Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 51

Ch. 51 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

It had to be said that the reason why Malcolm's company could rise in three years and become the biggest listed company in Fielddell lay in that he had attached great importance to every production procedure and all his workers.

The efficiency of the company was very high. Therefore, working there was a big relief for Marilyn.

After checking the colors, Marilyn used her phone to take a picture of the color plates.

This was for later confirmation.

Seeing this, Billie realized that Marilyn was meticulous.

Yet Marilyn did this not only for being meticulous but also for not to be framed.

She had been framed by others many times after coming to work in the company.

She had already learned her lessons.

And she was a quick learner in this aspect for she had been cautious since she was a child, and it was not a bad thing.

Marilyn seldom cared about others' criticism for she knew what she wanted, and it took courage and decisiveness.

She believed that actions and perseverance were more useful than complaints and grievances.

She had already realized that fashion design was the passion of her life.

At five o'clock, Marilyn got off work on time.

She walked out of the office with Billie, only to meet Sergio.

He came over to Marilyn with one hand in his trouser pocket. He had a handsome face and thick black brows. He looked at Marilyn with an elegant smile, "Ms. Chapman, Mr. Lowe wants you to go to his office." He said slowly with his low voice, which was a little hoarse.

When Billie heard this, a trace of jealousy flashed across her eyes.

Billie knew that it was after work time, so Malcolm must ask Marilyn to his office for private issues rather than business stuff.

Marilyn glanced at Sergio, thinking about the purpose of Malcolm.

Marilyn nodded with a smile as a reply. Then she walked gracefully to Malcolm's office with her 8cm high heels while Billie was watching with jealousy.

Marilyn knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Malcolm's voice was calm.

Yet it made Marilyn feel uneasy. She took a deep breath, pushed the door open, and walked in calmly.

Malcolm was concentrating on writing. His serious expression made him look more charming. His movements were very elegant.

The sunlight that came in through the French window cast a faint golden light over him, making him look as mysterious as a deity.

He slightly lowered his head, showing the line of his statue-like handsome face. The harsh angles of his face added more unspeakable coldness in him, yet it still made people want to approach him.

It seemed that Malcolm had felt Marilyn's gaze, he suddenly raised his head and caught Marilyn's startling eyes, and Marilyn had no time to move her eyes away.

Then Malcolm's lips gradually widened. He smiled, and his voice was filled with a rare gentleness. "Oh, Lynn, please be seated!"

Marilyn was slightly annoyed by him because she didn't want him to call her nickname.

They were not so close and she didn't like him calling her so intimately in the company. She didn't know why he called her so.

But Malcolm ignored her annoyance and swore in his heart.

"If you are really Lynn, then you belong to me. No one can take you away from me," Malcolm vowed to himself.

Marilyn had already stolen his heart during the several days they spent together.

Marilyn did not say anything. She walked to sit on the leather sofa, quietly waiting for Malcolm to finish his work.

Malcolm glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, smiled, and wrote faster.

Five minutes later, Malcolm elegantly closed the document.

He looked up at Marilyn with a smile. He saw her sitting on the sofa quietly and obediently. The coldness in her was nowhere to be seen now, instead, she looked peaceful.

Marilyn also looked at him. She looked calm from her eyes but was indeed very nervous. She felt Malcolm's smile very weird.

She smiled politely and asked, "Mr. Lowe, what can I do for you?" Marilyn still had to go see Roland and then view the house with him!

"Yes, come here!" Malcolm got up and walked to the table next by. He picked up two cups of coffee that he had prepared and handed one directly to Marilyn Instead of placing it in front of her.

Marilyn smiled and took the coffee. It was at a good temperature but she did not like drinking coffee. She took a sip and placed it on the table.

Malcolm gave a glimpse at Marilyn secretly. He gracefully sat opposite her and took a sip of coffee. The taste of the coffee remained the same and it was his favorite. It was not too sweet, but not bitter, either.

Malcolm kept silent. His silence made Marilyn feel a little uncomfortable.

However, Marilyn was still waiting for Malcolm's next words.

But Malcolm did not speak a word for long. Marilyn subconsciously raised her eyes and ran into Malcolm's eyes. He was sizing her up so deeply that he seemed to make efforts to uncover all her secrets.

Marilyn was shocked. Why was Malcolm looking at her in that way?

Malcolm always gave her a strange feeling.

Was there something wrong with her appearance?

But Marilyn knew herself well. She would never be too confident to regard that Malcolm was lost in her beauty.

Malcolm lowered his voice and smiled elegantly. "Lynn, I haven't thanked you for saving my life yet. Let me invite you to dinner tonight to show my thanks."

Marilyn didn't expect that he was keeping it in mind.

Moreover, Malcolm called her Lynn, which made her feel weird.

Marilyn apologized to Malcolm, "Mr. Lowe, I'm sorry. I have an appointment tonight. As for the matter you mentioned, forget about it. I did it for no purpose. Anyone else would make the same decision!"

"You have an appointment. What a pity!" Malcolm looked disappointed.

He suddenly remembered that when he came back at noon, Marilyn received a call. Was it Roland?

Malcolm suddenly felt unhappy at his thoughts.

Malcolm turned his eyes to Marilyn's delicate and lovely face. He picked up the gold-gilded pink invitation on the table and handed it to Marilyn. "Lynn, there will be a banquet at the Fiesta Hotel tomorrow night. Be my plus-one and attend the banquet with me." Malcolm lowered his voice but showed off his determination.

Marilyn suddenly looked at him and was shocked, "Me? Are you asking me to go to the Fiesta Hotel with you?"

Marilyn had painful memories about the Fiesta Hotel.

If it were not for the banquet there seven years ago, she would never find out the disgusting truth about Margie and Sandra.

"Yes!" Malcolm watched Marilyn suddenly turning painful and anxious. He couldn't help showing his sympathy for her.

It was Marilyn at the night at the Fiesta Hotel. Malcolm had already investigated it.

Julian had already taken Arturo's hair and Malcolm's for a test. And he would soon find out the results.

Marilyn blinked and took a deep breath. She lowered her head and avoided Malcolm's eyes. "But attending parties and joining your social life are not my job."

Marilyn didn't like to join Malcolm's social life. She never joined the social life of the Chambers family. They would only bring Sandra and Brandon.
