Chapter 67: Getting Sick

Ch. 67 / 89 Apr 03, 2026

Aaron

At first, I decided to try and move on with my life and not pursue Bella anymore. Even though I didn't believe her when she said she didn't like me anymore. I wasn't the type of guy to chase after a girl, so I kind of let things take their natural course.

Until the moment Damien asked her out, and she said yes. I was burning with jealousy. I imagined Damien touching her and kissing those lips, and it made me so angry I wanted to jump up and choke him. I started to feel the old angry Aaron resurfacing, so I held myself back. I didn't want to create a scene and disappoint everyone. We were not kids anymore.

She confirmed my suspicions when she devoured my naked chest with her lusty eyes. Not interested in me, my ass. She still wanted me, and this time, she will have me.

My train of thought was interrupted as my phone started to ring. I looked at my phone and recognized Jane's number, so I picked it up immediately.

"Jane? What's up?" I asked.

"Hey, you had Professor Erikson last semester, right?" she asked.

"Yes, why?" I said.

"Did you happen to save those notes? It would help me a lot if I can get them from you," she said.

"Eh...sure," I said and sneezed.

"Great! When can I come to get them?" she asked.

"Anyti....aachoo!" I sneezed in response.

"What's going on? Did you catch a cold?" she sounded worried.

"I am fine. I think," I said. Suddenly, feeling like I was not fine. I could feel a headache creeping up. Shit, I must be getting a cold.

"You sound congested. I knew Jake shouldn't have dared you to go outside half-naked. You probably have pneumonia now," Jane said.

"Nah, it's not that serious," I said.

"Well, I will come over later today to collect those notes. Is that okay?" she asked.

"Yup, I am gonna go lie down. I suddenly felt dizzy," I said and hung up the phone.

It has been a while since I got sick. I am going to beat Jake's ass later for this.

I didn't have a thermometer to check my temperature, and I didn't feel like going out to get one, so I just laid in bed. I covered myself with a blanket. Maybe a nap will help, I thought.

I don't know how long I was asleep before a knock on my door woke me up. It must be Jane, I thought.

I dragged myself off the bed. Feeling like utter shit. My body was hot and drenched in sweat. I took my shirt off.

Someone impatiently knocked again. "I'm coming!" I said gruffly and went to open the door. A surprise waited for me outside of the door as I opened it.

"Bella? What are you doing here?" I asked.

She twirled a lock of her hair nervously. "Um...Jane told me you were sick so I wanted to bring you some soup. And also get her notes," she said quietly and looked away.

"Oh, okay. Come in," I stepped aside so she could go in. I noticed the thermos in her hand for the first time.

She quickly went to my desk and set the thermos down.

"Whe...where are the notes?" her voice shook a little. She was not looking at me.

I quietly walked closer and stood behind her. "Why aren't you looking at me?" I asked.

"Y...you aren't wearing a shirt," she whispered.

"So? I was feeling hot, so I took it off," I smirked. "Is my body making you uncomfortable again?"

"A...little," she said.

"Is it turning you on?" I leaned over and whispered into her hair.

She spun around and placed a hand on my chest to push me off, but I quickly grabbed it. "Stop doing that! You said you would stop!" she exclaimed.

"And you said you wouldn't lust over me anymore, but here you are," I grinned.

"I am not lusti...mmph!" I muffled her voice with my tongue as I smashed my mouth on hers and started to kiss her deeply and sensually. It has been a while since I tasted her sweet tongue, and it was making my body hot. Well, hotter than it already was. I wasn't thinking clearly. I felt dizzy again after we broke the kiss, and I was out of breath.

"Sorry, I'm sorry. You are probably mad at me now. Go ahead and slap me or something. I deserve it," I stumbled towards the bed and fell face down on top of it.

"Oh my God, Aaron! You need to go to the hospital!" Bella cried. She ran up to me and helped me lie down properly.

"No hospital!" I protested groggily.

"Okay, just lie still. You are burning up," her voice was soft and gentle. She placed her palm on my forehead. It felt nice and cool.

"Aren't you mad at me?" I asked.

"Yes, I am, but I won't take it out on you now because you are sick. Besides, I am used to your imbecile behavior," she smiled.

"Jake is the imbecile. I'm the better brother," I mumbled.

"I'm not too sure about that," she giggled. She got up.

"No, don't leave me!" I whined. Since when did I become such a baby?

"I'm not leaving. I'm going to get some washcloths to wipe your body, okay? It'll bring the fever down," she said, so I let go of her hand.

I closed my eyes and waited for her. My head was throbbing, but I was still conscious of her. She came back in a minute and placed something cold on top of my head. I opened my eyes to look at her. She had tied her hair up in a messy bun, exposing her pretty face and neck.

"You are so pretty," I murmured under my breath before passing out again.
