Erika's POV
He’s in the bathroom. I mind-linked Gerald and pointed to the bathroom.
“OK.” He nodded and began to fidget. He seemed to be restless with a stranger’s presence.
So, Gerald, do you want a cup of drink? I mind-linked with a smile on my face.
“No, thanks,” he shook his head immediately.
“OK. I’ll make a cup of drink for me,” I said as I walked around him to the counter behind him.
As I walked behind him, I threw a punch at his neck.
He noticed it immediately, turned around, and avoided the attack. He was swift. But he was not a match for me. Within five blows, I knocked him out and he lay on the ground motionless.
Done!
After getting out of the pack house, I kept running and didn’t slow down. I couldn’t risk being found out by him again. To be safe, I chose to run into the woods again.
I ran for a long time until I was exhausted. I stood still and pricked my ears even when I was taking a rest. I would be on the alert all the time until I was perfectly safe.
I stopped for about ten minutes and was energetic again. If everything went as planned, Carl and Gerald were still unconscious and Derek was still on his business. Hopefully, it all went as planned.
I continued to run. However, I stopped immediately as I heard tiny footsteps.
I summoned a knife and walked to where the sound came from. A wolf was behind a tree, staring at me and ready to attack. I had no time to waste and planned to kill it with one blow.
I stepped up holding the sword, aiming at the wolf’s neck. But as I approached it, I discovered that it had a bulging stomach. It was a pregnant wolf.
I got distracted by it and missed its neck. It bit my arm and refused to let go. So I jabbed the knife in its ear.
It let go of my arm and began to howl painfully. No, that would attract more wolves.
Suddenly. I was surrounded by a bunch of wolves. I stepped back and sent a volley of daggers at them. Some were hit while others dodged the dagger. Then I sent a volley of darts to them. Two-thirds of the wolves had been killed. Then I summoned a bow and arrow. I didn't need a quiver because I could summon as many arrows as I needed and it wouldn’t be difficult to kill all of them in a short time.
I aimed at the wolf closest to me and released the arrow. It hit it right in the neck and it fell.
More wolves fell as I released arrows. However, the wolves crowded in me quicker than I expected.
My movement became slower and slower. I couldn’t imagine what would happen if two wolves attacked me together.
However, the worst-case scenario still happened. The wolves were getting more and more. I just killed one wolf and didn’t notice that another was approaching me from behind me. Suddenly I felt a pain in my left shoulder. It was a wolf biting me.
At this sight, the other wolves who didn’t dare to get close all charged toward me. I was knocked down by a strong wolf. No, it was bad. I had never been attacked by so many wolves at one time. I struggled hard but I couldn’t get up, I could see the strong wolf’s canines, which were aimed at my neck.
I was about to shift into wolf form and bite them to death when the clench on my shoulder stopped. All of a sudden, the wolves all convulsed and collapsed to the ground. Their fur was charred and there was even smoke. What happened?
I turned around and discovered that Derek was sitting in the trees above me. I was in the fight just now and didn’t even know when he found me.
I felt dismayed. Again, I was so close to success. If not for the wolf, at least he wouldn’t have found me so quickly. And the worst of all, Derek was the who saved me. It made me feel so humiliated. But why was he here? He should be busy with his pack affairs.
"I couldn't contact them, so I came back to the house to check on you. It turned out they were both unconscious. Erika, good for you." He jumped down the tree and walked over with a sneer on his face. I didn't step back as he walked closer, because I knew I couldn't get out of the forest unless I defeated him.
He walked over slowly and stopped in front of me. Then he bent over to carry me. The moment he bent over, I summoned another knife and tried to jab his neck with it.
Suddenly, both of my hands stung and I couldn’t hold my knife anymore. Then I felt an electric shock through my body. Unable to stand still, I collapsed on the ground. I looked at my palms and they had turned dark. I knew that there must be a lot of injuries all over my body. It hurt so much that tears welled up in my eyes.
What did you do to me? I asked through mind-link.
"Electricity. That’s my gift. I hate to do so but you make me. This is your punishment. It can stop you from escaping and throwing knives at me." he answered and still carried me in a bridal style. I didn’t reject him. What I heard was so shocking that I couldn't wrap my head around it.
What do you mean? I mind-linked him in confusion.
He looked at me and didn’t answer.
I had a bad feeling. I tried to summon knives but I failed because my hands hurt too much and I couldn't clench my fists. How could I fight without my weapons? I couldn't even wear my gloves with my hands badly injured. And most of my weapons were made of metal. I did feel like it was a punishment for giving me such a dominant mate with the gift of electricity.
"Just stop fighting. I’m your mate and it’s my responsibility to protect you. As long as you submit, I’ll protect you from any harm, Luna. We are meant to be together. Stop hurting each other," he said as he patted my head.
I closed my eyes to stop tears streaming down my face. It was so humiliating.
He carried me in his arms gently and headed to his fucking pack house.
