Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 97

Ch. 97 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Hearing Marilyn's cold words, Denise trembled violently.

She couldn't tell what emotions were in her heart. They just flashed so fast that she couldn't grasp one.

However, strong sadness spread throughout her whole body.

Denise suddenly burst into tears. Her grievances from the past few days were released in an instant, like a dam breaking.

Marilyn knelt in the water, watching Denise cry and vent her emotions.

"Perhaps after crying, Denise will feel much better," Marilyn thought.

Malcolm and Julian had just finished their meal and went home on this way.

Many people heard that there was someone committing suicide. They gathered there and caused a traffic jam.

The cars in front didn't move, so Julian could only stop his car and move forward slowly.

Seeing this, Malcolm, who was originally in a bad mood, became even more agitated.

While Denise was crying, the ambulance arrived.

Several medical staff carried Denise away on a stretcher.

However, Denise was so sad that she held Marilyn's hand tightly. She seemed to have regarded Marilyn as her savior, and once she let go of Marilyn, she would fall into a bottomless abyss.

Marilyn could only get in the ambulance to accompany Denise.

The bridge was too narrow for the ambulance to pass, so they had to cross the bridge before getting in.

Marilyn was smelly. The mud in the river wrapped her and changed the color of her skin.

The siren of the ambulance raised a tense atmosphere.

The people around were discussing.

They got out of the way.

Marilyn knew the relationship between Denise and Jacob. She pulled up the quilt covering Denise and did not let anyone take a picture of Denise.

The Remington family was well-known in Fielddell. If Denise's suicide tonight was exposed by someone with ulterior motives, it would be even more difficult for Denise and Jacob to be together in the future.

At this time, Malcolm leaned against the chair and rested with his eyes closed. Even though his eyes were closed, he still looked distant.

Julian looked around in boredom. The ambulance was not far from him and it was right next to his car. The car in front did not move. Suddenly, Julian saw a thin and weak figure which looked a little familiar at first glance. When he looked at it carefully, he found it was actually Marilyn.

"Oh... Isn't that Ms. Chapman? Did her friend commit suicide by jumping into the river?

"Why did she get in the ambulance with mud all over her body?" Julian said to himself.

Malcolm suddenly opened his eyes. He glanced at the ambulance that was whistling and passing them. He asked coldly, "Are you sure you are not blind? Is it really Lynn?"

Julian turned around and rolled his eyes at Malcolm. He said helplessly, "I'm not like you. At least, I saw it with my eyes open, and you saw it with your eyes closed. You are the blind one."

"He roared at me! I have to serve him and I'm aggrieved enough.

Can't he treat me a little better?" Julian complained in his heart.

"Then why aren't you following them?" Malcolm roared in a cold tone.

Julian trembled as he saw a crazy lion roaring in Malcolm's eyes.

Even though Julian felt aggrieved, he did not say anything. But the cars in front of him were still motionless, and he frowned.

He pressed the horn hard. The horn seemed to have a great hatred for him and he pressed it angrily.

"The cars in front are not moving. You want me to fly over?" Julian's heart was full of anger. He regretted that he had said something, "Wouldn't it be better if I pretended to see nothing?"

Julian sighed in his heart.

"I was the one who looked for trouble. I can only blame myself!"

Malcolm glanced coldly at the front and saw that the cars were slowly moving.

He roared, "Hurry up and follow them. Which hospital did they go to?"

"I know. Aren't we following them? Also, Malcolm, don't yell at me all day. I'm also a person with a bad temper," Julian said. He started the car helplessly and followed the ambulance slowly.

His anger suddenly rose but was suppressed by him.

Hearing Malcolm's cold and worried voice, Julian felt angry, as well as distressed.

For Julian, Terence, and Sergio, Malcolm was domineering and ruthless to the point of being annoying.

But only they, as friends who knew Malcolm's past clearly, would understand Malcolm's pain and feel sorry for him.

Malcolm was cold but kind and he valued friendship.

Of course, Malcolm only valued the friendship with Julian, Terence, and Sergio.

Every month, Malcolm would have the nightmare of that night once. That nightmare was like a devil's claw and held him tightly. It would not let him go until he was dragged into the bottomless abyss.

And then, Marilyn appeared. Julian suddenly thought of a saying, "There is always one thing to conquer another. Scorpions are afraid of roosters, and seedlings are afraid of mole crickets!

It seems that Malcolm obtains a lifebuoy when he is in the water."

The traffic jam didn't last for long. After the ambulance drove off, the road gradually became smooth.

Julian was very familiar with Fielddell. He looked in the direction the ambulance had left. And then he turned the steering wheel expertly and followed it.

The ambulance stopped at the entrance of the First People's Hospital of Fielddell.

Marilyn and the medical staff pushed Denise in.

On the way, Marilyn had told the doctor about Denise's pregnancy.

When they arrived at the hall of the hospital, a doctor said to Marilyn, "Hurry up and go through the hospitalization procedures. We'll check Marilyn out first."

"Alright, thank you." Marilyn looked at them and smiled gratefully.

Denise had always been clear-headed. However, after getting in the ambulance, she closed her eyes and was unwilling to say a word.

Marilyn watched as the doctor and Denise got into the elevator, and then she turned back to help Denise with the formalities.

The people who passed by her all had their eyes on her.

Only then did Marilyn have the time to look at herself. She saw that her white dress was covered in sludge, and her entire body was smelly.

Even her hair was covered in smelly mud.

Moreover, her forehead and knees were in pain.

When she saved Denise, she slipped twice. The first time, her knees hit the stone steps. The second time, she fell and her forehead hit the stone steps. She could not remember it clearly. At that time, she did not feel pain. But now, she could feel it.

Marilyn touched her forehead slightly. It was so painful as if it was burning. She saw that there was blood. She frowned slightly and did not care much.

The most important thing was that her cell phone had fallen into the water when she was saving Denise.

"Damn it!"

Marilyn cursed in her heart. If Dominic found out that she had not returned for a long time, he would be worried.

Marilyn looked around. She found a nurse and explained Denise's situation. The nurse told her the process of handling the procedures. Marilyn quickly completed the hospitalization procedures for Denise.

She had paid the fee and gotten a treatment card for Denise. She was about to find Denise on the second floor.

When she looked up, she saw Malcolm and Julian walking in.
