Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 104

Ch. 104 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Marilyn smiled and said, "Dominic, come and eat. I have a day off today. I will go out to buy groceries later and cook delicious food for you tonight. And we'll invite Roland to come over and eat together."

"Alright!" Dominic smiled and nodded, "Your cooking is delicious!"

However... Dominic looked up at the wound on his mother's forehead. He narrowed his clear eyes slightly.

"Mom, you are injured."

Marilyn smiled and glanced at him. He looked worried with his eyes clear and innocent as if she had deceived him.

She smiled and said in a gentle tone, "Dominic, it's just a scratch. It's fine. Help yourself! It won't taste good when it gets cold later."

"Alright!" Dominic nodded and had lunch, not saying anything else.

After lunch, Marilyn took a shower. Staying up the whole night, she was very sleepy.

After giving Dominic some instructions, she fell asleep on the sofa.

Dominic was still reading the books he was interested in and did not disturb his mother's sleep.

He would only occasionally look at his mother and smile.

He had never liked to smile. Only in front of his mother would he smile happily like a child.

He was shaped by his growth. He had no father since he was a child. Seeing his mother working so hard, he became quiet and obedient in case his mother worried.

For ordinary people, families with twins were always like a battlefield.

However, their family was more than happy and harmonious.

Grandma, in particular, treated them as her own grandchildren and did her best to cook every meal. She was so nice to them.

Dominic smiled happily and looked down at his book.

Time ticked by. Malcolm was as anxious as a cat on hot bricks.

But Marilyn slept soundly.

She didn't wake up until the evening.

The streetlamps were on, and the neon lights were dazzling.

Seeing his mother wake up, Dominic got up and handed her a glass of water.

He smiled and said, "Mom, drink some water. Uncle Roland is already waiting for us at the barbecue stall. We had planned to eat French food, but you have been sleeping. It is better to go to the barbecue stall now."

"Alright..." Marilyn nodded, her voice a little hoarse. She felt much more comfortable after a nap.

She looked out of the window and sighed.

She had said that she was going to buy groceries to cook. However, she had slept for so long. She shook her head slightly.

She looked at her son and said apologetically, "Dominic, I'm sorry. I fell asleep. I planned to make you some food."

"Mom, your health is more important!" Dominic shook his head.

Marilyn smiled gently, "Dominic, with you by my side, I'm really happy.

"Wait a minute. After I get dressed, we will go out. It is almost eight o'clock. You must be hungry, right?"

Marilyn said as she put on her shoes, got up, and walked to the wardrobe.

Dominic looked at her slender back and said, "Mom, I'm not hungry."

Seeing his mother sleeping soundly, he didn't want to wake her up.

Marilyn turned around and looked at her son with a happy smile, thinking, "This is what a happy life is like." Every time she thought of her three children, she felt hopeful.

She quickly changed her clothes and put on white sportswear. She looked simple and pure. Then she went out with Dominic.

Malcolm had been waiting anxiously in the office.

However, two uninvited people came.

There was a knock at the door.

Someone knocked on the office door. Malcolm stood up excitedly and said, "Come in."

To his surprise, the people who came in were Velma and Debbie.

Malcolm glanced at Velma and then at Debbie. He asked, "Mrs. Remington, it's late now. Why are you here?"

Debbie was dressed in a graceful and luxurious rose-red suit with luxurious jewelry. She smiled and said, "Malcolm, I heard from Velma what happened between the two of you this morning. Velma was too tired. Don't be angry. I'm here to apologize to you for Velma."

Hearing this, Malcolm narrowed his eyes and looked at Velma with a sharp gaze. "Mrs. Remington, you don't have to do this. You don't have to apologize. You can go back first. I have to work overtime."

He said indifferently and sat back in his chair. From beginning to end, he didn't even greet Velma.

He thought, "Julian should be back now.

Stewart had a way to get the result today.

Velma went to change her hair for another identification and spent a lot of money.

Julian watched the entire process and personally monitored her. Unfortunately, she did not know that after she left, Julian changed her share.

Therefore, the wolf has a winning game when the shepherds quarrel. The result of the identification will not be of Carolyn.

Only Stewart can give me the answer."

Debbie looked at him with concern. She put the bag on the table and said, "Malcolm, this is the soup that I brought for you. There is also porridge that you like. Work is important, but don't tire yourself out."

"Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Remington!" Malcolm's tone was indifferent and distant.

Velma glanced at the soup on the table and hesitated.

She smiled and took a few steps forward. She looked at Malcolm and said gently, "Malcolm, have some while it's warm. It won't taste good when it gets cold. This is made by my mother."

Velma said as she took out the thermos from the bag.

She took out the prepared bowl with a smile. Just as she was about to get some in the bowl, the bowl suddenly slipped and the soup instantly splashed on Debbie's expensive clothes.

Following her clothes, some soup dripped on Debbie's feet.

Feeling the burning heat, Debbie quickly took a step back and screamed.

"Oh no! Mom, are you fine? The soup spilled a little. I didn't hold it properly. Mom, did you get hurt?" Velma looked at her anxiously, flustered.

Malcolm looked at everything in front of him coldly. He sat quietly, not saying a word, as if he was watching a show that he hated very much. His dark eyes were full of disgust.

"Why are you so careless? I have spent more than two hours on it and you just spilled it. Malcolm didn't even have time to take a sip." Debbie was cross and her tone was reproachful.

She looked down at the dirt on her clothes and her face clouded over.

"Mom, I'll take you to the hospital. Don't get scalded." Velma looked anxious and worried.

Debbie looked at her, who was anxious. She immediately softened. She shook her head and said, "No need. Wait for me here. I'll go to the bathroom and will be back soon."

Then Debbie went out.
