From Gamma to Luna

Chapter 15

Ch. 15 / 98 Jan 10, 2026

Erika's POV

I felt down being ignored by Derek. I should be happy that he accepted my suggestion, but I didn't feel as satisfied as I thought. He might be savage and cruel, but it was the first time he ignored me. We just came back from dating and it seemed that we could finally stop fighting each other and sat together to talk peacefully. But I ruined it. I did the right thing but I felt bad about myself.

Maybe nothing would be right before I got out of this hell place.

The teaching began in the afternoon, which I enjoyed very much. Angel learned very quickly and she was talented at fighting. I was pretty confident that with my help, she could defeat that young man called "Carl". It wouldn’t be an easy fight, but I believed that she could make it. Although she hadn’t much training in fighting, she actually fought a lot with her cousin. She was talented and strong. Besides, her gift was moving fast, which could make her a good fighter. With her fast speed, she could avoid attacks that ordinary fighters weren’t able to avoid. She could also speed up in a short time, which could make her attacks more frightening. However, her best weapon was her urge to win. While it might only be an ordinary fight with her enemy, it meant a lot to Angel and she couldn’t afford to lose it. So I didn’t worry about the punishment at all.

The only thing that bothered me was Derek.

On the very day I challenged his authority, he left alone and didn’t come back until late at night. Honestly, I was not sure if he came back that night. I didn’t see him and just fell asleep. The next morning, I overslept and when I woke up, he was nowhere to be seen. My wolf was being a real bitch for not seeing him.

On the second morning, I woke up alone again. I touched his pillow and it was cold. The scent of him on the pillow drove my wolf crazy so I held it tight in my arms and sniffed it. I was surprised to find that my hands had healed and I could summon daggers again. It would be a good chance to escape since he wasn’t in the house, but I wouldn’t risk challenging him while he was already angry with me.

On the one hand, I was happy that Angel made tremendous progress with my help. I asked Angel to pick a weapon that she liked. She picked a sword and was good at it. I found that the warriors in this pack were strong, but I didn’t see them using weapons very often. On the second hand, when I came back and faced the empty house alone, I was plunged into a bad mood. I should be happy that I didn’t have to face him and be carried by him everywhere I went, but actually, it made me sad. It must be the mate bond! The emotional swings almost drove me crazy.

Things changed on the third day.

This morning, I taught Angel how to use the sword while moving very fast. Considering that she didn’t have much experience in real fights, I asked her to fight me as practice.

We were training at a secret yard that Angel used to practice by herself. Seldom people would pass here and we could practice without being disturbed.

Angel could give really hard blows while she sped up. Even I found it hard to avoid her attack. But she would freak out when she was at a disadvantage, which could be fatal in real fights. So the goal of the practice today was to get her mentally prepared.

However, after one hour of training, a third person came over.

Before she showed up, the sound of stilettos on the ground could be heard. We stopped training and looked in the direction of the sound. It was a striking woman with wavy hair and delicate makeup in a suit. She walked over slowly, but in a beautiful way. Her body swayed slightly while she walked.

Who is she? I mind-linked Angel.

"She’s Emma, an ordinary pack member. She’s rich and influential." Angel whispered to my ears.

The woman’s gaze was fixed on me. It seemed that she came here for me.

Is that all? I asked Angel through mind-link.

Angel’s eyes flickered before she added, "She’s Alpha Derek’s ex-girlfriend."

Hum, I see. I mind-linked Angel.

I crossed my arms and looked at this woman, wondering what she wanted to do.

"You are his mate, right?" she walked toward me and asked.

Yes, I mind-linked her.

"Oh, right, you can’t talk. I should’ve felt happy for him. But it’s interesting that the Moon Goddess chose a mute girl for Alpha Derek," she sneered. It seemed that she bore a strong hostility toward me despite her efforts to conceal it.

For your information, I’m also the Luna of the pack. I mind-linked her. She didn't seem like a fighter and I didn't want to shut her up with violence. She'd better finish her nonsense and leave this place.

"Oh, really? What were you doing just now? Fighting? I don’t think that’s what a Luna should do."

"Alpha Derek agrees that Luna can teach me." Angel stepped forward and argued.

"Who are you? I’m not talking to you." Emma scolded her.

Angel sneered and rolled her eyes.

"A piece of advice, Alpha Derek can tolerate an ambitious lover, but he needs a submissive mate. And that’s also what the pack needs. You’d better stop this ridiculous fighting thing. It’s not allowed."

None of your business. I mind-linked her and shot her a warning glance. I was getting impatient with this pretentious and affected woman.

Suddenly she walked over, trying to grasp my sword. I tilted my body and didn’t let her touch my weapon. She deserved being thrashed for trying to get my weapon. But my time was limited and I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it.

She lost her balance and stumbled, almost falling to the ground. After she steadied herself, she glared at me. "OK. Then I’ll submit it to all the pack leaders to discuss it."

I sneered at her words.

"Don’t bother." A male’s voice sounded before I said anything.

It was Derek’s voice. I thought that I might hear voices. But when I turned around, I saw him walking over looking at Emma. He was in a long black overcoat and there were dark circles under his eyes. Did he come here to stand up for her ex-girlfriend?
