From Gamma to Luna

Chapter 21

Ch. 21 / 98 Jan 10, 2026

Derek’s POV

Angel dodged the attack and appeared behind the man in a flash. The man lost his balance and fell down. Angel glared at him with fire of anger burning in her eyes. She took a step back and put one hand on her sheath.

Angel, stop! Come over here! Erika jumped to her feet and mind-linked.

At Erika’s words, Angel paused and turned to look at Erika in confusion. Erika beckoned at her and Angel calmed down immediately. Angel walked over and stood behind Erika. It amazed me how Angel trusted Erika and listened to her.

I knew why Erika stopped her. Few people knew that Angel’s gift was speed. It was much more favorable to Angel if her gift was unknown to everybody. I guessed that was also why Erika chose a very secret place to be their training ground. On the first day of their training, I wanted to see her and apologize to her, but it turned out I couldn’t even find where they were.

Everyone in the meeting room saw how Angel moved at a fast speed. But most of them didn’t understand what was going on.

“What just happened?” People began to gossip.

“I don’t know. It happened in a second and I didn’t see it clearly.”

I cleared my throat and it was silent. Everyone looked at me respectfully.

“I see, some of you have questions about the vote. You can voice your dissatisfaction to the Delta. Violence can't solve the problem. I won't tolerate it. The meeting is over.” After it, I raised my hand and gave that man an electric shock. The man convulsed in pain and then collapsed to the ground. I signalled a man to pull him out.

Among the crowd, most just left the meeting room. Some of them didn’t leave immediately, instead, they looked at one another in hesitation. The old lady glanced at the room. When her eyes met mine, she lowered her head immediately.

After seconds, she stood up and walked out of the room quickly. Shortly after she left, the rest of the audience who were still in the room also left within a minute.

Interesting.

“There must be someone behind them. Someone plotted it against me,” Angel suddenly realized it.

Or us. Erika added through mind-link.

Then they both turned to look at me.

“Whoever did it will be punished. Kent, find out why that man attempted to attack Angel. There might be someone behind him. I don't think an ordinary man dares to attack in front of me. You have the right to use every necessary way,” I said severely. Obviously, someone was trying to manipulate the result of the result, which I would never tolerate.

“Yes, sir.” Kent bared his neck to show submission. At this moment, Carl's wife Sylvia walked in from the bathroom with the baby in her arms. Carl walked over and took over the baby with a big smile on his face.

Erika thanked him for voting for her today. Carl smiled at her in embarrassment and admitted that he didn’t do it for Erika. Of course, I looked at her baby girl and it all made sense.

What’s her name? Erika asked through mind-link.

“Jane,” Carl answered and showed the baby to Erika. The girl reached her tiny hands to Erika and smiled. Erika looked at me in amazement.

“She likes you.” Sylvia smiled.

Erika also reached out her hands and touched Jane’s plump hands. Jane clenched her fist immediately and wrapped it around Erika’s finger. The soft touch made Erika gape.

“Wow, she’s so cute!” Angel exclaimed.

“Thank you,” Sylvia said.

The baby got asleep soon so Sylvia and the Carl left together. I had to admit, now that I found my mate, I was quite jealous of him. How they loved each other and how adorable their baby was! I wondered what my future baby would look like, although I was not sure if Erika wanted a baby. It seemed that she had settled for her life here, but I couldn’t be sure.

I turned to Angel and encouraged her, “Don’t get distracted. I’m prepared to be dazzled by your victory tomorrow midnight.”

“Thank you, Alpha. I will win!” Angel jumped up and exclaimed. She seemed very confident.

Erika walked to Angel with a strict face.

Calm down. The training continues after twenty minutes. Erika reminded her with a long face.

“OK.” Angel pursed her lips and lowered her head.

Run to our training place. Stretch and warm up for your last lesson before the fight. I’ll be right there soon. Erika commanded.

"Yes!" Angel answered loudly and ran away.

My gaze fell upon Erika. She was removing the false eyelashes that Angel applied on her lash line.

She wore her hair up, looked down at the dress, and sighed. She must be thinking about whether to change it or not.

What? Is anything wrong with my face? Erika felt my gaze and looked up at me in confusion.

“Nothing wrong. It just occurs to me that you are only an eighteen-year-old girl.” I caressed her face, the long scar on her face. She was only one year older than Angel and here she was, teaching Angel how to fight. It broke my heart to think about what she might have gone through.

I’m an adult. I’m a teacher and I’m leaving for the training ground. She mind-linked me and raised her chin high proudly. Then she walked out of the room with her bag.

I looked at her back as she walked out and was a little sad. She thanked Carl for voting for her while she ignored me.

Suddenly, she stopped at the door. As if she had felt my sadness through mate bond, she turned around and walked towards me. She stopped in front of me and kissed me on my left cheek.

Thank you for that speech. That’s lovely. I really appreciate that. She mind-linked me with a smile on her face. Then she turned around and left.

I closed my eyes and stood there motionless for a minute, feeling the wetness on my face.

***

The fight between Angel and a warrior would take place tonight.

Normally, I would get up early and kiss Erika goodbye while she was still asleep. But this morning, she got up earlier than I did. She had been with Angel all day long. According to her, she needed to make sure that no one would scheme against Angel and that she would be with Angel every minute until Angel entered the training ground. So I couldn’t see her until midnight.

Many people bet on the fight. That was a tradition, a bad one. Of course, most of them bet on Paul, the warrior. I could imagine that the training ground would be filled with cries and tears after the fight.

Suddenly, someone patted me on my shoulder.

“Alpha Derek, who should I bet on?” A familiar voice sounded. I didn’t have to turn around and already knew who he was.
