Chapter 152 The moment of truth

Rachel's POV

My brows went up as soon as I saw the person who came out to open the door.

I was at Marina's house, and there was a shirtless Mark at the door with a frown on his face.

He looked really hot and packed, too bad I was already too deeply in love with Ethan, Not like Marina would just leave him for me anyways.

" What the fuck are you... " I paused taking in a huge breath.

This was Marina's house, and they were, according to her ' somehow together '.

" Can I come in?" I asked instead.

"You're already in " Mark calmly remarked, stepping away from the door and going back into the house.

" You're already in ". I mimicked walking into the house.

" What are you doing here?" He asked as soon as I say down.

I shrugged, giving him an indifferent look. "Came to visit my best friend, what about you? What are you doing here?"

" This is my girlfriend's house". He answered me calmly.

Then an awkward silence engulfed the entire room, as we both stared down at each other.

He was trying to put me off, flaunting that Marina was his girlfriend. Last time I checked, she said they were somehow together, which meant they were not.

'Marina!!! Where the fuck are you? ' I yelled inward while trying my best to stay calm.

Mark cleared his throat and I looked at him. " I attended the producers and directors meeting yesterday ". He said breaking the long silence.

He attended? " You attended? " I wondered.

" Oh yeah". I snapped my fingers as I remembered. "You're Fredrick Walker's unfilial grandson who refuses to come back and take his place in the family". I said sarcastically making Mark roll his eyes.

" Do you really want to go there now? Fine. It's not me who they were talking about ". He crossed his hands and looked away.

I bit my bottom lip in annoyance, before grunting a ' fine '.

I didn't have to succumb to him, I could always just ask Ethan about it. But there was no guarantee Ethan would tell me the exact truth if it was something bad, he wouldn't want me to worry.

" What did they say? I know they are taking me off, but are they cutting the entire movie?"

All because of one huge scandal, I might actually lose my new found career.

" Lana always finds a way to make my life miserable, even in death. "

" There was a lot of argument... "

" Argument? What were they arguing about? It should be a unanimous decision to take me off the movie, so what were they arguing about? Are they not going to even bring out the firm? " I asked all at once in one breath. By the time I was done, I was almost breathless.

" Relax for fuck sake and let me finish ". Mark groaned throwing me a glare.

I nodded, before pointing at his toned chest. " Before you finish, can you go... I don't know, maybe wear a shirt? Don't make it so obvious that you're trying to seduce me. "

" Seduce... " Mark shook his head, flashing me a disbelief look before standing up from the sofa, probably to get changed

I giggled to myself as I watched the man practically run away.

Of course I knew he wasn't even thinking of seducing me, but just seeing him shirtless like that was getting me uncomfortable, and not in a good way.

Plus I also wanted to make him speechless, and my my did it work.

" Are you ready to hear it now? " He asked after a few minutes coming out of a corner now fully dressed.

I sat up straight and let out a sigh. " Yeah, what did they say. "

" Due to the recent scandal about you killing Lana, which so happens to be a fellow actress in the film, the producers had to suspend it till further notice. To avoid the damages Lana fans would cause if it gets out ".

I nodded, listening keenly.

I has already anticipated that part, I would just be business suicide to release the movie now, that wasn't even what really worried about.

" What about me?"

" They had this long argument on whether you should be kept or not. Alot of people picked you should be fired immediately, and then banned so other entertainment companies wouldn't hire you..."

" I know what would happen, so what did they decide? " I interrupted anxiously.

Mark knew he was making me even more anxious, yet he still kept doing whatever he was doing.

Was this revenge for whatever happened to Marina yesterday? I wondered but still kept my focus and attention on him.

I seriously wished Marina was the one telling me the details, I would have long known my end by now, also she would have stood up for me, definitely.

"Did Marina not go to the meeting?"

Mark shook his head. " She couldn't, something urgent came up ".

Urgent? I blinked multiple times in surprise.

"Even more urgent than finding out whether her best friend would continue her acting career or result in finding another new job? "

" Yes. " Mark just nodded and I rolled my eyes.

" Now if you'll let me get back to what happened...".

"Yeah, right that ". I nodded before holding my breath.

This was the moment of truth.

"They were about firing you, and then sueing you for all the damage your name has caused to the company but then, Raine stood up for you".

Raine? My brows shot up.

" He insisted that you didn't do it, and trust when I say even I was surprised and convinced. "

What was that supposed to mean?

" Hey, I really didn't do it ".

" I know ". Mark bobbed his head up and down. " But if I didn't, I would also be convinced".

" After everything, they decided to suspend you with the movie, if Lana's real murderer gets apprehended, you'll be back in the acting world".

" Really? " My face lit up with a smile. " That is great news. "

Suspended. Just suspended.

Although catching Lana's real killer was also going to be extremely hard, that's if the person doesn't make it impossible... But hey, I had a chance to act again.

And also there was a chance that the movie I almost died in was going to be getting out to the world.

This was great fucking news.

"I had thought my fate would be much worse " I began with a small satisfied laughter. " And maybe it would have if Raine didn't help me right?" I asked, more like said.

There was an obvious answer to that question, and that was yes, what I couldn't get was why Raine risked his name to help me.

We were friends, but we've only known each other for a few months.

Who does that?

"That was what Joyce and I were trying to tell you yesterday." A familiar voice said and I turned around sharply to the direction of the voice to see Marina coming out of a corner, the same one Raine went to to change.

"Raine is part of your family, actually he is your older brother."

My entire body stiffened as I stared at Marina in shock.

What was what?!

"Rachel, you're Emerald Nielson... The Nielson's missing daughter! "
