Chapter 52

Ch. 52 / 324 Jul 29, 2025

The four of them caught everyone's attention. Freya ignored it and introduced the renowned stadium of Scrollania College to Sara, "Although our university doesn't have a spacious stadium, it's top-notch in terms of aesthetic and facilities. However, many students in our school are not interested in sports. You'll only see a crowd here whenever there is basketball matches."

Sara nodded.

Freya continued introducing, "Our basketball team is superb. We won the champion in the city. There's probably no other university that can defeat us in Jena City."

Sara was puzzled, "Then why are there still people who are willing to play with us?"

Scarlet's and Freya's faces immediately filled with ridicule. Freya said, "You must have heard of Soya University, haven't you? They are the ones who invited our university for a match."

Sara thought before saying, "It's also a highly exclusive school?"

Freya replied, "In essence, Soya is about the same as our Scrollania College. The difference is that there is a pre-requisite to enter our school. Either your family should be particularly powerful or you have a good grade to be accepted. But Soya University is different, as long as you're rich, you're guaranteed a spot."

Scarlet sneered, "It's an ugly battlefield in there."

Sara asked curiously, "Why?"

Scarlet said, "I once saw with my eyes that their students drug a girl in a bar. At that time, our class was having a gathering, so we were hanging out there. I couldn't bear to watch it, so I ordered some people to beat up those sc*mbags. Since then, our universities have been in a feud. It was most likely it was the reason they requested for the basketball match."

Freya said, "But our school basketball team is excellent, so we don't have to worry."

They arrived at the court. As expected, it was packed to the brim. Sara grabbed Freya's arm and asked, "Did every students in the school come?!"

Freya was not surprised, "More or less. Do you like watching TV series? Let me tell you, the basketball team picks their members by appearance. Compared to playing basketball, their skills at acting suavely are much better. It's like a boy band which makes girls scream everywhere they go. It's still not as packed as it will be, you'll barely be able to move later."

Sara was wordless.

People who judged others by appearances were terrible.

Nina and William had already found seats by using Scarlet's name. When they saw Scarlet, they waved their hands in gesture of asking them to go over.

The seats were on the first row, closest to the court. There were too many people. Sara could still be hit by others even with Scarlet clearing a path in front of her.

Her body was frail and weak. She hadn't made it halfway through before she felt as though she couldn't bear it any longer. Just as she was about to grab Freya's hand, her hand was grasped by a boy's large, warm and dry hand.

Alex looked impatient. Seeing her turn her head around, he turned her head back and said, "I'll grab hold of you. Be careful and make sure not to trip."

Sara said obediently, "Okay." She heard Alex sneering behind her, "These sc*mbags, making such a big deal about it.

Crazy."

Sara was speechless.

She observed the crowd carefully and said to Alex in a serious tone, "They're all fans of the school basketball team. If they happened to hear what you just said, you will be mobbed by them!"

She had seen her many extreme fans beating passers-by from the TV series!

Alex glanced at her strangely. He smirked, "If I was beaten up by them, would you protect me?"

Sara thought for a moment and shook her head sincerely, "No, Alex, I don't know how to fight, so I'd find a safe place to hide. After they're done beating you, I can help you apply some ointment and bandage on your wound. I have a scar-removing ointment that is very effective.

Alex was wordless.

He rubbed his eyebrows helplessly, "Don't worry. Even if I call the basketball team members idiots, no one would dare lay a finger on me."

He held onto Sara's sleeve and said, "Move."

It wasn't easy to battle through the crowd to reach their seats. Sara sat down next to Freya and breathed a sigh of relief, "There are way too many people here."

Freya handed her a bottle of drink, "Well, you will be fine once you get used to it."

Alex sat down beside Sara languidly. His legs were too long for the seats in the basketball court. Sara couldn't help but laugh when she saw that. "See, there were advantages of being short!" She thought.

Lowering her head, she failed to open the water bottle even after some attempts. She frowned. Suddenly, a hand reached out and took the bottle away, opened it easily and returned it to her.

Sara took the bottle and looked up subconsciously. She saw Simon Bishop's gentle face, like it was illuminated by sunlight.

She pursed her lips, did not speak.

Simon was wearing a white sportswear. He knelt down on one knee in front of Sara and looked into her eyes, "Sara."

Sara was irritated, "What?"

Countless pairs of eyes in the basketball court looked over, there was a moment of silence. Thus, Simon's voice was particularly clear, "Sara, Can't we really... go back to the past, can we?"

Such a sentence ignited the whole basketball court instantly.

The past?! What was the past? Could it be that the school hunk had some scandalous relationship with the illegitimate daughter who had just transferred to the school?

Was the school hunk blind? Why did he like such an ugly girl?!

Sara gripped the bottle tightly with her fair fingers. She could heard the familiar sound of gossips, like venomous snakes were hissing at her. It felt as though they would turn around and inject their venom into her, causing her so much pain that she shed tears.

She didn't want to go back to the past again.

Sara shrank into the seat, hunching, as though she was protecting herself.

With thick eyelashes drooping down, she refused to look at Simon. Her voice was very soft when she said, "I told never made any promises." you, I have Pain flashed in Simon's eyes.

He had spent the past two days drowning in the numbness of alcohol. He rarely drank before, and he still could not really drink.

He knew that it wasn't good to lose himself, but he couldn't help it. In the illusion, Sara and Hank had nothing to do with each other, she was still the girl who would purse her lips and smile at him softly....

He was sober when his mother slapped him. Rose yelled, "Simon! Are you going to ruin your whole life for a woman?"

Simon took a deep breath, "Sara, I believe you're not that kind of person..."

Sara's voice was cold as never before, "I'm that kind of person."

She summoned the courage to raise her head and look at Simon, "Don't believe me anymore."
