Derek’s POV
How is the meeting today? She asked through mind-link.
“Very successful. We had settled on many things about the cooperation.”
Good. She replied to me.
We held each other’s hands, walked to the dining room, and sat down.
“Do you get bored today without me accompanying you?” I asked worriedly. I had a day of the meeting and didn’t know what she was doing in the house.
Yes, sure. Angel has become a warrior and is busy catching up with the other warriors. Sylvia’s baby catches a cold and she is taking care of her baby. And you are busy every day, the meetings, Blood Day, blah blah blah. Only I don’t know what to do.
She said through mind-link while pursing her lips. I held back my urge to squeeze her face.
“Well, if you are bored, you can help me with Blood Day. That’s also part of being a Luna. You’ll have something to do and I can come back earlier. What do you think about it?” I suggested.
Really? She asked through mind-link and seemed very excited. I was so happy to see that she cared about our pack affairs so much. I was sure that she would be a very good Luna.
But her look turned worried again.
Blood Day is so important to your pack. Aren’t you worried that I might mess it up? She asked.
“Not at all. I believe you can do it. Carl will be your assistant. You can ask him or me if you have any questions. Now you are in full charge of it.” I said with a big smile on my face. I didn’t mind if she would mess it up, as long as she was willing to do it.
Thank you! It must be so much fun. She mind-linked me with a bright smile on her face.

Blood Day was coming.
During the one week before Blood Day, we hadn’t argued over one thing. She knew little about Blood Day so she just listened to me. Finally, the fights and quarrels between us were over.
These days, she was like a real Luna, in charge of the whole thing, from the purchase of the items to the decoration of the venue, and the announcement of Blood Day. I could feel that most of the pack members had changed their attitudes toward her, especially the pack leaders.
Finally, it was Blood Day. A ceremony would be held at night during which I would announce her to be the Luna of our pack. Then we would hold a big party which would last for hours. And we could have sex after the ceremony and the party, which was the most important part. Only the Moon Goddess knew how much I wanted to have sex with her. I knew that she had made a lot of effort so that we could get along. Now I began to believe that she really loved me and wanted to be the Luna of the pack.
We both woke up early this morning. After taking a shower, she sat in front of the mirror and began to wear makeup. I was happy that she learned it. I once mentioned it and she really listened to me. Now she didn't have to turn to other girls for help. She was making every effort to be a good Luna.
She opened a drawer and groped for an eyeliner. But she touched a diamond necklace. She raised it to her eyes and her eyes widened because of shock.
“Surprise!” I took it over and helped her wear it. It was a beautiful sapphire necklace with a dazzling diamond in the shape of a heart. I bought it at an auction and bid twenty times the original price.
How do I look? She asked through mind-link with a big smile on her face.
“You look gorgeous!” I held her in my arms tightly. I felt that my wolf was getting control. I wanted to rip off her clothes and press her to the bed. But not now. I needed to be a little more patient and I could do everything I wanted.
I went to the venue and stayed there until dusk. The party would begin soon. I drove to the pack house to pick up Erika.
"Are you ready, darling?" I asked as I opened the door and glanced at the house.
However, as I entered the pack house, I saw Erika lying on the ground motionless.
My heart pounded. I ran to her side and checked if she was right.
“Erika! Are you OK, Erika?” I held her in my arms and asked, my voice trembling.
She was unconscious. Near her hands were a cup and a pool of coffee. I picked up the cup and there were still dregs in it. I touched it with my hand and licked it. My heart sank. They were not only coffee dregs, but also wolfsbane!
Erika was poisoned! Right on Blood Day before the party!
How did it happen? Now I was so guilty that I didn't ask a guard to protect her.
Whoever did it should pay for it!
I knelt down beside her and held her in my arms, my body trembling violently. For the moment, I was at a total loss as to what to do. Tears welled up in my eyes and I didn't even realize it. I had never panicked like this before.
I reached out my trembling index finger and put it beneath her nostril. She was still breathing. Thank Goddess!
I forced myself to calm down and take out my phone.
