The Cursed Bloodline

Chapter Fifteen - I am death

Ch. 15 / 40 Aug 14, 2024

Odin’s POV:

I snarled from pain just as the last remaining rogue wolves finally collapsed to the ground with horrific looks displayed on their faces as they glared at me with their eyes slowly going white as if their souls had been ripped from their dead carcass. No life remained within their l limp bodies as I stared at the bloody graveyard that now rested before me, the frost was already working to coat their enlarged bodies and freeze their black fur as the strands now stood on end.

I barely noticed as each one of them dropped dead to the ground as I was too focused on fighting for my life, It seemed unreal the moment the jagged shards of the earth came charging towards us and only pierced their skin, ripping through their once tough bodies, bodies that had been bred to withstand even an alphas bite.

How is this possible? I thought to myself as I sat there in shock as my ears rang.

My breath hiked within my chest as my lungs finally demanded the breath that they had been deprived of, I released a shaky breath just as the shock and confusion finally set in making me collapse onto the ground defeated. The world came crumbling down from around me as I finally clued into the raging wind that had increased in pressure during the fight, it was now calming down as if we were in the eye of a storm. I looked up just as a figure caught my eye, the image was of a beautiful woman with ice coloured eyes with long strands of snow-white hair framed her face and loosely floated around her small frame.

There were no emotions in her soulless eyes as her bare feet were gently placed on the ground as she had been floating within the air. The face of my destined mate glanced back at me as her snow-white hair encircled her as if it cascaded from a snowstorm, her true beauty revealed itself the moment our eyes locked together, I couldn't help but feel in awe of her and yet slightly terrified as I glanced as the other-worldly woman who had just murdered several wolves without laying a finger on them.

My eyes didn’t leave her just as I felt my wolf form begin to tremble as my body began to shrink and rearrange itself, I began to shed my thick auburn fur with the loose strands floating away within the slowly fading whirlwind that surrounded us until both the wind and my fur disappeared into nothingness. I collapsed to my knees and sat naked and exposed amongst piles of bloodied bodies that were torn through.

“What are you,” I barely managed to mutter under my breath not expecting a response.

“Death,” My mate replied simply as she stared down at me as she now stood just before me.

Death? I thought to myself unbelieving.

There was a hint of an illuminous light that radiated from her olive skin that seemed to recede the closer she approached me, her winter white hair finally settled from around her as it was gently placed along her back fully revealing her face. Caoimhe lifted her hand to her face and gently pushed her hair behind her elvish-like ear as she tilted her head slightly as she watched me curiously. No creature on this earth could be compared to her beauty as she resembled an enchanting and mythical creature, not of this world, I wanted nothing more at that moment but to hold her in my arms and protect her from the cruel world that I had pulled her into.

“Odin!” Ure shouted as his voice tore me from my deep thoughts.

The moment he spoke the illusion surrounding Caoimhe seemed to snap as her once ice coloured eyes shifted back to their opal-like colour with her vibrant winter white hair flaring back to the ivory colour as she turned around to face Ure’s approaching form. The once cold and emotionless aura that had once surrounded her dissipated as it was absorbed back into her, my attention shifted to Ure as I expected him to see the change within her form and yet the man seemed ignorant of what had just happened. If he hadn’t witnessed what just happened, then I was more then happy to keep it to myself as I couldn’t be sure how my beta would react if he saw how my mate changed before us.

“I think I have a concussion,” Ure said uncertainly as he shook his head in confusion.

Maybe I’m the one with a concussion, I thought to myself, and yet I knew that couldn't be right as I knew what I saw was real.

“You were supposed to take her and run,” I stated as I climbed to my feet completely naked as I stood before my beta.

“I was trying to…” Ure mumbled as he scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion as he attempted to remember what happened.

“Don’t think too hard or else you’ll kill your remaining brain cells,” I said with a snicker.

It’s a good thing that Essen isn’t here, I thought to myself as I thought about the stubborn woman.

Essen, I thought just as something hit me.

How did Elijah’s wolves find us so quickly?

“Are you okay?” Ure asked uncertainly as he noticed the concerned look on my face.

“We need to get out of here, now,” I said after a moment as my attention shifted to Caoimhe.

She stared at me blankly making it hard to read what was going through her head at that moment and yet there was something about her glare that set me off, it was almost as if she were mad about something. I sighed to myself as I took the woman in my arms and scooped her off the ground in one swoop noticing that she seemed lighter.

“You’re going to carry her while completely naked?” Ure asked bewildered.

“What of it?” I asked aggressively as I glared at him.

Ure didn't say anything as we started to make our way south to meet up with the girls who had fled earlier to ensure their safety.

I’ll be doing things to this woman soon enough where ill have no choice but to be naked, I thought to myself with a smirk as the thought send my blood pumping.
