Chapter 124 Looking like a frame up

Ch. 123 / 155 Apr 28, 2026

Ethan's POV

" Rachel is not a murderer". I said coldly and the man immediately nodded.

"Yes, she... She isn't. " He agreed and I rolled my eyes.

He was not even trying to save face at all in front of me. It was disgusting.

"If she's not guilty then why is she in your station?" I asked after a while putting the man in a tight spot.

The robust man began to sweat around his neck and on his forehead as he gulped looking everywhere but at my face.

"Do... Do you want to have her released? I can arrange for that right away, but it's just that... Em, the family of the late girl are not going to easily back down on this case ".

Of course, they were not; it was their daughter we were talking about.

It would be every parent reaction to want to get justice for their children, but to me Lana doesn't deserve it. But if freeing Rachel from prison meant getting justice for Lana, well so he it then..

" What are the evidences exactly that you have against Rachel? " I asked after a while.

The man was already fidgeting and I was sure if I didn't speak up soon, he was going to start hyperventilating.

He was confused about what to do and my gaze wasn't helping either, I knew.

" Evidence? " He gulped again. " Em, that... They would still be with the detectives in charge of the case ". He replied and I nodded.

"Good then, call them ". I ordered.

I didn't even notice I had ordered the man in a military like fashion, the way I used to years ago.

He only knew my surname and my status in this country and he was already so close to hyperventilation or even hypertension. What would he do when he finds out my position in the military before I left? The man would probably faint out of shock.

With shaky hands he took hold of the wireless desk phone on his table and dialed a number.

"Come to my office immediately". He commanded the person at the other end of the phone as soon as the call went through, then he ended it.

" He would be here soon ". He said trembling.

I just smirked at the fat trembling man before glancing at my phone.

Mark had said he was going to give me a call as soon as they were done with that female officer, were they not done yet?

I picked the phone up and began scrolling the news.

Rachel topic was number one and was trending in almost all the news platforms.

I kept on scrolling until I got to one

' Rachel Andrews murders real daughter of the Andrews out of jealousy just after completing the shooting of a movie with her '

This was bad, really bad, especially for Rachel.

She just began her acting career and now with the news and everything, it was going to have to come to an halt even after she was out of here.

I glanced at the name of the station which printed that news and made a phone call.

It connected in just two rings.

" I want every news concerning Rachel and Lana down in the next three hours". I ordered. " Also, sue Lash News Corp for slander ".

I brought mt phone down from my ears and looked towards the chief who was staring at me with an expression on disbelief.

I was just about to ask what he wanted when a knock sounded from the door.

" It must be the detective " He said to me and I nodded. " Come in".

A young man, around his mid twenties walked in. I could see the confusion on his face when he saw me sitting on the chief's chair, but thankfully for him he didn't ask.

" You sent for me sir ". He said respectfully giving the chief a small bow.

"Yes, er... I did. You are in charge of the Andrew's murder case right? "

I rolled my eyes at his question.

'Of course he was in charge, you knew he was in charge before calling him in here! '

"Look here kid..." I called out to the man who I was only like two years older than, or even less. " I want to know the evidences you have against Rachel Andrews".

" Sir? " Detective Williams became even more confused. " Are you a lawyer? Because the court already decided... "

" What is wrong with you boy? Can't you tell a powerful man by just a look? Tell him the damn evidences! " The chief interrupted him and I just looked at the two in amusement.

If it wasn't for how urgent I needed Rachel to be out of her, this would have been fun to watch.

The detective hesitated, as if contemplating in his mind whether he should tell me or not.

Again if not for how urgent the situation was, I would have praised him for trying to act civil in a corrupted country like ours.

" Speak up, I don't have much time". I said coldly and the detective looked up at me before immediately lowering his eyes afraid to met mine again.

" We found the Ms Rachel's finger prints on the murder weapon".

I blinked in surprise.

They found what now?

How was that even possible?

" How are you sure it's Rachel's?" I asked curiously.

"It is. " The detective nodded. " We ran a scan and both finger prints matched "

Okay, this was definitely looking like a frame up.

" What else?"

The fingerprint was good enough evidence, but I could bet there was more since Rachel wasn't even given the benefit of a doubt of being called a suspect, she was already considered the killer.

" Well, we also found some hair samples "

" And those are hers too?" I asked this time in amusement and the detective nodded again

The killer was really desperate to frame Rachel so she even had to take the extra mile.

" Not only that, we did some investigation and found out that both Ms Rachel and Ms Lana hadn't been on good terms lately, so there was a huge probability she was the one who killed her ".

I leaned back on the chair and I saw the detective arch a brow at me, but I didn't care. " Did the entire crime scene not look like a set up to you? You found Rachel's fingerprint and hair at the scene of the crime, if she was the killer why didn't she clear all evidences?"

" It looked like the killer was in a hurry to leave so she forgot to, or as Ms Rachel Andrews case may be, Ms Lana may have been her first murder and had no idea how to ' clear all evidences ' " The detective bit back and I was taken aback by his audacity.

I smirked shaking my head. " This must have been the most easiest crime for you to solve am I right? The hair and fingerprints were already there all you had to do was identify". I mocked and detective Williams frowned.

" With all due respect, I won't have you insult my job sir. We carried out the investigation as meticulously as we do others and we found the culprit ". He spat in anger.

My smirk intensified as I watch the look on the chief's face gradually transform to horror.

" How dare you talk to him like that! " He slapped the detective arm. I could see even just by looking at him that he was about to have an heart attack.

"Sir didn't you see your guest was putting me down. I was only doing my job." The detective said defending himself.

The chief laughed nervously slapping detective Williams hands with each word. "Doing your job, DOING YOUR JOB?! Do you know who you are talking to? You only started work just two years ago and you've already started courting death?"

"No one is above the law? Who is he anyways?" Detective Williams said firmly gesturing to me.

"You don't know who he is, you stupid boy? That's Ethan Wright!"

I watched as the expression of defiance on the young detective wavered as realization dawned on him.

"What the..."
