In a king size bed, Andrei woke up with an extreme headache. There were empty bottles of liquors on the floor and the clothes he was wearing was the same from yesterday. Turns out he had been so drunk that he was immediately knocked down.
He got up while rubbing his temples. Looking around the messy room, his head can’t help but ache more. He stood up as he kicked aside some bottles on the way.
He walked towards the bathroom while taking of his clothes. He casually tossed it in the side as he stepped in the shower.
The cold water splashed his body and his aching head cold down a bit. He washed himself as he dazedly leaned on the white wall for a moment.
These past few days flew past like the wind and his life felt like an empty shell. He spent his days with booze, sex, and loud music, and during those times, he felt he was in a trance. Only times like right now, when he was alone and sober, does he felt the emptiness and dejection of life.
He can’t help but think about Anya, his wife, and the company that was falling down, after he sacrificed everything, as well as the woman he loves, for the sake of his prestige. But it was still plummeted down.
He wondered what would have happened if he didn’t do all those things to Anya? That maybe when he was in his low, he still had her beside him. Comforting him and burying him in her soft and fragrant arms.
He looked back at that time when the company was also in the brink of bankruptcy. Ah, at that time, Anya was still beside him, cooking for him and comforting him. But at that time, he didn’t notice nor had he been aware of it. He only thought about the company and his problems.
Maybe it was really true that you would only know the importance of something when it is gone.
Had he screwed up?
He can’t help but thought. He greatly believed that he could still win her back, that if he tried his best, he could still get her. But what now?
He didn’t have her in his arms, and he was also losing the company he worked for.
A punch landed in the tiled wall, as Andrei gritted his teeth. He can’t help but pull on his hair as he was once again bombed with frustrations.
He needed alcohol.
Was the only thing he could think of at the moment. He quickly finished his shower and went out.
He casually put on some clothes he could grab and went down scrolling on his phone and looking for a nice place to spend his day away.
When he went down the stairs, he saw a familiar and annoying face that had been appearing for a few days now.
“Mr. Davids.” The secretary of Ellen called out to him with anxiousness. Andrei only passed by him and threw off cold words.
“I’m not going back.”
Andrei was still holding a grudge for his grandma. He doesn’t need another lecture nor problems right now.
“Sir! The Madame is sick right now! Please, go and meet her!” The secretary exclaimed. Andrei stopped on his tracks as he heard the words.
“What?” He asked as he turned back.
He was angry at her, but she was still his grandmother after all.
“Sir, the Madame had an attack yesterday. And she is looking for you know, please.” The secretary could only plead. She just cursed her luck as she fell in this company. It was on the brink of bankruptcy and she was here, pleading for this prodigal grandson to return. Sigh.
Andrei heard her words and can’t help but ponder. He sighed. He can’t let that old woman die, can he?
“Let’s go.” He coldly ordered as he finally walked out and entered the car waiting outside.
Ellen leaned on the bed frame of her bed. A blanket was draped on half of her body. Although she wasn’t really sick, still, the past problems and fluctuations of her emotions had taken toll on her health. This crisis had made her weak, and she was waiting for her grandson to come home.
Her secretary informed her that finally, he was willing to come back. She sighed. She needed to convince him and open his eyes now. He needed to realize what he would lose if he continues to be this way.
The door of her bedroom opened and she saw her grandson walk in. He was in casual clothes that looked a little baggy. He also had not shaven and his beard had grown.
His once refined and handsome grandson had looked rugged.
Tears can’t help swell on her eyes. She was very disappointed in him, but seeing him this way also pained her heart.
“My grandson, what happened to you..” She whispered as she reached out her old and wrinkled hand.
Andrei saw this and his heart can’t help but stir. His grandmother had been a lofty and arrogant woman, luxurious and used to be high up. But right now, without the make up and jewelries, only wrinkles and white hair, she was just an ordinary woman. She looked like she aged more for these past few days.
“Why..” Ellen asked. What happened to him? Why is he doing this? Things had only been getting good, and now, it was square one all over again.
“Grandma, that man stole Anya away from me!” Andrei can’t help but exclaim indignantly.
Ellen heard this and she can’t help but curse that woman again.
“Her?! All of this for a single woman?!” She retorted back.
“Don’t be like that. It is also because of you that Anya had a hard life in our family. I love her grandma, I..” Andrei weakened as he sunk in his despair once again.
He loves her. So damn much. Only now did he realize why he had been so angry when she got pregnant. And why he wanted her to suffer so much. He loves her, but it was blinded by anger.
He wanted to torment her, but he could not also bare to let her go. He want her to come crawling back to him, to realize he is the only man that could ever be in her life.
He wanted to make her feel his anger, make her jealous, make her suffer, but also, locked in his arms.
He was his woman. He wanted her!
Ellen could only look helplessly as the emotions on Andrei face could be read in an instant. That woman had really bewitched her grandson.
“You want her, but with what means?” She asked tauntingly. She had thought of this, and she could only use this emotion to push his grandson.
Andrei was speechless for a while.
“Now that you don’t have power, how could you take her back. Will she still choose you when now you have nothing ?” Ellen said to her grandson.
Andrei felt he was slapped with reality. He came back to his senses and thought of it clearly. The emptiness of the past days had finally hit him.
Right, he wouldn’t go anywhere when he stays like this. he needed to get back and steal her back. He still needed to destroy Damon Castellano!
Ellen saw the realization in her grandson’s face and pushed even more.
“If you want to have her back, bring back our company to prosperity. You need to have power if you want to get what you want. You already know that.” Ellen added solemnly.
Andrei heard this, and yes, he knew. He grew up with this thinking being engraved in his mind. He needed power and wealth, with only these can he truly get what he wants.
Andrei lowered his head and in the next moment, he raised it with a different hint of gaze in his eyes. There was fire in his heart and it was reflected in his countenance.
“Grandma, your grandson understands.” His dark voice rang across the room, and it was the start of something brewing.
