Key stood outside the room, looking at them. After seeing that Ella was fine, he returned to the hotel and informed Rika. Rika breathed a sigh of relief knowing Ella was fine.
Their picnic is over. They return to city X.
David moved Ella to the hospital in X city. Every day, he went to the hospital to take care of her.
"How do you feel?" David collected the dishes on the table and asked.
"In a few days, I will be able to walk again." Ella straightened her legs, back against the pillow, comfortably eating apples.
"Now, tell me what happened that day. Why did you fall off the mountain?" David looked her straight in the eye.
"Because..." Ella paused for a few seconds, thinking. 'I can't say that Maria lured me to take a shortcut and then pushed me down the mountain. Anyway, I'm at fault for this, since I don't have mountain climbing skills. If I had climbing experience, I wouldn't let Maria play pranks.'
Think for a moment, she said. "I was walking slowly, so I got lost."
"Just like that?" David is skeptical.
Ella nodded, to avoid his gaze, she pretended to take an apple to eat.
David's phone suddenly rang. He answered the call. She didn't hear what the person on the other end of the line said. She heard him speak. "Okay, I'll be right there."
David hung up the call.
Ella said hastily. "If the company is busy at work, then you go home."
"Can you stay alone?" David is worried about her.
"OK. I'm fine." Ella nodded firmly.
"I will visit you later," David said and took a long step towards the door.
Ella breathed a sigh of relief, placing the half-eaten apple on the table. There was the sound of a door opening and then footsteps. She thought David was back, but when the man walked in, she realized he wasn't. It was Suzy, her best friend.
Ella took off the blanket, sat up, got out of bed, and hugged Suzy. "I miss you. How are you?"
"I'm still fine. Does your leg still hurt?" Suzy looked down at Ella's feet and asked.
Because she was so happy, Ella forgot that she was injured, now hearing Suzy's reminder, she hugged her knees and groaned.
Suzy shook her head, extending her hand. "Where is my present?"
Ella was angry but still tried to control it. "You see I'm injured, you didn't ask but wanted a gift?"
Suzy let out a short laugh. "I was just joking. After hearing the news that you were injured and lost in the forest, I was shocked, you went for a picnic, not to the forest to explore. What happened?"
With Suzy, Ella's next step is not hidden. After hearing Ella's story, Suzy reprimanded her. "You're being pranked by Maria, if she wants to challenge you fairly, there's no need to take shortcuts. Second, she knows it's your first time climbing the mountain, no matter how hard you try, she'll come after you. You are so stupid."
"Right. I didn't think about this." Ella nodded.
"But why did she push you down the mountain?"
"I do not know. I am not sure if Maria pushed me or not. Or is it because I slipped? Or did she not do it on purpose?" Ella raised her eyebrows.
"I think she did it on purpose, she wanted to get rid of you. This woman is very cruel, be careful." Suzy reminds her. Suzy's husband called, so Suzy had to go home. She said goodbye to Ella and headed for the door.
David returned to the hospital after he finished his work at the company. He opened the door of the hospital room and found Ella asleep. He walked over to the bed, covered her with a blanket, and kissed her forehead. He took her in his arms, watched her sleep in his arms,
When he heard that she was lost in the forest, he had only one feeling, his heart seemed to be unable to breathe. He was very worried and looked for her everywhere. He is afraid of not finding her. Luckily, he finally found her.
Maria returned home in an angry mood. Her mother saw Maria walking toward her, she raised her hand to wave to her daughter.
"You have returned home. Would you like to eat something? I'll tell the butler Jin to cook some dishes for you." Her mother said.
"No. I do not want to eat." Maria said in an angry voice.
"What happened? Why do you look so angry?"
"David doesn't care about me, he only cares about Ella."
Her mother sighed. "How many years have you loved David but he has no feelings for you? Why don't you give up?"
Maria turned her face to face her mother, with a stubborn expression. "I will not give up."
Her mother sighed helplessly. "David doesn't love you, why are you stubbornly refusing to give up? Maria, listen to me, why should you make yourself suffer?"
"You are my mother, why don't you support me, why do you want me to give up? I've decided for the rest of my life but David, I'm not going to love anyone."
Her mother took her hand. "David never gave you a chance, how can he accept your feelings? People like David, you can't love. If someone is loved by him, it is happiness, otherwise, it will be painful. Maria, I just want the best for you."
"Don't forget David is the young billionaire of X City, become Anthony's daughter-in-law, and I will have everything," Maria smirked.
"But how did you become Anthony's daughter-in-law?"
"I have Mrs. Emma's support, so don't worry."
"But, Maria..."
Her mother didn't finish her sentence, she interrupted. "OK. I am tired. I have to go to my room to rest." Maria got up from her seat and walked up the stairs.
Her mother looked after her, sighing.
A few days later, Ella was discharged from the hospital. Although David wanted her to stay home to rest, she was adamant about going to work. He has no choice but to drive her to the company.
At break time, Ella was making coffee at the coffee shop, when Maria appeared beside her.
"It's lucky you're still alive." Maria scoffed.
Thinking of going on a picnic, Ella rolled her eyes. "You were trying to trick me that day, right?"
"If you're smart, you won't fall into my trap," Maria smirked.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Ella frowned.
"Since I hate you, I want you to disappear forever. I knew David before you, so how do you take him away from me?"
Ella was shocked to hear Maria's words.
Pausing for a few seconds, Maria continued. "I will not pass up. One day, I will take him back from your hands." She leaves after warning Ella.
Maria saw her as an enemy. She doesn't want this to happen, but she doesn't want to break up with David either. Because she loves him.
