Melody
"If we're not related, then that's a good opportunity to be together," Estrella muttered and moved towards Dorian as if what she just said made the most sense.
Dorian's eyes widened and he stepped away, making Estrella's hand fall before she could touch him.
"No way!" He replied, almost screaming. "You were my little sister and that's what you'll always be."
I stood on the sidelines just like Derek and I watched the scene in front of me. Estrella wasn't bothered about the entire story that was narrated to her. All she cared about was Dorian.
She wants him.
She thinks they can be together just because they aren't related. But what about love?
If he doesn't love her, how does she expect things to work out for them? She doesn't seem to care about love she just wants him for herself.
"I don't want to be your sister!" She yelled, seemingly frustrated. "I want to be more than that!" She went towards Dorian with determination.
"I want to be the only one you care about just like you used to." She wiped her invisible tears. "I want to be the only one in your heart."
Estrella sounded selfish and I know that I should hate her for it, but I find myself relating to her plight.
I've always wanted someone to love me unconditionally. I looked for that in Derek but he left me shattered.
I was never loved by my father, and my mate rejected me without giving a damn about how that affected me but Estrella lived a good life unlike me.
She was loved by both parents; even though they didn't give birth to her, they loved her unconditionally. She also received additional love from Dorian; A gift I was never lucky to have.
I understand how Estrella must feel right now because I also envy her to a certain extent. However, her way of going about it is wrong.
Especially when she thinks that I have plotted against her. Why would I even do that?
"Not possible!" Dorian replied, almost yelling. His loud voice snapped me back to the present. "Melody is my mate. She is the one I want."
Estrella's face contorted. I could guess what she felt from the way she looked at me. She hates me now.
Even though we haven't met for too long. She wasn't cold towards me but the look on her face right now tells the tale of her hatred towards me.
"Why?" She screamed, tears running down her cheeks. "Why do you want her?" She glared at me and she spoke. "What does she have that I lack?"
Dorian didn't reply to her. He just shook his head seemingly frustrated. He was probably lost on how to make her understand.
"I love you more than she ever could." Estrella went towards Dorian again. "To me, you are first in every way but for her, you come after," She commented, stunning me.
Dorian had no words to refute her. He just stared at her in shock.
"You were my first love but Derek was hers." She began, her eyes stopping on Derek. "I loved you then and still love you now but she loves Derek before and still holds a soft spot for him even now."
Dorian raised his head and his gaze fell on me as if asking if Estrella's words were true.
I stared at Estrella with disbelief. I couldn't believe that she was the same quiet girl I met a few hours ago. She was so sweet earlier, how did she go from being sweet to being calculative?
Why is she bringing me up in their discussion? I wasn't part of their lives those years ago. Why does she see me as the enemy?
Dorian didn't love her back when his mate just died, why does she think that I'm the reason why he doesn't want her now?
"Listen, Estrella if Melody isn't in our lives, I still won't feel romantic towards you," Dorian reasoned.
I found love in Dorian but a part of me hurts when Derek is close. I know that it's because we're still bonded.
Estrella looked at me as if she would strangle me. His disdainful glare broke my heart so much that it was the last thing I wanted from my sister.
I've always wished that I had a sister just like Sofia. I wanted someone whose pain I can share and who I can tell my feelings to. Now that the goddess has chosen to give me a sister I don't want her to make enemies with me.
"You never yelled at me or scolded me before. You're doing it now and it's all because of her." She pointed at me.
Oh, goddess.
I wish I could show her how wrong she is.
Even though we've just met, I wouldn't do anything evil to her.
"Estrella," Dorian's voice mellowed.
His eyes dimmed as he reasoned with her.
"Try to understand." He sounded tired. "I'm not yelling at you right now. I'm only trying to make you understand that what you want isn't possible."
Estrella was stubborn. She didn't look like she would back down without getting what she wanted.
But am I ready to give Dorian up?
The answer is No.
I am not ready to give Dorian up and I won't do that no matter what. He is the compensation for all the pain life put me through and I'm not letting go.
Estrella is my sister and I'm willing to do anything to prove to her that I am not as bad as she thinks but if that thing includes giving Dorian up then it's impossible to give in to her wish.
"Why not?" Estrella looked at Dorian whose patience seemed to be thinning out.
Dorian ignored her question and continued with his explanation.
"Melody is your sister and you should....."
Before Dorian could finish what he was saying, Estrella came towards me and grabbed my hand.
"You're my sister aren't you?"
Her question caught me off guard but I replied nonetheless. "Yes."
"And you love me, right?"
This doesn't seem right but I replied again. "Yes."
Then she added the final straw, "Give Dorian to me and I'll accept you as my sister."
