Chapter 75: Warm Christmas

Ch. 75 / 164 Sep 17, 2024

Feeling that she was returning his kiss, the arms around her waist tightened even more. The kiss moved slowly over her forehead, lips, and ears. Ella's breath panted at this action, David. The arms around David's waist kept tightening.

The arms that had been around his waist at first, had already wrapped around David's neck. Her whole body knelt between his legs, in that position, she was half a head taller than him.

Ella looked down, he looked up, and their eyes met. The blush on her cheeks made her face take on a seductive look.

Ella lowered her head slightly, and she kissed David's lips again. She carefully ran her tongue over his lips.

David didn't move, let her do what she wanted. But he waited so long that Ella's lips just stayed on his, not taking a single step forward.

The kiss continues.

By the time David let go of Ella, they were both gasping for breath. His forehead was covered in sweat. She felt the heat on him, she knew what this man was going through, she clung to his lap, not daring to move.

The sound came from the rooftop door. David and Ella were startled and parted. Together, they stood up from their seats and adjusted their clothes.

"General manager, you two slept here last night?" asked the guard.

David said. "We're here to discuss work, we're so excited that we forget the time." There was a hint of shyness in his voice.

The security guard was surprised and then he said apologetically. "Yesterday, I thought there was no one left, so I locked the door. Sorry."

"No problem."

David said and left the terrace with Ella.

A morning. As soon as she entered the hall, Ella saw a giant Christmas tree placed in the middle of the aisle. On the trunk hung countless sparkling pearls. Ella thought. "Today is Christmas. No wonder the streets are bustling, the shops are all selling Christmas items.

But it seems that no one in the company is excited about this holiday. They were busy with the tenth anniversary of Anthony Corporation. The celebration is more important than Christmas. It's not that no one knows it's Christmas, it's just that they're busy. Ella still receives Merry Christmas wishes from her co-workers.

Even during working hours, Maria went out again. She held in her hand a wooden box with a bow tie. Though curious, Ella didn't care either. In the first place, her story had nothing to do with her.

Her phone is on silent mode, when someone calls, the screen lights up. She looked at Rika's name on the phone screen, wondering what Rika was calling her for. To avoid affecting everyone at work, she left the room and then answered the call.

"What's up?" Ella asked.

There was silence on the other end of the line for a minute, then a smile came and Rika's voice. After singing, Rika said. "Wishing you a Merry Christmas."

Ella was bewildered. "Only so that you called me?" Perhaps Rika is free and has plenty of time.

"Yes." Rika giggled, admitting.

Ella hung up the call, turned her back, and happened to see Maria and David standing in a far corner. Maria held the gift box to David with both hands, her eyes expectant. Turns out it was her gift to David. It was their own business, and Ella had no interest in interfering. She also doesn't want to know what happens next.

Ella returned to her office. On her way, Ella felt uncomfortable again. She knows David doesn't love Maria. But Maria is a clingy girl. She still had some uneasiness in her heart. She turned back to where they were standing but she didn't see them.

Ella returned to her office in a distraught mood. After a while, she saw Maria sadly, walking slowly into the office. Her eyes seemed to be about to cry. The gift box is still in her hand, which means David refuses. Ella feels happy. An arrogant, capable, successful person like Mari needs to experience failure and suffering. Because of that, she realized the value of this life: joy and sadness go hand in hand.

David refuses Maria's gift, which further enrages her. She squeezed the box until it twisted. And then, she glanced sharply at Ella. Ella panicked when she saw that sharp gaze.

Because today is Christmas, employees in the company can leave early. Ella received a text from David as she walked out of the office. "Merry Christmas." After reading that message, she was very happy.

Her impressions of Christmas didn't stop until the year her mother passed away. After her mother passed away, she and her father stopped celebrating Christmas. Years ago, every time it was Christmas, Ella and her parents would decorate the tree together. Along with the bells ringing at midnight, white candles are lit and placed around the dining table, and all the dishes and wines look extremely attractive under the candlelight. Christmas bells spread, dispelling the cold of winter. But, that Christmas, there was no snow in city X.

Ella expects a lot about Christmas this year. She hopes it will snow. But, the weather was just warm, and no snowflakes fell.

However, this Christmas, she has David by her side. This year's festive season will be even happier.

Ella just thought of David, there was an arm around her waist. David placed a kiss on her cheek.

"What are you thinking?" He asks.

"I'm thinking if Christmas had snow it would be more complete."

"I don't know if it's snowing this year, but, let's just look forward to it."

Ella whispered in his ear. "Since my mother passed away, my father and I don't celebrate Christmas anymore. It's sad and lonely without her."

David grabbed her shoulders, turning her to face him. "I'll spend Christmas with you every year. So you'll never be alone."

David is not a romantic man but since falling in love with her, he always surprises her and always does everything for her.

David today wears a clean white shirt, a brown shirt, and a blue scarf around his neck. The outfit is simple but still makes him beautiful and outstanding. Ella wears a red dress that matches the Christmas atmosphere.

He said he had reserved a table. A restaurant located on the riverside with shimmering lights. At Christmas, the restaurant is decorated magnificently. They sat at a table near the window. From the window, you can see the peaceful river with flower petals falling on the river surface, and street lights shining everywhere.
