Gabriel’s POV:
“Are you feeling okay, now?”
The moment when my brain was messed up in processing the bitter reality, I paused for a second hearing a familiar, cold masculine voice at the doorstep of the room.
Of course, how could I fail to recognize this voice? As expected, Zordan never fails to show up when I am at my most vulnerable state, even making me more miserable.
I shoveled my teary bloodshot eyes towards that direction and I could see the proud Crown Prince of our kingdom, Zordan, was standing next to the door, leaning his back against the wall. He had a keen gaze glued on me and a solemn expression, as if he was observing me thoroughly.
The senior maid kinda panicked by suddenly finding him appear in the room and bowed her head. Fidgeting her fingertips, she murmured, “Y-Your Grace? W-When did you come here? I..I was just about to report you about Her Royal Highness’s state—”
“I was too impatient that’s why I wanted to check her myself.”
Zordan exhaled a heavy sigh and casually stated walking close to my bed. I was certain that he had noticed the irked glare in my eyes, yet he looked completely unaffected by it. He even flipped his arm and commanded the maid, “Leave us alone.”
The maid didn’t waste a single second and hurriedly left the room with a rush. The moment she closed the door, Zordan frowned his brows a little and glabnced at the shattered glass pieces of the mirror which was scattered on the ground.
“Judging from the way you have smashed the mirror, looks like your strength is back as usual, Gabriel.” His voice sounded much calm, without showing any discontent.
Suddenly as he drew closer to the bed, his strong unique scent tickled my senses. The moment I sniffed his scent, the bite mark on my neck started to twitch again, making me feel a faint pain. For me, that aching sensation was a cursed humiliation to my pride, making me feel worse than death.
No matter how hard I tried, tears flowed down my eyes as I was forced into this realization. I was marked by that same Alpha whom I loved with my whole heart, yet the same person who fucked up my entire life overnight.
Hiding the defeated look in my eyes, I leaned my head down and didn't choose to answer him. My blood was boiling, not with just anger but the pain from humiliation.
Since my childhood, I have been taught that marking is a process of faith and love between a fated alpha and an omega. It’s a matter of pride for omegas to be marked by their destined alphas…and I had the same beautiful dream too.
But why now? How could Zordan do this to me when there’s neither love nor faith left between us anymore? Even…he stooped so low to mark me when I was unconscious? Just how much he want to ruin me more?
He observed my internal conflicts through my silence but rather than getting away from me, he drew even closer and gazed deeply on the reddish blue imprint mark left by him, with a serious look on his face.
“Does this mark hurt too much? Shall I prepare some ice-cubes for you?” He asked me next.
But more than anything, his strange question left me baffled. Just what the heck this crazy bastard is plotting in his head? After what he did, how can he be so shameless to even ask about it? Is he challenging my wrath…or…is this a new trap?
When the thoughts condensed in my mind, I clenched my fist in anticipation and leaned my head down. Looking away from him, I coldly answered, “I am not in my right mind now, Prince Zordan. If you don’t want to get hurt, leave the room at once.”
But even my cold warning didn’t seem to leave any impact on him. He stayed still for a few seconds and walked even closer to my bed. This is bad…my anger was suppressing every limit of endurance by his bold approach.
If this continued…my inner wolf will be awakened and I might end up attacking him! I am well aware that my strength is negligible when compared to a strong alpha like him, but isn’t it better to end this humiliating life in his hands rather than dragging this on?
“Stop thinking so much. I don’t mind if you shapeshift into a wolf and attack me…but, you shouldn’t be thinking about such stuff in this frail health. You might not admit but your body is still weak.”
All of a sudden, my whole body flinched in shock as he casually uttered those words to me. I jolted and sprang my eyes above at him, only to find he was keenly staging at me from close.
Wait…how did Zordan know that I was considering the possibility of attacking him?
My throat parched dry with fear as my lips mumbled after a pause, “D-Did you…r-read my mind?”
His aloof facial expression stiffened a bit as he answered me coldly, “You are my marked omega now, Gabriel. And, you must be aware, we can use mild links with our mates whenever we feel the need to do.
You seemed to be deeply indulged in thoughts, that's why I had no other choice but to read your mind.” His answer was curt and brazen, leaving me baffled in shock.
But by this time, my burning wrath had reached the peak of endurance as I had started to lose control over my enraged self. Without my realization, the color of my iris suddenly transformed into golden yellow and long chisel-shaped claws started to emerge out of my nails.
As my canines started to show up, I gritted a scornful smile at him before growling, “Since you have already read my intention, then…why don’t you have a taste of your own medicine?”
