MRS. COLE'S POV
I have never and till now, still not understood men. The slightest things completely draw their attention. Way back in high school I used to date a guy named Bernard Angelis who happens to be Luna's father now. We used to be so much in love until Luna's mother, Diana Ross showed up. I lost Angelis to Diana within the twinkle of an eye and till today they are still happily married.
Angelis and I had gone quite a long way in our relationship but when Diana came, he forgot all that we had shared and decided to be with her. He dumped me for her and now their daughter is pregnant with my son's child. She is trying to snatch my son away from his fiancé, Sophia just the way her mother snatched her father from me.
That is not going to happen on my watch. First, I love Sophia very much. I have watched that young woman metamorphose from a newborn to a toddler, a teenager and now an adult. I know her flaws and perfections and I love her all the same. I have always rooted for her and Ace to end up together and that is going to happen. That Luna of a girl cannot come in the way of this union I am trying to create. I will do anything in my power to make sure that she doesn't succeed in winning Ace over. That son of mine doesn't even know what he wants.
For crying out loud, why do men never know what they want?. Ace has known Sophia all his life, he has dated her for quite a long time now and they are even engaged but a total stranger is already taking all his time and attention just because she claims to be pregnant for him.
Pregnancy which was as a result of a one night stand! That is what my son is risking his relationship with Sophia for!
Blasphemy!
Luna is going to win this battle over my dead body. She has grown up to be a man snatcher and a relationship wrecker just like her mother but she is not going to win.
It's either she loses that baby and my son forgets about her or she goes very far away from him with it.
The moment I step into Diana's office and she sees me, she gets up abruptly from her chair with a bewildered expression plastered on her face.
I am happy that she is shocked to see me.
"Hello Diana" I greet with a forced smile.
"Christine! Wow.... What a pleasant surprise. Please have a seat"
"Thank you" I say as I make myself comfortable on one of the black sofas in her office and she comes to join me. I do a brief scan of the office and I must say that I am impressed. It is quite professional and extremely well kept. Her office table is stacked with piles of papers and laptops and iPads.
She is head of the Human and Resource Department in her husband's billion dollar company and has also got a huge amount of shares in it. She has acquired quite a lot for herself.
Well... we all have.
"What can I offer you?" She asks cheerfully and I feel like hitting her hard across the cheek. I hate the fact she is acting all sweet and charming like we have ever been friends before. She stole my man in high school so we were never in good terms because of that. Right now she's acting all sweet and hospitable like some flawless queen.
Flawless Queen my ass!
"I don't want anything Diana, I only came here to talk to you about something"
"Really?, and what could that be?"
"Why all this pretense Diana, you do know why I am here, don't you?"
"I'm afraid I don't"
"So you mean to tell me you don't know that your daughter, Luna, is pregnant for my son, Ace as a result of a one night stand?" I spit out carelessly with a creased brow and I see her cheerful expression change to a frown.
"What?" She asks in shock and it takes me off guard.
Could it really be that she doesn't know?
"You mean to me you don't know that your daughter is pregnant?"
"I know about Luna's pregnancy, it's the fact that your son, Ace is responsible for it that I don't know"
"And the one night stand?"
"That too. What is wrong with these children?, a one night stand?" She laments and I just roll my eyes
"Well it all depends on how she was trained" I say carelessly and she turns to look at me.
"If you think I'm going to get into an argument with you about how I raised my daughter then you are wrong"
"Well than tell that whoric daughter of yours to stop using that pregnancy to steal Sophia's fiancé away from her"
"And why on earth will an engaged man get another woman pregnant?"
"I honestly do not care, all I want is for her to get out my son's life, she is nothing but bad news to him"
"Christine, talk ill about my daughter one more time and I promise to hit you so hard that you won't feel your cheeks for a very long time. Both our children have made a mistake, it is our duty to sort this out like the mature adults we are, not quarrel"
"Your daughter is tearing my son's relationship apart"
"Well if your son knew how to keep it in his pants, then he wouldn't be going through all this trouble. They are both at fault here okay , so we have to reprimand them and not call them names. No matter the fact that they are now grown ups, they are still our children and when they make mistakes, it is our duty as parents to correct them"
"Just how are we going to correct this kind of mistake? Ace is losing himself to Luna already"
"Ace isn't losing himself to anybody. The young man is just trying to take responsibility for his actions''
"By neglecting his fiancé?"
"Christine, we don't need to fight about this. By the way, even if we reprimand them or call them names, at the end of the day they will be the ones to decide how it all ends. After all they are grown ups and are now in total control of their lives. All they need from us is advice!"
"I get to decide what happens in my son's life, the only woman he is going to marry is Sophia and the only children who will bear his name will be the ones Sophia will bear for him. No bastard child will bear my son's name. I didn't come her for any Ted talk, I just came to tell you to talk to your daughter, tell her to avoid my son, if it's money she wants all she has to do is state her price and I will give it to her double just so she could leave my son and his fiancé in peace. It's either she leaves on her own or I force her to do so and she is not going to like my method. Just tell her that for me"
I warn sternly as I carry my handbag and exit the office leaving her dumbfounded.
I meant everything I said in there. It's either Luna leaves Ace on her own or I will force her to do so and when I do, there will be consequences.
