The Cursed Bloodline

Chapter Twenty-Nine - Destiny is dark

Ch. 29 / 40 Aug 14, 2024

Caoimhe’s POV:

I could feel the power within me begin to grow and expand as the true potential of my soul yearned to consume the light that was held within the living. It craved destruction and misery as the thick blackness extended into the void of nothingness, it was the true meaning of death and it was horrifying. I held my chin up as the strings of life were woven through my fingertips and outstretched to vast areas that the naked eye couldn’t comprehend. I controlled the very things that the living feared, death, disease, and famine and yet none of those things held my interest as I sought to protect those who I had come to love.

Odin caught my attention as the form of his massive black wolf made his way over to us, his strikingly beautiful golden eyes made time slow as I felt the mate bond between us quiver with need and attention. I could feel how badly he wanted to be with me at that moment and yet I needed to focus on the matter at hand. Conri shifted his body weight beside me just as Odin leapt through the air and tackled the Shadow Soul Alpha to the crumbled ground and yet all I could do was stand there in shock as fragments of their possessive thoughts consumed me.

“No!” I said as panic began to set in.

This cant be good.

Master?

Alpha?

Their voices were thick like molasses, they steadily began to muddle together, they could feel that their alpha getting attacked and they were determined to subdue the threat. Their attention shifted from that of Mattias and his army to the intruder who had just attacked their risen Alpha, their intentions had changed within an instant the moment Odin snapped at their Alphas neck. I glanced towards the risen souls that surrounded us and closed my eyes tightly for a moment as I contemplated what to do next, I needed to divert their attention to our true enemy.

Uh oh, I thought to myself as I looked towards the army of shadow souls.

“Don’t worry about them, Conri will be fine,” I said as I held my hand out to halt the souls.

Odin looked up at me with confusion dancing in his eyes and yet I didn’t have the time to address that matter at that moment, there were only so many things that I could control at once. The tension between the Shadow Souls seemed to relax as they lowered their rigid postures, they were all too aware of my attachment to Conri and knew I would never allow any harm to befall him even as Odin clawed at his chest.

Damn it, I thought as I smelled Conri’s freshly spilled blood.

“Attack the enemy!” I ordered the creatures as pointed towards Mattias as they steadily approached us.

Should I tell him? I thought to myself as I held Odin’s gaze.

Caoimhe, Conri pleaded as his soul grew weakened.

They should never have been separated, I thought as my body became illuminated with a gentle light.

“Kill them,” I ordered as the two armies finally collided.

Odin’s eyes shifted to an icy blue similar to that of my natural eye colour the moment Conri grew weaker and yet I knew it was something that was inevitable, the two souls were bound to collide at some point. I sighed as I shifted my attention from the newly bloodied battlefield to my mate as he continued to pin down the Alpha Shadow Soul, a soul that was strikingly like Odin’s.

They’re fragmented, I thought to myself as the two wolves began to fight for dominance.

Conri had been holding back up till that point and yet the wolf finally took it upon himself to nip back at Odin setting him a back slightly, it was the leverage that Conri needed to regain his balance as he climbed back onto his hind legs and leapt towards Odin with his Canines barred. It was a scene that I had hoped id never have to witness as the two men toppled over each other with their teeth and claws coated in the others blood and yet it was a fight that I couldn’t prevent this time.

Ure and Immoenne soon leapt into action the moment Mattias and his Beta grew too close, his beta was a younger female with hazel eyes and yet I knew she wasn’t ready for an all-out war. Immoenne lunged at the young wolf with her extended claws marking the wolves face as her faint white fur ripped apart revealing the torn muscles underneath, I couldn’t help but smile approvingly as Immoenne successfully marked the young beta and yet there was something else in the distance that ran my blood cold.

The sea of wolves seemed to part as an ancient looking wolf slowly approached, his familiar opal-like eyes were a mix of regret and rage as they looked me over. His fur was a mixture of black and gray from the years he was forced to endure the long life that he had been given and yet I recognized him within an instant. He was the man who committed the gravest crime of all and was given a fitting punishment for what he had done, for he had ended the life of the purest soul.

Svarog, I thought to myself as I tasted venom in my mouth.

He was the one life on this earth whose soul I craved to squeeze between my fingers as I wiped his very existence from the realm of the living, and yet I wanted it to be a moment that he would never forget even while he was in the land of the dead. No, I would make this man suffer for taking the precious life of my mother, a woman who had given me life, and yet Svarog was the one who gave my life a meaning, that meaning was death. It had been the actions of my parents that forged who I was at that moment, a creature from the depths of hell come to take vengeance on those who wronged me and set this course on fire within me.
