in my room.
Zira offered to help me upstairs, but I told her I was okay.
"Do you want me to make you a chicken sandwich?" she yelled downstairs.
"Yes, please."
When I got inside my room, I was surprised to see Jurius standing by my open window. I ran to him, and he spread his arms wide and held me tightly.
"I thought I'd never see you again," I said, blithely squeezing him in my arms.
"I heard what happened," he said in a low, concerned tone.
My arms left his body as I stepped away, and my gaze went to his eyes, which were weighted with worries.
"Were you harming yourself because of me?" he asked, troubled.
My attention went to the floor, not knowing what to say, and tears blurred my vision.
"Why are you torturing me? he asked in an aching voice.
I raised my head to him as tears flowed from my eyes, and in his eyes, I witnessed how weary he was. I was so excited to see him that I didn't realize he had dark circles under his eyes from not getting enough sleep.
"I'm sorry," I tried to say.
"I asked my brother to keep an eye on you to see if you were doing fine without me, but all he could smell on you was grief and sadness, which made me worry about you night and day," Jurius explained.
"I haven't gotten a good sleep because of you, and hearing that you were in the hospital, I knew I had to see you before something even worse happened."
I felt terrible that his remark about my pain was adding more pain to his.
"If I'd known, I would have tried to be stronger," I wailed.
Jurius's warm hands cupped my face, and he kissed me on the forehead.
"Don't blame yourself. We are soulmates; it's not going to be easy for us to go our own ways," said Jurius.
"Then how can we both get over this?" I asked.
He positioned my face next to his by tilting it.
"We don't."
My face contorted with confusion.
"We will live our love lives secretly," Jurius explained.
A smile of contentment illuminated my face. Soon Jurius's head lowered for a kiss.
We heard a knock on the door before we could kiss.
"I'll see you again," he said.
I wished he didn't have to leave so soon, not after not seeing him for more than seventeen days.
Jurius gave me a short kiss, and I watched him as he dashed through the forest.
"Freya, are you okay?" I heard Zira.
I ran to open the door.
"I'm fine," I answered.
Zira gave me the sandwich she had made along with a tall glass of apple juice.
I locked the door as she left.
I was too happy to eat, so I placed the tray of food on my bedside table.
