ADRIA’S POV
I gulped down my saliva in discomfort. I wasn’t really given any information about them, so I didn’t know what to expect from them, and if there ever was recorded in history that they could get angry to an extent of sucking whoever came here, blood.
“I guess I’m just to rely on my instincts.” I thought to myself.
“What’s your name?” One of them asked, flatly.
“I’m Adria.”
“I see. You are here to fulfil a task just so you can wake up.” Another said, looking at me like she was suspecting something.
Although, I could sense that these women were looking at me like they could see what I couldn’t. I just wanted to be done here and leave this weird place.
“Yes.” I responded calmly.
“Alright, I am Veronica.” The first vampire introduced herself with a flat expression.
“I am Valerie.” The second introduced herself as well.
“And I am Victoria.” The third one said
“So, what do I need to do now?” I asked desperately after a brief silence.
“You have to complete our tasks. You can either get two or three of them right. If you get less than two right, then you will be stuck here for years.” Veronica informed me, with a stern expression.
“I understand. I am ready to do the tasks.” I accepted, hoping the tasks would not be too difficult for me to carry out.
“She seems determined.” Victoria whispered, staring at me with her other eye.
“Who won’t be determined to wake up from a nightmare slumber?” Veronica uttered. “I will be the first to give you a task to carry out and what you need to do is to get the blood of a trickster for me.” She instructed as she played with her hair, slowly.
“The blood of a trickster? How would I get the blood or even recognize the trickster?” I asked, inquisitively, and also baffled on the reason they gave me such task.
“You do not need to know the details on that. But it is a power-up for me. There’ll be someone who would lead you to the trickster, and make things easier for you, I guess. So, brace up.” She explained further and crossed her lap.
“Oh, I see.”I pursed my lips, nodded slowly.
“So, an hour glass will follow you everywhere you go. Once your time is up, or you have completed the task, you will appear here. If you don’t complete the task before your time is up, then you have failed the task.”
“Al…Alright. I understand.” I agreed, hoping for the best.
Before I could ask for more details on the journey, Valerie snapped her fingers, and I found myself in another land.
I found myself at a beach, and the water looked blue and intimidating. The sun was high up in the sky, scorching like it regarded every living thing here as its enemy. I looked back and noticed that there was a thick forest there, and it looked dangerous to be there at night.
“The hour glass.” I muttered under my breath, and looked left and right for it, but didn’t see it until I looked forward. “Shit! You scared me.” I yelled as my heart beat went faster than usual due to the fear.
The hour glass hovered around me, and then turned upside down.
“I know right? My time starts time now, and no precious time to waste.”
Then I looked far beyond the water and then decided to walk further on the beach to search for the man. The sand was making it hard for me to move as fast as I needed to, so I had to use my whole strength as I raised each leg up to make big strides.
I looked around, but still caught no sight of anyone. The only thing making sounds was the waves and the wind which brushed past me at intervals. I let out an exhausted sigh, getting tired of this whole journey.
“Hello?” I called out to anyone who could be there.
But there was no response.
“Is there really an end to this beach?” I said sharply, and sat on the sand, then looked beyond the water.
“I really can’t go into that woods if that is where he is. But I do not want to fail this task. What if the other tasks are harder and this is my only chance to fail.” I said to the air and slammed my hand on my face, feeling downcast.
I ruffled my hair in frustration and bit my lips, with tears filling my eyes up.
“I wish I wasn’t born this way to be going through nightmares, having migraines, and now on a journey that would tell if I would ever wake up.” I busted out in tears, feeling really downcast in my soul.
Then the hour glass came closer to my face, and I stared at it sadly, then sighed deeply.
“You are adding to my frustration, do you know that?” I let out a sharp breath, stood up and cleaned my tears.
I looked around once again, and then bit my lips.
“I do not think he would live in the woods. He probably is somewhere on the beach, and if this beach has a cave, then that will be my best bet. He would certainly be in a cave.” I calculated, and sniffled. “Come on, hour glass, let’s move.” I urged, hoping I was right.
I tried my best to walk faster, and ensured I never gave up even as it felt as if the sand was holding me back. Soon, I got to a part of the beach where the sand wasn’t much, so I was able to move freely, and walk faster
Walking a bit further, I sighted a cave, and a smile crept up on my face. Also, a sense of achievement washed through me. My burdened heart felt lightened, so I ran towards the cave with delight. As soon as I got to the cave, I noticed it was dark and spooky.
“Hello?” I called out in a careful tone.
But only my voice came back to me as an echo and I glanced at the hour glass. My time was running out and it seems i had to toss away fear at this point.
“Let’s do this.”
