Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 49

Ch. 49 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

"Mr. Lowe, my mother didn't think too much when she said those words. You have been generous. Please don't take those words to heart. Well ... I find Ms. Chapman very familiar.

"Seven years ago, my adopted sister suddenly went missing. My sister's face was somewhat similar to Ms. Chapman's face." Brandon said with a strange tone and looked at Marilyn with a fake smile.

Marilyn was not afraid at all as she looked at Brandon's eyes that were filled with ridicule coldly and indifferently.

It sounded that in Brandon's memory, his adopted sister got lost.

What a ridiculous reason!

Malcolm raised his eyebrows and smiled. His tall and elegant figure slightly moved before Marilyn. He was like a mountain that no one could push down, protecting Marilyn firmly.

Malcolm was invisibly protecting Marilyn with his actions and words.

Marilyn was very grateful to Malcolm for righting wrongs for her.

Malcolm kept saying coldly, "Mr. Chambers, you must be joking. I have never been generous. If you gossip behind my back, I don't mind. Nothing will happen.

"But Mrs. Chambers said that nonsense to me and the words will sow discord between my employees.

"Ms. Chapman is very important to the operation of our company. If she leaves our company because of Mrs. Chambers's sarcasm, the Lowe Group's business worth dozens of millions of dollars might fail. Mrs. Chambers, you would be the one to blame then!"

Malcolm's voice was soft and gentle and it was beating the hearts of three Chamberses, whose hearts started to hurt more and more as Malcolm spoke. They even breathed quickly.

Margie kept the same action in a daze. She froze as she saw Malcolm move his sexy lips in disbelief.

Margie never imagined that her sarcastic words would make Malcolm wouldn't let her go.

Malcolm even charged her for the possible loss of tens of millions. Margie instantly felt a sense of humiliation spread throughout her body.

Even though Margie had been in business circles for many years, she did not dare to go against this young genius in front of her. Malcolm held the lifeline of the entire clothing industry in Fielddell. Even the Chambers family had to rely on the annual order form of the Lowe Group.

The smile on Sergio's elegant face had disappeared.

Marilyn lowered her head slightly and narrowed her eyes. She wanted to laugh but did not dare to do so.

Malcolm's words were powerful enough to rout someone.

What happened just now made Marilyn believe that.

In Marilyn's impression, Margie had never been so humiliated before. She was always condescending.

When Margie looked at Marilyn, she would always raise her chin like she was looking at a criminal.

In Margie's eyes, Marilyn was like a criminal.

The three Chamberses were completely dumbfounded by Malcolm's words.

Brandon was the first to come back to his senses. He swallowed his saliva and smiled flatteringly at Malcolm.

"Mr. Lowe, I'm sorry. I apologize to you on behalf of my mother. I promise you that she will never say such words again. Mr. Lowe, please forgive her this time." Brandon's tone of flattery was completely different from the arrogant him just now.

Malcolm lowered his head slightly and gave a half-smile, which was as cold as ice.

Malcolm did not look at Brandon. Instead, he shifted his gaze to the pale and embarrassed Margie and said in a pitiless voice, "You should apologize to Ms. Chapman, not me."

Some people know they can't have too much of a good thing when they are with businessmen.

But that was not who Malcolm was.

Malcolm took Lynn very seriously. Although he had not yet confirmed that Marilyn was Lynn, he felt the odds were good.

After searching for so many years, Malcolm thought Marilyn was the most likely person to be Lynn.

Malcolm cared about Lynn so much that he couldn't watch her being bullied by others.

When Margie was looked at by Malcolm like that, she instantly understood what Malcolm meant. Malcolm wanted Margie to apologize to Marilyn.

Margie didn't want to apologize to Marilyn at all.

Margie despised Marilyn.

Margie felt Marilyn owed her a lot.

However, as Marilyn Chapman refused to admit that she was Marilyn Chambers, Margie could do nothing.

After all, Margie knew nothing about Marilyn Chambers except Marilyn Chambers's appearance.

However, Margie knew that Marilyn Chambers was allergic to mango and pineapple.

Margie decided to verify it if she had the chance.

But today Margie had to get herself out of trouble first.

As Margie had been suffering for many years, she could take temporary setbacks. She didn't want to lose that large sum of money because of herself.

Margie didn't think it was too hard to apologize.

Margie gracefully took a step forward and looked at Marilyn. With a smile on her face, Margie said, "Ms. Chapman, I'm sorry. I made a slip of the tongue. You won't take what I said to heart, will you?"

Marilyn could size up the situation, but she was angry when she saw Margie.

Marilyn said, "Mrs. Chambers, I heard you traded your adopted daughter for a deal of 2 million dollars seven years ago..." Marilyn then suddenly stopped talking as if she had said something wrong. Marilyn looked a little guilty. Looking at Margie's awkward smile, Marilyn smiled evilly. The tone Marilyn raised was a mockery of Margie.

"Mrs. Chambers, I am sorry. It was a slip of the tongue. We are even now."

"Where did you hear this news from? Are you slandering me?" Margie finally couldn't hold back her anger. Her graceful face, with its delicate makeup, was distorted in a somewhat ugly way when she lost control of her emotions.

If this matter were to spread in the upper-class society, it would be disastrous.

Malcolm looked sideways and saw the strange look in Marilyn's eyes. He felt that she should be upset because she revealed her own scars.

Marilyn, however, smiled and said apologetically, "Mrs. Chambers, I already said that it was a slip of the tongue. Since it is not true, there is no need for you to be so nervous."

Margie was about to speak when Marilyn's phone suddenly rang.

Marilyn looked at the caller ID and found it was a call from Roland.

Marilyn smiled apologetically at Malcolm and walked to the side to answer the phone. "Roland!"

"Lynn, the Chambers family is throwing its shares," Roland said happily.

Marilyn looked up and glanced at Margie who was angry but could not vent her anger. With a bright smile on her face, Marilyn said, "Roland, is the money I gave you enough? If it is enough, buy all the shares."

"Lynn, I also have some money. I will use my money to buy the shares if your money isn't enough. You can return it to me when you have money in the future." Roland knew Marilyn wouldn't borrow money from her easily, so Roland offered to lend it to Marilyn.

"Alright! Roland, thank you!" Marilyn said gratefully.

"Then treat me to dinner tonight. After dinner, let's go to view the house. It's your style." Roland took the opportunity to make a request.

"OK! You decide where to eat." Marilyn agreed to the request without hesitation.

"Alright! I'll pick you up after you get off work! I'm hanging up!"

Marilyn smiled and hung up the phone. Then she walked up to where she was before.

Malcolm looked at Marilyn and said, "Ms. Chapman, let's go back to the company! It's almost time to work!"
