After Divorce: Loved by the Secret Billionaire CEO

Chapter 149 ...And that's you

Ch. 149 / 155 Apr 28, 2026

Ethan's POV

My hands which held the door knob trembled and i hesitated.

Not once did my hands tremble when I held a trigger at my target, and not once did I hesitate in gunning them down, but just to step into Rachel's room, I had been here for minutes!

Mark called me earlier today that Marina and Joyce were unsuccessful in the task I gave them, which was to inform Rachel about the whereabouts of her real parents.

After finding out the truth from the Nielsons and what really happened, I had invited the both of them also so the Nielson could repeat their new found discovery for them.

I on my own was a bit shocked.

Who would have thought, Rachel Andrews, the adopted daughter of the Andrews was actually Emerald Nielson, the Nielsons missing daughter.

It was a huge and an amazing news, I wanted so bad to be the one to break it to her, but I just couldn't bring myself to.

Last night, I saw her vulnerable side.

She asked me questions that actually bothered her, and for the first time in a few weeks, I actually saw a chance for me to fix things with her, and it wasn't just me being optimistic. I didn't want to ruin that chance by being the one to tell her the news, so I called Marina. Joyce already found out few hours before me.

Marina was shocked but happy, and I actually thought both she and Joyce would be able to pull this off but it turns out I was wrong, because now I was standing at the front of Rachel's door to tell her the same thing.

" Just open the door Ethan, what's the worst that could happen?" I asked myself holding the door handle again.

Taking in a huge breath, I unlocked the door and stealthily walked in to see Rachel who was seated on her bed reading a book.

As soon as she head her door open, she looked up at me and her face instantly turned red.

"Ethan? " She asked looking shocked.

I my lips pulled up in a small smile as I gave her a little wave.

It was already so obvious what she was thinking about from her face that I couldn't help but let out a little chortle. " I'm not here about yesterday".

Her small cute red face turned even more redder.

" What do you mean... I don't, I don't remember". She shook her head as she said nervously.

' That was probably true since she was so drunk last night ' I thought walking forward.

" Nothing happened, we just had some drinks and you fell asleep". I explained even though she didn't ask.

It was more of a lie though. Something did happen, we kissed.

My eyes involuntarily shut as I reminisced the taste of her mouth on mine.

It felt amazing, and the way she responded like someone who has been deprived of something for a long time... I immediately got aroused. But before we could go any further, she fell asleep.

Rachel didn't look like she believed me at all. She sat up and stared skeptically at me. " That's all? How did I get back to my room then?"

" I brought you back. " I said with a breeze like voice.

That was true.

I had been so disappointed last night after she fell asleep, but couldn't bring myself to wake her up from her peaceful sleep, so I took her back.

I had expected she would behave weird around me, so I left early this morning but not before instructing Victoria to make a cup of tea and hangover soup for her.

Rachel blinked before letting out a small 'oh ' to herself. The she blinked again and all the nervousness disappeared from her face replaced with a serious expression. " I can guess why you're here, and my answer is no "

My heart trembled slightly and I sighed.

Now the main topic.

" Rachel you have to at least heard them out, or even find out who they are ". I groaned shoving my hands into my pockets.

" No I'm not going to do any of that ". She argued. " Who are you even to tell me what to do? You're just like them, all of you betrayed me. It's just that you were worse, I knew and trusted you! " She snapped flaring up. Her face turned red again, but not with nervousness or embarrassment this time.

A rush of frustration came over me as I narrowed my eyes at the woman on the bed. " Ok that's it Rachel, I didn't betray you! " I seethed through my gritted teeth.

" Yeah, " She rolled her eyes, sounding sarcastic. " And pigs can fly ".

I nodded with a shrug. " Apparently they they should because I didn't betray you"

" Then why were you in a bar with Lana, drunk just after we kissed? Isn't it because you felt you have betrayed the love of your life? And don't you lie to me, you made it very care that you had a woman you were in love with ". She warned sounding threatening as she wagged her fore finger in front of me.

I was speechless as I stared at her.

So that was what was going on in that head of her's.

I shut my eyes taking in a deep breath before opening them back as a wave of calmness came over me. " You know you should have asked me all these questions, let's say a week ago. Maybe them things would not have become as complicated as it is right now". " You think I'm stupid right?" She snorted turning her face away. " I should just ask so you'll lie to me right away? "

Mark was right. She was so self conceited and absorbed that she would mostly always believe in whatever she thought.

It annoyed me how much she didn't care, but I sad tired of this long misunderstanding.

" That night, I had alot of emotions and thoughts after our kiss which I remembered correctly that you broke and then left the room in tears. " I stared down at her calmly as I explained.

" I wanted to clear my head so I went to a bar, and that was where I met Lana. "

" You think I would believe... "

" She invited me to drink with her. " I said cutting Rachel from speaking. "I remembered what you previous plan was, to get back at Lana by giving her a taste of her own medicine. Make her fall in love with me and then break her heart, so I agreed and drank with her. "

"But you were drunk". She stated and I shook my head.

"No, I was intoxicated, drugged."

Rachel eyes slowly widened as what I said sank into her head.

I nodded to her unspoken question. "Lana drugged my drink and I didn't notice. I took a glass, and then everything just became blurry."

Her firmly disappeared and then she looked confused. "But... But you love her?" Her statement was now unsure.

At least she didn't disbelief everything I said.

I stared at her with disappointment before shaking my head.

"There is and have been one person I love and have been in love with for the longest time... And that's you."

Her mouth opened and she blinked looking shocked.

"But... "

I let out another sigh before turning around.

"I think it's best for you to stop pushing everyone who cares for you away just because of your own paranoia, and face your problems. You'll never be sure if they are at fault or not until you hear them out." I advised before leaving the room.

My heart bleed to leave Rachel in that manner but I needed to.

It was high time someone talked sense into her, and the only person capable of doing that, was herself.
