The Cursed Bloodline

Chapter Thirty-One - Taste of Crimson

Ch. 31 / 40 Aug 14, 2024

Caoimhe’s POV:

Time seemed to stand still as Odin remained motionless as if he were stuck in a trance and yet I couldn’t help but notice that was the case, he was a rare soul who was forced to endure the many reincarnations throughout his lifetime. I watched as he seemed to be at war within himself and yet I couldn’t help but be in awe of his strength as no normal creature could live through the pain and trauma that he was forced to endure at that moment as his past lives were replayed before him. Despite Odin reconnecting with his past lives, I couldn’t help but rationalize that this wasn’t the time nor place for this event to be triggered as my birth father steadily approached us with one thing on his mind, our deaths.

“This isn’t the time for this, Odin” I muttered to myself hoping that my mate would hear my words.

I looked over at Conri as he began to steady himself despite just being attacked by the other half of his soul not a moment ago. He was a resurrected being who yearned to be with its human host and yet it had been torn from Odin the moment he died, reconnecting Conri and Odin wouldn’t be an easy feat and yet it was something that needed to be done eventually. There was nothing I wanted more then to have my complete soulmate and yet his life was in danger and that was something that I couldn’t allow to happen, I would do anything to protect him as his death would be my downfall.

The Dead Sea… I thought with a shudder.

I couldn’t help but be brought back to the frigid and void less ocean that had held me captive my entire life and yet the reality of my father standing before me brought me back to the frozen abyss that made up my never ending prison. The moment Odin’s heart stopped beating was the moment the sea would call for me and beckon me back as it was the curse that was placed upon my soul by my birth father.

“Father,” I said sullenly as I approached the enlarged wolf.

“Abomination,” Svarog said as he barred his teeth at me.

“so, that’s how you greet your beloved daughter?” I snickered darkly.

“Blood means nothing when an abomination exists within these lands,” Svarog said as he drooled saliva from his jaws.

A shadow hung over my eyes as I glared at the man who was of my blood and yet his face ran my blood cold as the only thing I wanted at that moment was for his blood on my hands as I bore my fist through his chest. I continued to step forward until Svarog was a mere inch away from me, the scent that radiated from him reminded me of the forest after a rainy night and yet I couldn’t help but sneer at the smell. Everything about set off my senses as my body was demanding that I lunge forward and tear his limbs from his body and yet that wasn’t my desire just yet.

“Why have you come?” I asked as I gritted my teeth.

“Because the cursed goddess of the underworld has risen from the Dead Sea,” Svarog said.

He swayed his tail slightly to indicate to his underlings to approach him and take his side as a brutal war was about to break out. I glanced from around us as his wolves and my Shadow Souls converged on each other it was a beautiful sight to behold as my precious children charged through the white mass of enemy wolves. The offenders blood soon coated the damp ground as canines snapped at flawless fur and jagged claws tore through limbs rendering bodies motionless immobile as golden eyes went dim from death. Death consumed the air causing a tingly sensation to course through my body, an ominous smile spread to my lips as the newly deceased souls filled the air and coursed through me like oxygen to a flame.

“Master, why are you stalling?” A cocky wolf said annoyed as he arched his back towards me.

“Blood! We want blood!” The other wolf from Svarog’s opposite side announced as he bared his teeth aggressively.

“Take all the blood that you desire,” Svarog said as he granted them permission to tear apart his daughter.

“No,” I said with ease as the two figures ran at me.

I could feel the vibrations from under me as the two smaller wolves approached me with their lengthened claws tearing at the torn apart soil.

Stay back, I ordered Conri as I could feel his muscles tense up.

The last thing I wanted was to watch my precious wolves’ blood be spilled more, I could feel every injury that decorated both his and Odin’s body and it was something that tore at my soul. I wanted to do anything to protect the two of them and yet it was hard to accomplish when they were both so close to me.

Get him away from here, I said as I tore my eyes from Conri.

Conri growled in protest and yet it was the least of my concerns.

“Go!” I shouted at him.

“Don’t regret this decision,” Conri said reluctantly before he turned his back on me.

It won’t be a mistake, I thought to myself bravely.

I closed my eyes just as the two wolves approached me, I lifted my arms slightly and shifted my palms to the sky as I released what I had been keeping locked away from within me. I opened my eyes just as their canines were inches from my skin, each wolf converged on either side of me as they lunged at me with the intent to tear my limbs from my body. I knew they desired to taste my flesh and yet I yearned to spill their rogue blood across my olive skin, it had been days since I’d taken a life and I was already craving the sweet release that accompanied their deaths.

“Cadere!” I shouted as my eyes flashed a silver white.

I shifted my palms downwards as the enchanted words erupted from my lips, within mere seconds the two intruders fell to the ground with their limbs painfully sprawled in awkward angles. I shifted my fingers and watched as their bones snapped apart and caused painful howls to escape their massive bodies, their white fur was soon coated with their crimson blood as their bones broke through their tough flesh.

Delicious, I thought as I licked my blood splattered lips.
