Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 89

Ch. 89 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Sandra was stunned by Velma's roar.

"You can just say you don't know. Why are you shouting at me?" Sandra glared back at her fiercely and then turned away angrily.

There were only them in the elevator. Thus the atmosphere instantly became a little strange.

When the elevator arrived, Velma walked out first.

Sandra followed behind her.

They went to the hall and saw that the applicants had queued up in a long line.

"Fuck! Is the Lowe Group that good? So many applicants have come for three positions!" Sandra instantly lost her confidence.

"If you don't have the confidence, go back. Don't make a fool of yourself here." Velma glanced at her.

Velma felt worried in recalling the design that Natasha had assigned her, of which the theme was autumn. It wasn't finished yet.

The question setter was weird. No wonder why the theme was so strange.

Velma wondered if Marilyn would hand in the design before her. She was under a lot of pressure this time, but it was also a rare opportunity. If she succeeded, she would be famous throughout this opportunity.

As Velma was speaking, she saw Marilyn, Sergio, and Billie walking over.

Marilyn did not expect that Velma and Sandra were also the applicants. She remembered that Sandra also studied design and Sandra's family also owned a clothing company. Why would she come here?

"Oh! Here comes the newly promoted director." Sandra looked at Marilyn with disdain, and the corners of her mouth curled into a mocking smile.

Marilyn knew Sandra. As the beloved daughter of the Chambers family, Sandra had always been arrogant.

With a professional smile on her face, Marilyn said in a flat tone, "Ms. Chambers also wants to work in the Lowe Group?" No emotions could be told from such a faint sentence.

"What? You can be here. Why can't I?" Sandra glanced at Marilyn with an unfriendly expression.

She must find out whether Marilyn Chapman was Marilyn Chambers or not.

As for Velma, she only stood quietly aside.

With one hand in his pocket, Sergio smiled. "Ms. Chambers, please be polite. This is the Lowe Group, not the Chambers Enterprise. If you are here to cause trouble, please leave. We don't accept biting dogs."

Sergio was famous for being sharp-tongued in the circle.

Many girls had received the most unforgettable damage from him.

"Sergio, you..." Sandra was so angry that her eyes were wide open as she glared at Sergio. Her eyes immediately reddened, but she quieted down.

She really wanted to work in the Lowe Group. They recruited people only because they had expanded their business this year. Many people had longed for a position in the Lowe Group. None of their employees could be underestimated.

The people who came to apply were called in one by one and came out very quickly. They all left with disappointed expressions.

Marilyn knew about the recruitment this time. This year's autumn clothing design had been decided.

The people who were to be recruited at the moment were for the Market Department and the Sales Department. They needed to communicate with the customer service staff.

Those people would also be on her team. They needed three people. One of them should be very familiar with the fabric and be able to accurately grasp the trend of the fabric.

Marilyn had been too busy to handle all the things alone, meantime they had expanded the business. So the Lowe Group announced the recruitment information.

In all, these three people had to be familiar with the market and clear about the trend of every season.

Marilyn took a look. There were still many people waiting for the interview. She glanced at Sergio. She had to go to the meeting anyway. The design of the new autumn products had been recognized and therefore they had to make the overall development strategy and market plan in advance.

Marilyn said, "Sergio, let's go!"

"OK!" Sergio nodded calmly and glanced at Velma with his clear eyes before leaving.

Billie gave Sandra a cheering gesture and left with Marilyn.

Velma, on the other hand, did not say anything from the beginning to the end.

Velma did not dare to look at Sergio at all. He was Malcolm's secretary and friend. He knew everything about Malcolm. He must know what happened last night.

How she hoped what happened last night was just a dream.

Velma and Sandra stood in place, not saying a word. Watching one left after another with disappointment, they were quite unsettled.

The recruitment requirements of the Lowe Group were extremely high. Although they both knew about design, because of their wealthy families, they had never officially worked as employees.

But they knew the trend of new products in every season well.

Marilyn only focused on her work and didn't take the recruitment to heart. When it was time to get off work, she got off work on time.

However, just as she stepped out of the company, she was blocked by a woman.

"Ms. Chapman, can I have a minute?"

Marilyn realized that it was the woman who had splashed wine on her last night.

Michelle carefully looked at Marilyn as if she had never been arrogant and impolite to Marilyn.

Unexpectedly, after only one night, her face was now haggard and pale, and her expression was extremely nervous.

When Marilyn thought about how Michelle had deliberately splashed red wine on her, Marilyn's expression turned extremely cold. "There's nothing I want to talk to you about."

Michelle anxiously looked at Marilyn and nervously said, "Ms. Chapman, I know that I was in the wrong at the banquet. I apologize. I'm sorry, I'm really sorry! Please ask Mr. Lowe to reconsider the cooperation with the Hamilton family."

Hearing this, Marilyn frowned in confusion. Marilyn wondered, "What does she mean?

Why does Michelle come to me for the contract?

What does it have to do with me?"

Marilyn, who had been busy all this time, did not know what had happened in the circle today. Malcolm had terminated all the cooperation with the Hamilton family.

Malcolm had been, as always, decisive and ruthless in the business world.

Marilyn was about to speak, but a cold voice came from behind.

"Miss Hamilton, this has nothing to do with Ms. Chapman. You've begged the wrong person."

It was Sergio. Marilyn quickly turned back to look at Sergio, who had changed into a gray hoodie. It was the clothes made by Roland's company. Marilyn could tell at a glance.

Michelle quickly looked at Sergio. All of the orders today were given by Sergio.

The Hamilton family had always relied on cooperation with the Lowe Group. She had never thought that a glass of red wine and a few oral personal attacks would make her family bankrupt.

She rushed to Sergio and cried, "Sergio..."

"Go away!" Sergio did not give her a chance to speak.

He glanced at Marilyn and said, "Ms. Chapman, leave this to me!"

Marilyn nodded her head in confusion. She wanted to ask Sergio about what happened, but Michelle was here.

Moreover, she still had things to do, so she really had to go.

She said goodbye to Sergio, "Goodbye, Sergio!"

Sergio nodded and glanced at Michelle as Marilyn left.

Looking at Marilyn's back, Sergio felt that she looked particularly thin under the setting sun.

But she was strong as well.

His gaze was complicated and his beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. The most difficult thing in the world was to think for others wholeheartedly.
