Erika’s POV
I knew it would possibly snow and the temperature would fall drastically tonight. I didn’t expect that the snow came so early tonight. The ground was soon blanketed with snow and it was freezing cold. I looked up and the moon couldn't be seen because of the heavy snow. Thank the Moon Goddess for choosing such a cold night as my first night of freedom.
I had been walking in the snow in a long dress with a warm red cloak for twenty minutes. I pulled the cloak tight and trembled.
My feet were so cold that I gathered up my dress and began to run to keep warm. It was not easy to run in such an outfit and the lack of training these days also made it harder. I ran for about thirty minutes and finally ran into the forest. With every step I took, I was farther and farther away from the Blood Moon Pack and Derek.
I kept running and I met two rogues on my way. They were quite aggressive when they noticed that a woman in a beautiful dress with makeup was running in the snow. However, when I got a dagger out of nowhere, one rogue’s face changed. I was happy to see that there were still rumors about me.
“Relax, Gamma Erika is gone. She can’t possibly show up here at night. Maybe she just wants to scare us.” Another taller rogue murmured to the other rogue They thought that their voice was low, but I heard it all.
I sneered at them and threw a dagger at the taller one. It hit him on the left of his chest and he collapsed immediately.
“Oh, my Goddess!!!” Witnessing his companion’s death, the other rogue burst out a cry and knelt out of fear.
What a coward.
I didn’t kill him and just left. All the rogues in the forest needed to know that Erika was back.
I kept running and felt that I was rogue-hunting again. I could go anywhere I wanted and kill the rogues that stood in the way. I didn’t meet many rogues, which meant that Orsen did a good job as the Gamma of the Fly Rock Pack. Speaking of which, I was approaching the Fly Rock Pack. But I would pass it without dropping in and continue my escape plan.
As I went deeper into the forest, the surrounding trees and the trails became more familiar. I knew that I couldn’t walk out of the forest tonight and I needed a place to stay. But the snow made it hard to find a hiding place. I walked around for a long time before I finally found a big tree hole. It was also cold inside but it offered shelter from the snow. When I was about to get in the hole and take a rest, I heard tiny footsteps on my left. It was not very far. I didn’t notice it because of fatigue. After all, I had killed a rogue and run for a long time.
I turned around. It was Orsen!
Why are you here? I asked him in surprise.
“I’m on my rogue hunting.” He explained.
Yes, of course. I took a deep breath.
“Why are you here? So you have…” he asked tentatively.
Well, that’s a long story. I mind-linked him.
“You escaped from the Blood Moon Pack, didn’t you?” Another male voice could be heard behind me. I turned around and it was Richard, or Alpha Richard, to be more precise. When was he behind me? I didn’t notice it.
I turned to look at Orsen in disbelief. His eyes widened and it seemed that he didn’t know what was happening.
“Alpha Richard.” Orsen bared his neck to show submission.
Alpha Richard shot him a glance. Orsen stepped back.
What do you want? I summoned a dagger in my hand and asked through mind-link with my chin high. I didn’t want to waste time on him.
“Well, as an old friend, I can put you up for the night if you need a place to stay.” He walked over with a crooked smile on his face. Brought up by Charles, I also grew up with Richard. But I was not familiar with him. He could be easygoing, but I believed that it was not his true color. I couldn’t figure out what was it that prompted him to challenge his father. Now he showed up and asked me to stay at his place, I seriously didn’t know what he wanted to do. As the ally of the Blood Moon Pack, shouldn’t he report it to Derek immediately after he found that Derek’s mate escaped? And why was he so sure that I escaped?
I couldn’t figure it out immediately. All I knew was that something must be wrong and that I needed to kill him now.
I clenched the dagger in my hand, but my temple pulsed wildly. Hours of constant mental strain had weakened my strength in every aspect. It might be hard for me to kill him in one blow.
“Orsen, get her.” Richard also noticed my movements.
“Alpha Richard...”
“Do as you are told if you still want to be the Gamma of the pack.” Alpha Richard commanded with a serious tone. The smile on his face completely disappeared.
Orsen looked at Alpha Richard in disbelief.
“You have been secretly contacting the Luna of another pack. Do you think that you can pull the wool over my eyes?” Alpha Richard scolded. He seemed to be a different person after he became the Alpha.
“But it has nothing to do with…” Orsen argued.
I didn’t want to listen to their argument, so I turned around and was about to leave. However, Alpha Richard threw a dagger at me from my behind. I moved sideways and threw my dagger at him. To my surprise, Richard didn’t move the slightest. A smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
I had a bad feeling.
As the dagger flew at him at a high speed, Orsen pulled out his sword and was about to stop it. The next second, Richard reached out his hand, grasped Orsen, and pulled Orsen in front of him.
My eyes widened. Orsen’s eyes also widened. It happened so quickly that Orsen couldn’t do anything. The dagger hit Orsen on the left of his chest. Then Alpha Richard pulled the dagger out of Orsen’s body with a cold face. Immediately after it, blood spurted from the wound. Richard released Orsen and Orsen fell to the ground, with the white snow around him turning red. Judging from the heavy loss of blood and the position of the wound, I was almost sure that Orsen couldn’t survive tonight.
Orsen! I couldn’t believe what happened. He was the best warrior that I trained when I was the Gamma.
I summoned a volley of daggers and threw it toward Alpha Richard. Everyone knew that Derek was savage. Now I finally knew what savage meant.
I wanted Richard dead. My eyes turned fierce.
All of sudden, a bunch of wolves ran to me from every direction and blocked all of my daggers.
My face changed. Alpha Richard stood behind them and looked at me triumphantly.
