Morena
I finally came around to unpacking about two hours later. I took a bath that helped me relax my tensing muscles. There was no sign of Rena and I was beginning to get worried when she knocked in the door and asked for permission to come in.
She peeked in and nervously smiled at me.
“Where have you been, Rena? I was starting to get worried. You weren’t wondering around alone in a strange place, were you?”
“No, I was not. That is more of your thing sister.” She answered with a smile as she sat beside me in the bed.
“Then where were you?”
“Asher showed me around for a bit after you and your mate left. It's a really nice pack. Way nicer than our home. You should look around as well.”
“I wish. But I am not allowed to leave this room.”
“What do you mean you are not allowed?” she asked.
“Leander thinks I am a threat to his pack so I am stuck in here. I can’t leave without his permission.”
“That is impossible! He can’t keep you here like that'' she said agitated.
“Well, it's either this or a visit to the cells. I guess my choices are limited.”
“What the hell, Morena. Is he some kind of a barbarian?”
“It looks like it. I do not want to cause trouble for the time being. I need to calm down and gather my thoughts. I think I am really going to actually behave for a few days until I put my mind around what happened this past day.”
She went quite for a bit before asking “what did he say about the red head?”
“I didn’t ask but from what I understood from him, she is not his girlfriend. I think he just sleeps around with her.”
“Is he not going to break things up with her now that he, has you?”
“He showed no intention of doing so. You heard what she said in the dining room earlier. He spent the night with her.”
“I don't get it. I really don't. You seem to get in trouble even when you don't intend to, Morena.”
“Tell me about it.” I whispered back feeling uncomfortable.
“How about we watch a movie on my pc?” she asked changing the subject.
“I would love to.” I answered with a small smile.
“I will go bring my pc from my room right away.” She said skipping out of the room. Even though we have mature conversations quite often, my sister was still a baby and I knew that I had to protect her no matter the cost. Even if I had to stomp on my heart in the process. I will not Leander get the best of me. I will not give him power. I will not make a mistake.
“So, what are we watching?” I was brought back by Rena coming back in and shutting the door behind her.
“What are you in the mood for?” I asked as I gestured for her to hop on the bed next to me.
“I am not sure. Maybe Disney?”
“We have watched all of the Disney movies at least two times each.” I said with a giggle. She was crazy about everything Disney.
“But Encanto is new!” she answered immediately.
“We watched that two nights ago. We don't talk about Bruno is all I can sung since then”
“Well, I tried” she said sheepishly. “How about we binge watch a series instead? We have nothing to do anyway.”
“Sure. Whatever you want. Anything in mind?”
“There is this series called squid game everyone was talking about a while back. I never got to watch it.”
“Yeah. I heard about that. I guess we'll be watching squid game then.”
I leaned back and got into a more comfortable position as Rena excitedly turned on her pc and put the first episode on.
It was well after five or so episodes that I started to doze off. Rena was still awake but I couldn’t so I let sleep engulf me as I wrapped myself in the soft blankets while sighing contentedly earning a soft giggle from my sister.
