When we reached the packhouse, Jace was waiting for us in the lobby with two fresh suits and shoes for the event. Danny sat on the sectional with her legs crossed and her eyes on her phone. She ignored us as we walked in.
“Welcome back, Alpha,” Danny said.
She blew a bubble and it popped before she looked up. Duke had already began changing but I ignored her glare as I walked over and grabbed my slacks. I already knew why she was upset but I’d rather eat my paw then entertain her. Danny hated that I was taking a chosen mate but she hated who I had chosen even more.
“I’ll get the car ready,” Duke grunted as soon as he was dressed. I ignored her as I finished dressing.
“You might need your phone,” Danny said from behind me.
Without another word, I turned and walked to where she sat. I leaned over and grabbed my phone and slid it into my pocket before turning away from her. I went to the front door and the girl I’d had in my bed last night opened the door for me. I couldn’t remember her name. I treated her like I would everyone else. I nodded my head in thanks as I walked out the door.
Beta Duke leaned up against my favorite car. My all black 2022 Acura NSX waited for me. We usually had a driver when we had events or meetings that didn’t oppose any danger, but today the NSX was parked outside waiting for me. We hadn’t spoken to each other on the run back. Duke must be feeling bad for me now that he knew I was at the cave. The NSX always cheered me up. I hopped in and revved her up. She purred for me.
Goddess, she’s sexy.
As soon as Duke closed his door, I stomped on the gas and we were off. Thirty minutes later, the city lights came into view. As much as I loved to drive, I hated going into the city. The air quality was a far cry from the forest. The city did have a few redeeming qualities. Food and beautiful women.
As soon as I announced my chosen mate, my pack and the surrounding alpha’s would get off of my back. I needed to put my foot down with Kai. I liked my women but he hated it. He hated whenever I bedded someone else. As Alpha, you think I would be able to do whatever I wanted, but that wasn’t the case. The two of us would do what needed to be done.
The woman I had in mind would do a good job as Luna of my pack. She was high maintenance and at times she was selfish, but we had a mutual understanding and agreement on our relationship. She would be a great Queen and the people would agree.
“She’s a thirsty whore,” Kai growled.
I ignored him and asked Beta to fill me in on the details for the meting. He did so while I tried to enjoy being behind the wheel of my favorite car. When we got to the restaurant, I handed the valet my keys and told him to be careful with her. His eyes widened in awe before he ran slowly toward the NSX. The staff opened the door and I gave the hostess an award-winning smile as we walked in. She blushed and grabbed our menus.
“Your party is already here. Please follow me, Andrius,” she said seductively.
Beta grunted and I shrugged my shoulders before I watched her ass. It swayed left and right as we followed her to our table. She bent over the table and placed our menus down. She took her time getting back up and I swallowed up her long fit legs. Alpha Brett and his Beta Dom were seated already.
“Apologies for keeping you waiting,” Beta Duke said with a bow.
“No worries, we’re far out. Thank you for making time for us,” Alpha Brett said.
Duke. What is his Beta’s name?
Dominic.
“Good evening, Alpha Brett and Beta Dominic,” I said as I took a seat.
“It’s great having you,” Alpha Brett said.
The meeting stars and we dive head first into business. Two hours of discussion and we aren’t any closer to figuring out where the rogues are getting in. My lands are well protected but that doesn’t mean the rogues don’t try. It’s a bit harder for Alpha Brett’s pack due to it being in the city. He’s had a turf war going on with the vampires.
The sound of the waves crashing drew my attention to the windows. I was lost in the waves as they receded, rose, and came down with a vengeance until the waitress walked in front of my line of sight followed by two people. My breath caught in my throat when I saw her. The man with her sat first and she sat beside him.
She was beautiful, her blonde hair cascaded past her hips and stopped right above her ass. Goddess, she had all the right curves. When she looked up to thank the waitress, I caught a glimpse of her eyes. They were the color of the beautiful trunks that led up to tall trees and I swear I saw specks of green flash before she darted to her partner who accompanied her.
I’m not one to covet someone’s woman but there’s a first time for everything. I assumed he was her boyfriend and my suspicions were confirmed when he reached out, brought her hand to his lips, and kissed her hand. Without thinking, I growled at the contact. I wanted to rip her hand out of his grasp and away from him.
“Are you okay?” Alpha Brett asked.
I blinked and look at him. Beta Duke cleared his throat and I was brought back to the table where I sat in the middle of a meeting. The question was directed to me. I’ve never felt more like a dominant alphahole then I did today.
“I apologize, I don’t know what came over me,” I said. I bowed my head.
