Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 47

Ch. 47 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Velma quickly pulled Debbie's arm and smiled mischievously. "Mom, I was too anxious and said the words without thinking. I always remember what you taught me. I will definitely get the recognition of Malcolm with my competency."

Debbie smiled. She didn't pay much attention as she thought Velma was just putting her foot in her mouth. "Let's go home and have breakfast with your father."

Debbie was not angry as well. After all, she knew Malcolm's temper.

She felt that Malcolm was being nice enough today by speaking much more than he usually did.

Malcolm had never given up searching for Lynn, as well as the Remington family.

Debbie hoped she could wake up one day seeing her daughter again.

The mother and daughter got up and left. They were chatting as they walked out of the Lowe Group.

Velma looked back at the building behind her with her eyes glittered strangely.

There would be a banquet tomorrow night, and Velma has already devised a plan with Yvonne. "Malcolm, you must marry me then." Velma thought.

After that, she would not be a lovesick fool anymore.

And then Velma could establish her status in the Remington family after she married Malcolm.

A flicker of darkness crossed Velma's face. She held onto Debbie's arm and left with a confident look.

Malcolm just got a text message from Julian when Malcolm came out of the building. Julian and the others were in a pizza shop behind the company.

Malcolm tilted his lips and walked briskly towards the restaurant. He was surprised that Jeannie liked pizzas.

In fact, Jeannie was known for loving pizzas.

If someone wanted to treat her to a meal, she wouldn't choose to eat steak or something fancy.

Jeannie would be happy to drink wine with pizzas.

That was what Jeannie was like. She was a frank and open person. She was not pretentious, and she was very loyal.

She didn't care what others thought of her.

Jeannie was even closer with Marilyn than with her own sister.

Marilyn and Jeannie were very similar in this way, which was why the two of them got along so well.

Julian booked a private room. The room was large with a great environment.

The melodious light music was very comfortable and enjoyable to listen to.

Marilyn and Jeannie chatted happily, and Arturo occasionally interjected a word or two.

Sergio and Julian sat at the side, feeling awkward. They wanted to speak but failed to join the conversation.

Julian and Sergio were both from influential families in Fielddell. Wherever they were, they would be the center of attention.

Women always gathered around them and asked them all sorts of questions.

This was the first time women left them out during social engagements.

Jeannie paid no attention to Julian and Sergio at all.

Nobody was as important as Marilyn and Arturo to her.

Jeannie held Marilyn's arm. "Lynn, I have gained some weight recently. Take my measurements later and make me a few pieces of recent staples. I want them red and black."

Marilyn smiled, "Sure, I happened to have a sudden inspiration a few days ago with a series of couture. I'll do the sketching tonight and make some dresses for you in a few days."

All these years, Jeannie's clothes mainly were specially designed by Marilyn for her, and those could not be bought in any store. Jeannie was always striking whenever she wore those outfits.

Anyone could have an impression of Jeannie with just a glance.

"Lynn is the best!" Jeannie rubbed Marilyn's arm happily. Their intimacy made all the men jealous.

Julian's gaze had constantly been falling on Jeannie.

Julian felt that Jeannie was somewhat different from any other woman he had met. Although Jeannie was arrogant, she was not spoiled.

Jeannie was indifferent, but she was also elegant and generous. More importantly, Julian was always attracted by the charm she showed silently.

Unfortunately, Jeannie had a boyfriend.

Julian lowered his head slightly, his eyes filled with disappointment.

It was a pity.

Before Julian's love for Jeannie had even sprouted, it was ruthlessly cut off by Jeannie's words "I have a boyfriend."

Julian didn't want to give up, but he had to accept the fact no matter what.

When Sergio saw that the water had boiled, he carefully placed the vegetables into the pot.

Sergio did it slowly.

Arturo was drinking tea while listening seriously to the conversation. Even though he was still a little boy, he was very calm and steady.

Suddenly, Arturo's phone rang, and his phone was in Jeannie's bag.

Jeannie took out the phone and took a look. She suddenly said happily, "Well! It's a call from Dominic."

Arturo heard it. After explaining to Julian and Sergio politely, he took over the phone and left the private room to answer the call.

"Dominic! I will go back to Goldmere with Jeannie a little later."

Just as Malcolm reached the corner, he heard Arturo's happy voice.

"Have you signed the contract today?" Dominic, who was on the other side of the line, asked in an emotionless tone.

"Yes! The contract has been signed. I will finish it before school starts. Since I will go to school in Fielddell, I can work on weekends or after school. It is not easy for Jeannie to support the family alone. I'm glad that I can share her burden."

"That's good! Grandma is waiting for your news. I will tell her! Bye!" Dominic hung up the phone.

Arturo looked at the phone doubtfully. Why was Grandma concerned about his contract today?

Without much thought, Arturo went back to the private room.

Then, Malcolm walked out of the corner.

Malcolm looked sullen. He heard Arturo say "I'm glad that I can share her burden."

Arturo's last sentence lingered in Malcolm's ears like a spell.

Malcolm suddenly panicked. Today, he had to get Arturo's hair.

Doing a DNA paternity test was the fastest way.

When he reached the door, Malcolm calmed down and pushed the door open. His tall figure was shockingly imposing.

Malcolm walked slowly but steadily. Just his back could fascinate everyone.

As soon as Malcolm came in, Marilyn and Jeannie stopped talking.

Jeannie smiled without much enthusiasm, and she teased, "Mr. Lowe, you just come in time. The dishes are just ready."

Malcolm glanced at the seat. There was a vacant seat beside Marilyn, and Arturo was sitting next to Jeannie.

Malcolm sat down beside Marilyn with a satisfied expression and then he said indifferently, "Many thanks to Ms. Harrison and Arturo for inviting me!"

After Marilyn heard this, she suddenly remembered what Arturo had just said. She wondered if Malcolm met Arturo yesterday.

However, Marilyn did not ask after reflection.

Jeannie looked at Malcolm and said with a smile, "Thanks for your compliments. Mr. Lowe, you are our funder. We can't afford to offend you! Come on, raise your tea as a substitute for wine. Let's have a toast and wish us pleasant cooperation."

No one would dislike Jeannie's openness and directness.

Malcolm raised his teacup at her, saying with a smile, "I'm looking forward to a pleasant cooperation!"

Few people drink wine at noon as they had to go to work in the afternoon. Driving while intoxicated would bring on-the-spot fines. It would also do no good for one's business, and that was the most vital thing.

Therefore, with tea as a substitute for wine, everyone had no objections.
