Hank didn't reply. He wheeled himself and stopped at room 2508. He looked back at Sara's flabbergasted expression, feeling amused. He smiled and asked, "Aren't you going in?"
Sara was stunned. Something struck to Sara, she asked cautiously, "Did you purposely bring me here to visit my grandfather?"
Hank said, "Uncle told you, good children get rewards."
Sara was so happy that she was at a loss for words. Thus, she bowed to Hank twice and said, "Thank you!"
Hank was speechless at the bow, "Give Uncle a kiss if you really want to thank me. Don't bow."
Sara snorted softly. She called him 'racal' in her heart.
When she pushed open the door of the room, her grandfather was focused on reading a yellowed medical book, leaning against the head of the bed.
The Lowell family was a family that specialized in medicine. Every generations had great charisma. Although Master Lowell was already 70 years old and bedridden, he still looked energetic and wise.
He turned around when he heard someone at the door. As soon as he saw Sara, he quickly moved, trying to get off of the bed. Sara immediately ran to stop him, startled, "Grandpa, what are you doing? You're in poor health, you should not get off the bed!"
Master Lowell grabbed Sara's hand, looking worriedly at her, "Jackie, why haven't you visited for so long? Did anything happen?"
Sara used to visit every two days no matter what happened.
Sara's nose flinched at the question.
Some people tend to bottle up their suffers and sadness. However, their defence would collapse and they would be utterly "shattered" by the question when asked by someone intimate.
A young girl who was yet to turn eighteen was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulder. Looking at her amiable grandfather, tears rolled down her face uncontrollably. Master Lowell was startled and asked, "Jackie? Jackie, what's wrong?!"
Sara buried her head in her grandpa's arms like an injured animal. She could feel his bones under a thin layer of skin, as though he would break into pieces if there was a gust. However, it gave Sara an indescribable warmth and strength.
Just like when she was a child, she would hide her injured hand behind her back so that the elders would not worry about her. She shook her head and said softly, "... I haven't seen you for ages. I've just missed you so much..."
"Then why haven't you visited for so long?" Master Lowell asked.
Sara wiped her tears and said proudly, "That's because I went to a new school. Do you know Scrollania College? I got into there via a special intake. That's why I've been busy recently and have no time to visit you."
Master Lowell was stunned. Any citizens in Country A would know about Scrollania College. Knowing that Sara got into the college, Master Lowell wasn't excited.
Instead, he was worried, "I've heard every students in the college came from wealthy families. Jackie, didn't they bully you?"
Sara smiled, "I'm fine. They're very nice, just like ordinary people. Grandpa, aren't you going to praise me for being so intelligent?"
Master Lowell smiled with relief, patting Sara's head and said, "Yes, Jackie is the best. It's a pity that Grandpa is ill now, I can't prepare a delicious meal for you."
Master Lowell had a dab hand at cooking. Caroline Lowell had dexterous cooking skills too. Sara had learned from them. However, her favorite was still every dish her grandfather made.
Sara said softly, "Make it up to me when you get better then."
"Okay." Master Lowell smiled.
Sara asked in details about her grandfather's condition, amusing Master Lowell, "Jackie, Grandpa taught you all the medical skills. I know my condition well!"
Sara retorted, "You taught me that doctors couldn't treat themselves!"
Master Lowell gave in. Sara mulled over it for a while and said "You got a lot better now."
Master Lowell found it strange, "Since yesterday, all of my medications have been replaced by expensive ones. I asked the doctor if he was mistaken but he said he wasn't and that he was instructed by the family members..."
He looked at Sara and said, "Yen wouldn't be so generous. Jackie, where did you get so much money?"
The Lowell family didn't have much savings. After Master Lowell fell gravely ill and was sent to the hospital, their savings had been used up in two months. Otherwise, Sara wouldn't have been threatened by Lilly. Now, the medicine Master Lowell had been taking was replaced with better ones...
Sara was reminded of something, feeling shocked.
Could it be... Hank?
She pursed her lips. She did not want to tell Master Lowell what Yen and Lilly had done. Instead, she said, "Yes, it's me."
Hank asked with a serious face, "Where did the money come from?"
Sara felt some bitterness in her throat.
There was no way she could say that it was the patron who bought her, could she?
After a moment of silence, Sara whispered, "Don't worry. I borrowed some money from my classmate's parents. I'll pay it back by instalments."
Master Lowell sighed helplessly. He couldn't say anything to his sensible granddaughter, "You should thank her. When grandpa gets well, I will pay it back."
Sara felt funny, "What are you saying? You should be enjoying life at such an old age. I'll start looking for a job after the college entrance examination. I can pay it back. Don't worry."
Master Lowell gave in.
After chatting for more than an hour, Master Lowell urged Sara, "Alright. You should go home now or else your aunt is going to trouble you."
Sara replied, "Okay, I'll come again."
Master Lowell nodded and suddenly asked, "Did you also hire the two private nurses? Grandpa has fully functioning hands and legs. I don't need them. You shouldn't waste money."
Sara stopped walking.
...Hank was so thoughtful.
She let out a smile and said softly, "Don't worry. I can afford it. I'll keep them hired to take care of you."
"You..."
"Alright, Grandpa." She playfully winked at Master Lowell, "I'll get going. Rest well."
Master Lowell replied helplessly, "Be careful on the way home."
"Got it!"
After Sara closed the door of the room, she saw Hank was sitting in his wheelchair. The corridor behind him was empty.
Sara was unaware of what 'site- clearance' was. She just found it strange that there was not even a single person there but she did not ask anything about it.
Hank was not looking good. His eyes were ice as he looked at her. Sara was shocked. She leaned against the door while asking him in a low voice, "Master Bishop, what's wrong?"
