Debbie frowned when she heard what Marilyn said.
Especially when she looked at Marilyn's clear and bright eyes. It was like they could see through people's thoughts.
Seeing Marilyn being so eye-catching, Velma was a little upset.
While Debbie suddenly felt a burning sensation on her face.
There was not a single swear word in Marilyn's words, but Debbie felt like she had been insulted by Marilyn.
Seeing Debbie being like that, Velma said, "Mom, don't lower yourself to the same level as that kind of people who live at the bottom of society. Other than having a glib tongue, they could only get what they want by those lowly methods."
Marilyn did not wait for Debbie to speak but refuted coldly, "Velma, what do you mean 'that kind of people'? Do you mean people like you who love to throw their weight around and always take revenge on others for the sake of the things they can't get? Is that what you meant?"
"I know the Remington family is rich, but I will not be envious, or jealous. I don't rely on the Remington family. So, if you want to show off, you can make it on TV and show off in front of the whole country. You will get tons of people that envy you."
After Marilyn finished speaking, she did not leave. Instead, she stood there lazily.
She'd love to see what kind of expressions Velma and Debbie would have on their faces.
Marilyn's eyes were as clear as water as if nothing in the world could taint them. And her cherry lips were as tender as honey.
She was glowing!
Suddenly the quietness was broken.
The sound of hand-clapping came from the elevator entrance.
Marilyn, Debbie, and Velma followed the sound.
It was Sergio. With his body perfectly outlined by the self-fitting well-tailored casual attire, he looked tall and straight, meantime highly dignified.
He eyed Marilyn with a gentle smile. He had never seen Marilyn being like this. She was so charming!
"Sergio..." Velma's face turned pale.
Sergio did not look at her, nor did he look at Debbie. Instead, he walked straight toward Marilyn.
"What a coincidence. Marilyn, are you also here for shopping?" His voice was warm and gentle.
Sergio fixed his eyes on Marilyn's, which were as sparkling as obsidian that he could even see his figure reflecting in them clearly.
Marilyn nodded with a smile. "Yes! Sergio, I have nothing to do on the weekend, so I came out to take a stroll and familiarize myself with Fielddell."
"Marilyn, in non-working time, just call me Sergio!"
Sergio could still recall the first time he saw her. Her starry eyes and the faint smile on her face were just memorable.
"Oh... OK..." Marilyn was a little confused because they were not close.
As the two chatted, Debbie and Velma seemed to have been forgotten.
Seeing that Marilyn was popular with men, Velma was very jealous.
She had originally thought that Debbie's words would hurt Marilyn, but now she and Debbie were the embarrassed ones.
What was even more embarrassing was that Sergio saw it.
In the eyes of outsiders, Velma had always looked gentle and innocent!
However, what happened today just broke her many years of pretense.
What was worse, Malcolm, Julian, and Sergio were buddies. Sergio would definitely tell the other two what he saw today!
Debbie roared, "Sergio, don't believe this girl! Don't forget that your mother Maureen is strict with the choice of your future girlfriend. Such kind of girl..."
"What kind?" Sergio suddenly turned around and interrupted her. He looked at Debbie with a sharp and disdainful look.
Debbie was born into a wealthy family and had always been flattered for most of her life. Such disdainful eyes just got her to lose her temper.
Irritated to see Sergio's cold and disdainful gaze, Debbie couldn't help but say loudly, "Sergio, those are words from a gentleman? What is that look in your eyes?"
As for the younger generation, they had always been respectful to her. She knew their parents.
She had watched them grow up since she was young.
However, all of them had gone against her for Marilyn now. Debbie felt quite upset about that.
Marilyn was simply a vixen!
Completely different from what he used to be, Sergio smiled coldly and leaned slightly to the side, having Debbie fully enveloped by his tall figure.
Debbie instantly felt a sense of oppression coming from above.
"Mrs. Remington, I always thought that you were a sensible person.
"But what you have done today really surprised me. Marilyn is the director of the Lowe Group. You can just politely say hello to her when you guys meet. Why did you say so? Is she a sinner because she comes here?
"Mrs. Remington, not only the rich deserve the respect. Normal people like us also have emotions. We will also feel hurt if we are attacked, even if it is a verbal attack!" Sergio's tone was flat.
But to Debbie, each word was like a stab to the heart.
She had to agree with Sergio's words.
She was well-educated and she was a noble lady!
Once she saw Marilyn, she just failed to control herself!
She had even lost the bearing she had always had!
"Sergio, how can you speak to Debbie with such an attitude? Debbie and Maureen are good friends. You should show some respect." Velma gritted her teeth as she looked at Sergio.
She had long disliked Sergio.
Sergio had been going against her all the time since he became Malcolm's secretary.
Sergio had not only stopped her from entering Malcolm's office but also told Malcolm about everything she didn't want him to know.
Sergio curled his lips into a mocking smile. "Velma, if you want others to respect you, you should respect them first."
"Sergio..."
"Please excuse us." Sergio did not want to hear another word from Velma.
Velma had always been soft on the outside but vicious on the inside.
The reason he hated Velma was simple.
Sergio remembered that one time at his family banquet, all the guests were his mother's good friends. Velma had broken an antique.
She didn't admit it but passed the buck to his cousin.
Since then, Velma was on his blacklist.
One could be shameless, but at least one should keep the bottom line.
After all, one would reap what he or she had sown.
Velma had violated Sergio's bottom line, so he hated her.
