Chapter 131 Investigate Ethan

David's POV

" Have you gone crazy? That was Ethan Wright and you disrespected Rachel in front of him!" Jameson thundered as soon as we were out of the hospital.

I wasn't fully listening to what Jameson was saying because my entire mind was clouded with anger at Ethan, plus the excruciating pain I was feeling from my finger wasn't helping matters.

That bastard Ethan had the guts to break my finger, and that too very easily.

Who the hell was he?

Yes, he was a billionaire and the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the country, but how the hell was he able to break my finger so easily?

" That man must be hiding something". I muttered to myself.

" Are you kidding? Seriously David? And you're thinking that now?" Jameson yelled, his eyes almost popping out of his skull.

" Yes, I am. " I growled, before shaking my head to get my emotions back in check. I held Jameson's hands frantically and made him look at me." Just take a look at it. Up until six months ago, we had never heard of this Ethan, but then he suddenly shows up and is the owner of the biggest company in the city. There must be something else. He must be hiding something" I said the last phrase more to myself.

The Wright family wasn't even that known in the country. They were big and wealthy, but their power was limited to Europe.

How could Ethan just appear out of nowhere and own so much power? Not just only in the business world, but also physically?

" I knew that man Jameson. He was just a pauper-need kid that Marina and Rachel used to have fun with. " I shook my head frantically. " How could he have grown so much in just a few years?"

My head was hot and I just couldn't believe it.

A few days ago, after Rachel had told me Lana was dating Ethan, it was then I remembered why he had always looked so familiar to me.

He was the nerdy kid who always took the first position in class since he came over to our high school.

The same one that got Rachel so pissed off.

How come they were dating now? But Rachel said they were not dating.

Isn't he supposed to be Lana's boyfriend? Why was he now helping Rachel?!

The more I thought about it, the more confused and frustrated I got with everything. And the pain coming from my finger wasn't helping matters at all.

" I think you're sick David. " Jameson said shaking his head.

Yeah, I was sick.

Sick and tired of not understanding what was going on.

When I heard the news of Lana's death, I wasn't too shocked. It was bound to happen at some point, but then I heard that Rachel was the killer.

It came as a huge surprise to me.

The Rachel I knew could and maybe would hurt Lana if she had the chance, but she wouldn't kill her. Especially in such an unprofessional manner.

Rachel was smart, she would never have allowed herself to be caught. I thought.

But then the news began to affect my company's stocks. I had announced a day prior that Rachel and I were engaged again because she was already such a huge actress.

The movie Snow Fall Love was said to be a huge hit, so I had nothing to lose, or that was what I thought.

So when it started to affect me, I decided to have my lawyer friend take a look at the contract Rachel had me sign and he found a way I could get out of it unharmed, but where was the fun on that?

I wanted to use the darn thing to mock Rachel. She had the guts to give me a stupid contract to sign before I could get to her. But instead of mocking her, the bitch found a way to make everything fall back on me.

She fucking called me dumb!

And just when I was about to beat the shit out of her, Ethan came out of nowhere to save her.

Why though?

Rachel sounded so convinced that Ethan was dating Lana at that time; did he just change to her after Lana died?

That could mean Rachel actually killed Lana so Ethan would go back to her.

All of these questions, and assumptions... They were driving me crazy.

I looked back up at Jameson who was giving me an incredulous look.

" What?"

" I only agreed to go with you because you said that you needed a lawyer. If I had known that you were going to say something like that in front of a man like Ethan I would have never gone ". He said seriously.

Jameson was one of the best lawyers in the state and also my friend, but even with his status, he couldn't get his dream job, which was to work under the E & R Firm.

He respected Ethan so much it made me sick. But maybe I could see this to my advantage.

I blinked as an idea flew into my brain. " Jameson, I need you to do something for me ". Jameson, who still had an incredulous and skeptical look on his face, just raised his brow at me. " And what is that now?"

"I need you to perform a serious investigation on Ethan Wright "

Jameson blinked before he chuckled, and before I knew it, it turned into a full-blown chortle. " You... " He laughed again, his head rolling back in laughter. " You want me to investigate, Ethan! " He yelled the last word, his face suddenly turning serious.

"You must have gone crazy." He said with ease, walking away from me.

"I'll give you the shares you asked for," I announced, and the man halted in his tracks, standing in the same position for a few seconds before turning to stare at me in disbelief.

"You'll give me the shares I asked for?" He asked and I nodded. "Just because you want me to investigate Ethan?" He asked again.

"Yes." I nodded again, walking up to him and placing my uninjured hand on his shoulder. "Ethan is hiding something, I can feel it.".

"But Ethan is not an ordinary man." Jameson disagreed." He isn't someone I can just easily investigate."

Of course, I knew that, but there was something about him.

"Don't you want the shares or not?" I bellowed.

Jameson had always bugged me that he wanted more shares in my family's company, but there was no way I could ever agree to his demands, but now, I was desperate.

The document Rachel had just signed, I had planned to use it against her, but before I could successfully take out my plan, I had to find out the secret Ethan was hiding.

If it was something terrible, I could use it to bring both him and Rachel to their knees.

'But Rachel was already on her knee,' a voice in my head whispered to me, and I mentally rolled my eyes.

Fine then, if she's already on her knees, I'll just make her crawl then.

"But what if Ethan finds out about this and decides to go after you? Don't you forget you already have Rachel wrapped around your finger? If Ethan finds out that you're investigating him and he does the same to you, do you think your plan against Rachel would succeed? Do you think you would even get out of it alive?"

I bit my lower lips as I thought.

Jameson had a point there.

Ethan would surely not let me go if he found out about my plan for Rachel. He may have been able to forgive both Marina and Rachel but I doubt he would do the same for me.

"If Ethan's secret isn't something I can use to bring him down, I would forget about everything and eradicate every thought of Rachel from my mind., I swore solemnly.

Jameson glanced at me with hesitation, before he slowly nodded.
