Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 105

Ch. 105 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Velma saw Debbie leave and a faint sneer of satisfaction crossed her face. She thought, "Mom, I'm sorry. I have to use your affection for Malcolm tonight."

Velma turned around and glanced at Malcolm uneasily.

When she met his cold gaze, she felt a little nervous.

Malcolm was still sitting lazily and elegantly. He looked at her with a half-smile.

Velma suddenly felt a little uneasy because she felt that he had seen through everything.

She forced a smile and looked at Malcolm, saying, "Malcolm, I'm very sorry. I accidentally knocked over the soup my mother had been cooking for two hours.

"After I went back, I cried. My mother saw me crying. She was very worried about me and kept asking me what happened.

"I could only tell her about the thing that happened in the morning. She made soup tonight and wanted to send it to you..."

Velma did not continue saying, but Malcolm knew what she meant.

After Malcolm heard this, he just sneered and did not speak.

Malcolm thought, "How hypocritical you are! Julian has reported all of your whereabouts to me today. Otherwise, I'll be cheated by you."

He said, "You don't have to apologize to me. As an employee, you'll be subject to a term of probation of three months. I am not an unreasonable person. I was too impulsive in the morning. I should not swear at you." His voice dripped sarcasm.

Malcolm thought, "What a clumsy performance! The more you say, the more I feel sick.

You have taken Carolyn's place for so many years, and now you even want to stop me from finding Carolyn. I won't let you go."

Malcolm rocked backward and forwards on his chair, looking charming. Velma was deeply attracted to him.

It was rare for Velma to see such a wild Malcolm. The Malcolm she saw was always cold, ice-like, and distant.

She smiled gently and said, "Thank you, Malcolm. I will definitely work harder in the future."

Velma glanced behind her. She was a little worried. If Julian did not come back now, Debbie would definitely suspect Velma.

After all, she began to prepare for the play tonight at noon.

Velma was a little anxious.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She gave a smile because she knew that Julian had returned.

Velma thought, "Malcolm, I'll give you a disappointing answer tonight. You'll have given up on Carolyn, right?"

No matter how powerful Velma's parents were, they were not as powerful as Malcolm. As long as Malcolm did not interfere in this matter, Velma would have a way to make her parents unable to find Carolyn forever.

Velma thought, "I can't let Carolyn go back to the Remington family."

Julian shouted from outside the door, "Malcolm, I'm back."

Malcolm didn't say anything. Instead, he sat quietly and waited for Julian to come in.

When Julian came in and saw that Velma was also there, he was shocked. He asked, "Miss Remington, why are you here at this hour?"

Today, Julian had a busy day because of Velma. He was completely exhausted. He didn't expect that Velma would be here to get some information.

Malcolm asked coldly, "How is it?"

Julian flashed a look at Malcolm. He thought, "What do you mean?

Should I tell the truth?"

He sighed in his mind.

Julian thought, "I'm so stupid! Velma is here, so naturally, I shouldn't tell the truth."

"She's not Mrs. Remington's daughter." Julian pretended to look at Malcolm with a disappointed expression.

"Are you sure?" Malcolm frowned and looked at Julian. He gave Julian a big thumbs up in his mind.

Julian said, "Malcolm, I'm sorry. You have to continue to go back and have nightmares. If you are lucky, Carolyn will definitely go to your dreams and tell you where she is, then you can find her quickly."

Velma was relieved when she heard what Julian said.

She looked at Malcolm gratefully and said with a sad face, "Malcolm, are you looking for Carolyn? So many years have passed, but we still don't know where she is."

"You don't have to worry about where she is. You can go back now!" Malcolm's tone was cold and he looked at Velma coldly. He hated Velma very much.

"Okay! I'll leave now." After getting a satisfactory answer, Velma felt very happy.

She thought, "Malcolm, you've been disappointed again and again. You should have given up finding her, right?

She has been dead for many years. It's impossible for you to find her."

"Julian, why are you here too?" Debbie came back at this time.

Julian smiled at Debbie and said, "Mrs. Remington, I'm here to work overtime. If I don't work overtime, Malcolm will fire me."

Debbie smiled in agreement and looked at Malcolm with a worried face, saying, "Yes. He is dedicated to his work. He even can't look after himself well."

It seemed that Malcolm had never been happy since Elvira left and Carolyn was lost.

Debbie knew that Malcolm was very pitiful.

Therefore, she never blamed Malcolm for accidentally losing Carolyn.

Debbie didn't like Yvonne because Yvonne had destroyed Malcolm's warm home. However, the Lowe Group and the Remington family had a cooperative relationship, and they were neighbors. Therefore, Debbie had to deal with Yvonne even though she disliked Yvonne very much.

Debbie clearly knew that the people who maintained their marriage for the sake of responsibility were acting every day like actors. Those people could not even express their feelings at will.

Debbie felt that the Lowes must be very tired. At least, she and Tyrone loved each other.

Velma smiled at Malcolm and said in a sweet voice, "Malcolm, Julian, we will be leaving now."

Malcolm didn't even raise his head. He was still sitting there with a cold expression on his face.

Julian nodded at them before Debbie and Velma left.

This time, Julian watched Debbie and Velma enter the elevator before he closed the office door.

Back in the office, Julian sat down on the sofa and took a deep breath.

He felt very tired.

Julian sighed.

He tugged at his tie and gasped for breath, his chest heaving.
