After Divorce: Loved by the Secret Billionaire CEO

Chapter 132 We may have to let her go

Ch. 131 / 155 Apr 28, 2026

Marina's POV

My mind began to wander about after sitting in the waiting room for almost an hour.

I was still yet to see Rachel and I was getting really bored. I couldn't just get on my phone because Lana's death was the most trending topic on social media right now, and I was afraid that if I even as much as glanced at it, I would get myself riled up.

I leaned into my chair shutting my eyes as I breath in and out calmly. Just when I was about falling asleep the sharp sound of something vibrating woke me up.

" Just who the hell is that? " I groaned, taking my phone out of my purse to check the ID caller.

Fuck, it was director George Stone.

Blinking my eyes in surprise, I cleared my throat severally before picking up the call.

" Yes sir, "

" Marina, you have heard the latest news, right? " The director's deep, stern voice came from the other side of the phone, and I gulped.

' Of course, I've heard. It took you almost four days to even call! '

" Yes, I have, sir," I said instead.

There was only one person who I respected the most, and that was the man on the phone. My job literally depended on it.

" So it's true then, Lana is dead, and Rachel is in prison for it?" He asked and I could sense the disbelief in his voice.

Maybe that was why he waited this long to call. He wanted to confirm whether it was true or not.

I couldn't blame him.

If it wasn't for the fact that Rachel's case was serious, I wouldn't have believed that the witch in Rachel's life was dead already.

" It's confirmed sir, but I assure you Rachel is not the murderer".

I knew the man was going there so why not just reach there before him?

Rachel said she didn't do it, so she didn't. I believe her.

I heard the director scoff from the other end of the phone. " But the news says otherwise. From what I've heard she won't even be given a hearing and the court is just going to pronounce judgment on her "

That was true, at least for the time being.

There was no way in hell Ethan was going to let that happen.

" Sir, but I believe she is not guilty. Rachel has no reason to kill Lana. "

" You sure about that? From what I've read they fought about a man recently ". I could sense the sarcasm in the director's voice, which made me grit my teeth.

"Look here Mr..."

"Excuse me?" I could bet if the man was here right now, he would be raising a brow at me.

I let out a slow breath, running my tongue over my lips. " I mean, Director George, we can't conclude yet until the court sentences her, " I said, trying my best to stay calm.

" Listen, director Marina, I don't care if Rachel and Lana had a dispute or not. But what I do care about is the fact that two of the top supporting actresses in the new movie are..." He paused probably looking for the right word to use. " Well, indisposed. "

" What are we going to do? Whether or not you believe Rachel killed Lana, in the eyes of the public, she is still a murderer. Now, what I've spent the past few days worried about is if we are still going to launch the new movie because I doubt it's something the fans would love to watch. "

" They are already throwing hateful comments about the movie and Lana's fans are starting an online riot. This is bad for business bad. "

I felt a shiver run down my as director George Stone was speaking.

I shut my eyes tightly, holding the phone even tighter in my hands. " What exactly are you saying? " I asked in a low defeated tone.

" You should know director Marina. Normally, I should have blamed you for introducing Rachel to us, but because she is such a good actress, I can't say anything. What I'm trying to say is that we may have to let her go " The director said at last.

Even though I knew what he was going to say I still felt a pang in my chest as he said it

" We will be having a meeting in a few days about it, and you are obliged to attend; there, we are going to decide Rachel Andrews's fate."

I nodded before realizing that he wasn't in front of me. " Alright. Where is the location?"

"It would be held back there in New York, the higher-ups orders. I'll be flying over there tomorrow "

I nodded again. " Thank you, sir. " I said before the call ended.

He said it was the higher-up's orders; could he mean Ethan?

Whatever he meant, there was no way I was missing this meeting.

I stood up from the chair I sat on before looking towards Rachel's room.

She may still not want to see me, but I had to tell her about what was happening.

After a lot of hesitating and contemplating, I found myself walking in the direction of Rachel's ward.

I had been here since she got admitted, occasionally going home to get some things and take care of some stuff, but I hadn't seen Rachel.

Had her anger subsided?

Was she going to be reasonable now?

I arrived at the door quicker than I thought and held the door knob about to turn it open before I shook my head.

Rachel would not like it if I just walked in unannounced.

I brought my hand to the door and knocked on it gently.

Joyce came out a few seconds later with a look of confusion and curiosity. " What is it? You know you could have just come in right?"

" I know". I said pursing my lips. " Just unsure of how Rachel would react to it. How is she doing now? " I asked remembering what Mark had told me earlier today.

" That bastard had the guts to come here to divorce her again; so despicable. " I spat.

But the truth was that I didn't blame him, I blamed Rachel.

" I warned her not to go back to him, once a bastard, always a bastard, I said, but who am I kidding. That girl is just so stubborn". I said out loud venting my frustration. " Did she cry? About David I mean". I added when I saw Joyce look at me in confusion.

"Not much, just a little she should have listened to your tears "

I blinked.

If it was that type of tears she cried, then that was good. Very good in fact.

At least now she appreciated me. I smiled smugly before suddenly remembering while I took this hold step to come see Rachel.

"I need to talk to Rachel urgently," I said to Joyce who looked back at the door.

"I won't stop you, just don't say anything to rile her up okay."

I nodded, and the doctor moved away, giving me a free pass to Rachel's room.

I sincerely had no idea where Ethan got his kind of people from. First, it was Mark, then Lenora, and now her.

They were all like God sent!

" Thank you, Joyce, for everything. " I said with a thankful smile to Joyce before going inside the room.

" Marina? " Rachel asked looking surprised.

" What? You didn't expect to see me that much? " I scoffed, finding a seat not too far from her bed.

It was quite relieving to see that she was doing much better. The bruises on her cheeks and hands were already fading and her beauty was returning.

Not like it ever left.
