Caoimhe, A familiar voice said.
The voice seemed to surround me and yet it came from no particular direction, it took me a moment to recognize the voice was that of my mate, a man who was currently digging his massive paws into the course dirt from under him. I could feel his muscles flexing from within his body as his heated breath raged from his chest, his wolf form was powerful and easily towered over those who followed him. Odin’s soul was calling for me as I had spent too much time in this realm, a place where only I could enter, it was a space outside of time itself, as I was its one true ruler.
I glanced at Lelia for a final time before the very thing that allowed me to appear before her in my form, began to fade, my feet grew numb as they began to fade away, it was something I wasn’t able to control yet as my flesh was calling my soul back. I moved my lips only the words refused to come out now, I was losing my connection to Lelia, I finally connected to her physically once again as my eyes flashed a shimmering silver. I could feel her very thoughts and emotions as her life seemed to flash from before my eyes and yet it was something I had to push aside, I needed my mind to become one with hers no matter how much it took out of me.
Lelia’s eyes flashed silver similar to mine, I smiled slightly to myself as the women’s body began to relax as her body weight slumped against the trunk of the tree, she seemed like an empty shell at that moment as I commanded the next thing from her. Lelia would never remember my words nor my presence as I whispered my next words deep into her soul.
Hide the child where not even death can find him, I recited just as I faded away.
No one can resist the words of death, I thought to myself just as the world once again grew bleak and dark.
Lelia’s eyes returned to their normal colour once I had faded from view, I knew that she wouldn’t be capable of resisting my orders as I had taken over the very essence that made up her soul. My surroundings began to fade with the colours swirling together until they were one combined mess, I couldn’t seem to push past it as I suddenly felt my legs grow increasingly tired as if I had been running a marathon. My thoughts became muddled together as new voices entered my consciousness, they seemed familiar as I felt the breath within my chest grow ragged, it was then that I realized that my body wasn’t my own.
“Where is Caoimhe?” A familiar voice asked, I recognized the voice as that of Immoenne.
“She’s safe,” Odin said aggressively as if he wanted to avoid the subject all together.
The last thing he wanted was for his packmates to believe that he was incapable of protecting his own mate, his mate who had fallen unconscious the moment he laid his claim on her neck. He couldn’t resist the primal urge that had coursed through his veins the moment he felt his mates warm embrace as the walls of her entrance grasped his shaft and refused to let go. A silent growl escaped his chest as he thought back to the recent memory and yet he knew that he couldn’t allow the thought of his mate to distract him, not now when their life was at risk.
“To the left!” Ure shouted through the mind link just as he collided with another wolf.
It was at that moment when I was suddenly awoken with my body breaking out in a cold sweat as the chilled air embraced me like a weighted blanket, id felt the coldness my entire life and yet it was different this time, it was unnatural. I quickly glanced around to see that the room was now dark and that Odin, nor any one else was around, my dreams felt all too real to simply dismiss them, and yet I knew deep down that they were real. My hand shifted to my neck when a sudden burning sensation erupted from that spot, there was something about the pain that caused me to panic.
I shifted my body weight so that my legs were now hanging off the couch and gently placed upon the chilled hard wood floor, I could feel a violent rumbling from below me as if the earth was shaken to its core, I could feel the life essence of millions of souls as they rested at my feet, as if they were awaiting to be summoned to this barren land, awaiting my command. My long dark hair fell loosely over my shoulders as I glanced down at the ground curiously, a part of me wanted to reach out and summon those who craved life the most and yet a part of me was afraid of what would happen if I did.
Odin! I thought as panic suddenly arose from within me.
My arm suddenly burned as the olive skin began to grow red and bruised, I knew instinctively that Odin’s arm had been sliced open by another wolfs enlarged claws, I could feel his enraged breath within my own lungs and his boiling blood flow through my veins as I shared a unique tie with the man who I had waited centuries to be my mate. I quickly rose from the couch only for gravity to hit me hard the moment I was standing on my feet, I swayed slightly as bile threatened to erupt from the pits of my stomach. I quickly covered my mouth with my now trembling hand and attempted to take a step forward.
I need to get to him, I thought to myself as I glanced towards the door.
I needed to get to Odin before it was too late.
