Gabriel’s POV:
I don’t know what got into me anymore but I frantically rushed towards the door and opened the knob to walk outside. But before I could do so, the door opened on it’s own from outside, making a faint ‘creak’ noise.
My heart was strangely beating fast as if blood rush was flowing through my veins. I knew I must be insane to feel this kind of emotions towards that sinful person, but I couldn’t think of anything more. But amidst the rush, my heel stepped on the hem of my long nightgown, disrupting my motion. Unexpectedly my balance wobbled and I realized that I was about to fall down on the hard ground.
Out of panic, I closed my eyes but suddenly a strong grip of a masculine arm grabbed my waist tight, preventing me from falling at the last moment.
Before I could open my scared eyes, suddenly I felt a chill running down my spine. The feeling was unusual since I could feel the touch a little unfamiliar, compared to Zordan’s warm hands. Moreover, this time, I sensed a strong manly scent from the approached person, which was way different compared to the usual sweet scent that I have always felt around Zordan.
Jumbled by confused feelings, in the flick of a second, I opened my eyes out of curiosity. But, who knew such a shocking moment was awaiting ahead of me?
Immediately I turned pale and froze in shock to see the person who was holding me was a very familiar person, but his face and memory had become distant to me over the span of these years.
No one, other than Marcus Sanford, the youngest prince of Shadow Pack.
Overwhelmed with mixed emotions, my heart suddenly started to thump faster like crazy as if it was about to jump out of my chest! Chills ran down my spine as my body started to shiver on its own. The last time I saw Marcus was when I had caught him in the act with Lilith, marking the end of our relationship.
But after three years, the same person was standing close to me, bearing that familiar face that I had once considered as my forever! All the bittersweet memories condensed my mind, leaving me too baffled.
But on the other hand, he still bore that familiar presence, that dazzling handsome face with reddish brown hair shinning beautifully as sunset, undoubtedly made him standout among the other handsome men in this castle. Not to mention, Zordan was uniquely charming in his own way, but I could never deny that women always headed over heels for Marcus because of his attractive looks.
He was dressed in a creamy white royal tuxedo and huffing a bit fast as if he was running out of breath. Before I could break the anticipating silence between us, he tightened his hold around my waist and stared deeply into me through his hazel brown eyes, “Gabriel…”
The moment he called my name in a low, soft voice, all of a sudden I sensed a sharp pain of heartbreak within my chest, which made me feel restless. My senses retrieved back gradually. I unleashed myself from his hold and moved a few steps apart with a frown towards him.
“Gabriel…Is it really you? Or…Or am I dreaming?” He spoke again in such a gentle voice, keeping his intense gaze glued on him.
But the more I heard his sweet voice, the more my emotions were getting disheveled. It was the first time I met him after I came back to my pack after long 3 years. I had heard that Marcus had left for his military training and probably won’t be back very soon, which was kind of reassuring for me. But watching him stand in front of me and call my name in such a tender voice, was nerve-wracking for me! Not to mention, Marcus didn’t even bother to act gently towards me even when we were engaged!
The frown in my brows curved deeper as I skeptically gazed back into him, “W-Why are you here at this hour?”
But my stiff question didn’t seem to have any impact on him as he exhaled a heavy sigh, shoveling his curly hair bangs above his forehead. He seemed a little relieved and spoke after a brief silence, “T-Thank Goodness! I finally got to see you! O-Or else…I was probably about to go crazy if I didn’t get to meet you sooner!”
Huh? What was he suddenly blabbering about? Keeping a confused look towards him, I murmured, “Hey…w-what do you mean by that—”
But before I could get to complete my words, all of a sudden he rushed closer to me and pulled me in his arms for a tight embrace! It was beyond shocking that made me too anxious to speak but he rested his head on my shoulder and patted the back of my head.
“I missed you…I really missed you, Gabriel!” His soft whisper flinched me hard.
