The next morning, Aurora took her flight, returning to X-city. She hadn't really slept that much over the night. The worries about Adrian, his whereabouts and the high probability that he might actually be innocent.
When Patrick told her that he also embarrassed Adrian, hitting him much more than she did, she felt he had been abused and maltreated.
Once she shot him and he almost lost his life. She was surprised that he spared her, didn't call the police on her,and naturally let that case die a natural death.
She hopes Patrick keeps to his promise, to help investigate the source of that scandal and try searching for Adrian in any place possible he feels he might be hiding himself.
Once she arrives at X-city,she will tell Santiago everything. He would be willing to help out. But how can her fragile emotions take it, if it turned out to be that, he knew nothing about the scandal?
True to his words, Patrick searched the entire New Jersey for Adrian but he wasn't found. He paid special people to locate his whereabouts, but none of them brought him a positive answer
The hotels owned by Adrian himself were searched to know if perhaps he was hiding in one of them but he wasn't found. Richard was busy searching for him and Patrick was doing the same.
The both arrived at a dead end; no news about Adrian Lester. Richard couldn't handle the conglomerate like Adrian. A few days of acting was wearing him out, making them lose chunks of contracts.
Richard kept Clem by his side. He had worked with Adrian for so many years and would definitely know a few things about his boss' activities.
He went to Adrian's home office, and saw a lot of files that needed attention. Many were long overdue while some of it, he doesn't understand how or what to do next about it.
To some that Clem can explain, he did. But to others he couldn't, Richard was handicapped. Now, the conglomerate will suffer economically and financially. This is a sure way to a setback.
It only means that something was wrong somewhere. Adrian doesn't joke with the activities of the company. But to have gone away for so long without looking back, something isn't right.
Meanwhile in X-city, Aurora only talked with Santiago. They both agreed to investigate the whole thing and a few days later, they found out that the scandal broke out from a place in New Jersey.
Santiago had men go to New Jersey to find out and they discovered that it came from an old dilapidated structure at the extreme end of the city.
The house was an abandoned structure. The owner was a poor widow who passed away many months before the incident happened. They needed to investigate and know who lives there.
Men lurk around there, hiding and waiting until one evening they see a young man, dressed in a cloak, get to the building, glancing around to ensure none was watching, before stepping in.
The men saw him, signal to each other and suddenly,they all stepped out of the shadows and charged towards the building.
Now, there's a misunderstanding between Richard and old man Lester. The older may blame his son telling him how he soon had turned his back on Adrian without being sure of what his son was capable of doing.
“No woman in this house, and no Adrian. Are you really the father of that boy Patrick? Did he not know that he should pay a courtesy visit to me as his grandfather?
It was for his sake, you got even with Adrian, a boy you nurtured and raised from birth, you suddenly realised that he should never have been born.
I want to know the whereabouts of my grandson. Nothing must happen to that boy, do you hear me, nothing must happen to Adrian!” Grandfather quarreled.
“I'm still putting things together. Since we couldn't find Adrian in New Jersey, I'll pay people to search for him in the surrounding cities and states. He might just be somewhere, away from us.
As for Patrick, don't talk about him to me again. He'd refused and rejected the truth of being a part of this family. I'll also ensure that I live with that consciousness” Richard explained.
No one is more concerned about Adrian than himself. He's the treasure of an inestimable price, he'd got. He had been feeling worried dead about him already.
“I hope you don't end up losing on both sides” grandfather Lester snapped at him. The son he'd always known was gone away from him and the one he suddenly realised that he had, did not accept him.
He just hoped when he would be dying, he would have a grandson by his grave side. But within him, he knows Adrian is not dead, no son in his bloodline can succumb to death by suicide.
He'd only severed ties with his dad and family as a whole. But someday, he wished he would set his eyes on him before he goes to join Mara in the great beyond.
The young man inhabiting the dilapidated structure was apprehended. There was a laptop with him, a strong source of service provider that cannot be easily linked to his location and spot of operation.
It didn't take long before Santiago Blake got the information from the men he hired. The young man opened up to the scandal. He did what he was paid for.
He had told them that he received a large sum of money from someone and the instructions followed. He did exactly that,he holds no grudge with anyone just making a living.
After much interrogation, they couldn't proceed because the culprit has no more information to give. Though he was detained, he couldn't give any more information.
The transaction evidence was asked and the young man readily gave it up. The investigation continued from there and less than twenty four hours later, the Link to the transaction was traced to X-city.
“What's going on, Santiago?” Aurora asked, sitting with her brother in his home office. Now, everything was returning to X-city, this is more confusing and unexpected.
“I don't know yet,but I guess, we're getting closer now than when we started,” Santiago replied, his gaze still fixed on his computer screen.
