Erika’s POV
“I’m so excited! I thought that I would never see you again. But you’re still our Luna! Oh, my Goddess, I’m so happy. You know, I jumped up when I heard about the news you woke up and I rushed here with Carl and Sylvia at my fastest speed. Erika, you’ve been unconscious for three days. You don’t know what happened these days! Alpha Derek always pulls a long face and he’s so scary. Emma led a bunch of girls outside the pack house…” Angel gabbled excitedly after she stuffed a bunch of flowers in my hands.
However, Carl cleared his throat and stopped Angel. Sylvia put down the things she got for me.
“What?” Angel was confused.
“Luna needs rest,” Carl said as he gave Angel a look.
Angel shrugged.
What is it? What did Emma do? I mind-linked Angel.
“She wants to challenge you. How dare she? Who does she think she is? Now that you’re awake, you can kill her in a single blow,” Angel said.
Carl covered his head with his hand. “Derek hasn’t approved it. Don’t bother Luna with it.”
It’s OK. I heard him talking about it on the phone. I mind-linked them.
So tell me how did you save me? Where is Richard now? I asked through mind-link. I was curious how Derek did it without getting injured while Richard wanted to kill him badly.
“Well, we played a trick on Richard and I guess he still can’t figure out what happened. Richard didn’t want to cooperate with us at all. That’s just a disguise, but I heard that the cooperation thing was a trap we set for them. Actually, the West Ford Pack is our ally. Richard asked Alpha Derek to go to the dump at the border to get you with one million dollars. We all know that this is a trap. There is a man called Francis and he can change his look randomly. So he changed into Alpha Derek’s look and went to meet Richard. He went to the dump and stalled for some time, while Alpha Derek and I went to where you were locked to save you. I made some noise and attracted the guard’s attention while Alpha Derek got you and sent you to hospital. Then I came to Francis and we got into a car while Richard ran after us. We led them into another pack and caused some trouble and then I left the place in a second, while they stayed there being questioned by that pack. So we got out of that well-guarded dump without anyone getting injured, while we also caused great trouble to Richard,” Angel said proudly.
I burst out a laughter. It would be a misunderstanding if someone really thought that Derek was just a savage man with a muscular body. Beside his excellent fighting skills and his strong body, he was also smarter than any Alpha I had ever known. But Francis was a familiar name.
Then my face darkened when I thought of Richard. There was a question that bothered me for a long time. How did he know precisely that I was going to escape on Blood Day? I only contacted Orsen himself and I believed that Orsen wouldn’t betray me.
Is Richard still alive? I asked through mind-link.
“Yes. I asked Alpha Derek if I could kill Richard when I saw an opportunity. He rejected me,” Angel said in confusion.
I understood why Derek did so. He knew that I would hate Richard’s guts after being caught and tortured by him, so he left Richard’s life to me.
He growled and sneered at me. He even threatened to shackle me with a chain today. But I knew how considerate he was.
Carl and Sylvia left soon because they missed their baby. Angel stayed with me with another guard, who stood by the door and didn’t say a word. Derek said that I would be accompanied by at least two guards at day. He wasn’t joking.
Angel kept talking with me. It was a little embarrassing while talking in the presence of a stranger. But we soon learned how to ignore the guard.
Derek came back at nine o’clock at night. Angel and the guard left.
Suddenly there was only me and him in the spacious ward. He was taking off his suit and shirt, revealing his muscular body. He took a quick shower and came out in a bathing robe. He didn’t say a word since he came back. It was silent and embarrassing.
I decided to do something.
I heard that Emma wants to challenge me. Is that so? I mind-linked Derek.
“Yes,” Derek answered.
That was all? Shouldn’t he tell me when it would take place?
“I won’t agree with the challenge. I doubt that Emma has betrayed our pack and I had just got some evidence. She had some dealings with Richard for a long time. Do you remember some guys caused trouble during the meeting about Angel? Emma was the one behind it. After collecting all the evidence, I will condemn her to life imprisonment,” Derek explained.
So Emma had been contacting Richard. A lot of things made sense to me.
I mind-linked Derek. Derek, I have been thinking about why Richard knew exactly when I escaped. Could it be that Emma told her the date of Blood Day? Emma has never received any training in fighting. How dare she challenge me? There is only one possibility. She knows I am deeply injured and she is sure that you wouldn’t agree.
“Richard told her. No wonder she chose to challenge you at this very time,” Derek analyzed, “In this case, she might reveal the fact that you escaped if I wanted to condemn her to life imprisonment.”
What? So Derek had been keeping my escape a secret! I thought that everyone had known it. I looked at him in surprise.
He felt my gaze and rubbed his nose.
You still kept it a secret? I held his hands with my hands and asked.
“I’m just worried that the pack members may panic hearing the news…” he argued.
No. Liar.
I interrupted him by throwing my body at him. We both fell on the bed together.
I mind-linked him. I’ll accept the challenge. No need to put her in prison. I’ll kill her on the spot. His eyes widened.
