Gabriel’s POV:
How strange!
The person whom I unknowingly wanted to see again arrived at such an awkward moment when my ex-fiancee was grabbing my hand tight. But, the moment I gazed at him, I almost froze in shock!
Unlike his usual calm and composed gesture, I saw a dark, petrifying glare in his onyx eyes, solely focused on Marcus. His face had a vicious expression, similar to the one which I had seen on him the moment he flung his sword into my father’s chest! It was that exact terrifying look that I never wanted to see again!
Moreover, his glowing rolled eyeballs were glaring at Marcus’s arm on my hand, emitting an unusual dark aura around him. He appeared unknowingly scary which led a chill run down my spine.
However, Marcus stood still with an unfazed look on his face towards him. He didn’t seem a bit affected by his scary aura, instead, he maintained fearless eye contact with him.
After a heavy silence of a few seconds, Zordan stomped his boot hard on the ground and walked a few steps closer to us, fixing his death stare on Marcus. Clearing his throat with a small cough, he snarled once again, “Did the military training has turned you a deaf? I asked, what are you doing to my fiancee?”
Just from his stiff hoarse voice, I could realize the rage of an alpha growing inside him. I was already aware of his dangerous face, and there was no way I could let anyone become another victim of his blood-thirsty side. Pouring my immense strength, I forcibly unleashed my hand from his grip and mumbled to divert the topic a bit, “P-Prince Zordan? When did you arrive from your march?”
But without bothering to answer my question, both the brothers laid their death stares upon each other, making me feel terribly uncomfortable. Zordan quickly reached closer and stood next to me before he evoked an answer, “Lady Gabriel…good job in unleashing your hands from his grip. Or else, I was perhaps about to break his arm right now.”
What?
Even though he said those words to me with a small cryptic smirk on his face, they sounded terribly scary to me. As Zordan was close to me, I could sense a spine-chilling aura emitting around him which I assumed to be the terrifying possessive instincts of an Alpha which can also result in a blood bath!
But I couldn’t understand, why is he showing such a side to Marcus now!
“Pfft!” At that moment, when the tension between them was already suffocating, Marcus tossed a sarcastic smirk at Zordan as if he wanted to challenge his wrath more. Tilting his head a little, he grunted, “As expected from your silly jealousy, Prince Zordan! After all these years, you really haven’t changed at all!”
“And I can see you are still a shameless brat as ever!” The spooky smile on his face tainted a little as Zordan came up with a quick reply to his remark.
Even though both these giant men were just exchanging scornful glares at each other, out of anxiety I felt as if my heart was about to jump out of my mouth! My instincts told me somehow there will be a fight between the two if I didn’t take Zordan away from him at that moment.
Just as thought, I clutched the hem of his coat and mumbled in a nervous voice, “P-Prince Zordan, you must be exhausted too, right? Let’s head into the room, I have something to talk about—”
“Gabriel, I am still not done yet.” Before I could complete my sentence, Marcus cut in between my words in a stiff voice, while his irked glare focused on Zordan.
But it was bad timing to do so!
His words for me at that very moment acted like a catalyst to flare Zordan’s petrifying anger as I saw a vein pop out on the side of his neck. The small sneer disappeared from his face before he gritted his jaws at him, “Prince Marcus…I guess you have become brazen enough to address the Crown Princess of our nation informally, don’t you? Who are you to call by her name?”
“No matter how much you try to show off your superiority right now, Gabriel was my fiancee before! So, I can definitely call her by her name!” Marcus boldly argued back, without getting affected by his murderous glares.
But watching the atmoshphere between them drastically deteriorating, I couldn’t help but nervously meddle in. I stood in between both of them as a guard wall and coldly scolded Marcus before talking to Zordan, “Prince Marcus, I would appreciate it if you address me properly from now on! Our engagement was all in the past and you shouldn’t bring it up in my present life. It’s already quite a late hour, please…get some rest now.”
“Hah, I can’t believe it, Gabriel are you defending this punk now?” Shocking me to the core, Marcus didn’t show any sign of backing off and continued his shameless provocations for Zordan one after another. By now, I realized that he was doing it purposely to make Zordan lose his temper and create great chaos amidst the castle overnight.
But how would I make this idiot realize that he was toying with fire? I quietly glanced at Zordan from the side and the darkened expression on his cold face shuddered me from the inside. He seemed to be already prepared to pounce on him at any moment and this would result in another murder from his hands!
Desperate and helpless to escape from this situation, suddenly a sharp idea hit my mind. It was the only thing that could dismiss this intense situation right now but it was a humiliating act for me to do. Even so, I convinced myself that if I didn’t meddle now, someone might really end up losing their life!
Just with that thought, I grabbed Zordan by his neck and leaned my face closer to him. In the count of three seconds, I closed my eyes and marked a soft kiss on his burning hot lips, holding my breath still!
