Chapter 47

Ch. 47 / 324 Jul 29, 2025

She asked with her eyes becoming watery. Then Hank asked calmly, "Why did you cry?"

Sara breathed a sigh of relief. She thought that Hank was angry with her because she mentioned that he was her classmate's guardian. However, technically, she wasn't lying as he was Simon's uncle...

She mumbled, "I haven't seen my grandfather for so long, I was just overcome with emotion."

Hank said, "I've already hired someone for your grandfather's follow-up treatment. Don't worry about the medical expenses."

Sara was lost, "... Thank you. You're too nice to me... I..."

"I didn't even know how to repay you." Sara thought.

Hank raised his hand and massaged his forehead. Sara knew that he would have a headache from time to time, she frowned and held his hand and then slowly massaged his temper and said softly, "Rubbing your forehead frequently isn't good for your body."

Hank grabbed her hand, wanting to say something. In the end, he just let her continue by giving him a massage and didn't say a word.

The headache had certainly subsided but the annoyance in his heart was stronger.

From the moment he saw Sara smiling and talking to others in school, the devil in his heart, which had been suppressed, seemed to go against him. It kept telling him, "Kill them."

When he heard Sara crying, there was an impulse that he hadn't experienced for many years... the impulse to kill.

At that moment, he recalled the time when he was young, Mrs Bishop was still powerful, she would look down on him with her eyes filled with disgust and said, "You are a monster."

Hank knew that he was a monster, just like his mother.

He knew that the emotion was abnormal, but sometimes he simply could not control it.

He did not even want to tell Sara.

She was so timid, like dwarf hamsters, as long as they got frightened, they would retreat into their shells and never come out again.

Hank's eyes were darkened. He thought, "It is not yet the time. Not... Not the time to frighten her."

After arriving at Angelfalls, Sara decided to prepare a meal for Hank to show her gratitude.

She didn't have much idea about fancy cuisine, the dishes she made were home- cooked dishes. It was just the two of them, so she just prepared a few dishes. There were chicken soup, fettucine alfredo and a simple roasted chicken.

The soup was superb. First, she simmered chicken bones and various produce to make a golden-hued stock, and then she added meat and vegetables into it after removing the bones. It looked very appetizing.

Hank had come across many rich young ladies but none of them cooked. All they learnt was dancing, piano, singing and something like that.

The last time someone made soup for him was more than 20 years ago, when his mother was still alive.

However, Mrs Bishop's cooking skills were not very good so he only took a single sip of it.

There was some paprika on Sara's pale cheeks. Hank took a look at the dishes and sat down. Then, he pointed at his checks and said, "There's something on your face."

Sara rubbed at it, avoiding him.

Hank snickered and said, "Come here."

Sara walked over and bent down a little, letting him wipe it off for her.

Hank pinched her cheeks while holding it as he thought it was fun. Sara's skin was tender, it reddened immediately.

Hank was speechless.

Sara widened her eyes. As she was very near to Hank, her ears got red. Hank did not let go of her. She tilted her head and asked softly, curiously, "What's wrong?"

Hank wiped away the paprika on her cheek indifferently said, "Nothing."

She answered, "Oh", and then sat down. Hank looked at the red mark on her cheek and fell into deep thought.

"How could her skin be so soft? It would became red instantly with a soft pinch. Her body must be even softer. Could it be as delicate as the petals of a pink rose blooming in the snow?" He thought.

...In future, she would probably be bruised all over when she got up from his bed...

While thinking, Hank studied Sara, who was removing the fish bones from the plate.

She looked pretty but a little skinny. It would be better after she gained some weights...

After all, he was not a monster. 18 years old, she was still a minor.

Sara did not realize she just had a close call, due to his rare sense of kindness and morality. She scooped some of the fish on his plate and said, "Try it."

It was the best part of the fish. When she was having a meal with her family, it would always be reserved for the elders or children.

However, Master Bishop obviously did not acknowledge that. The meat was supple and tender. Although its taste was definitely incomparable of a five-star chef's, there was a kind of... different flavour that he couldn't describe.

Under Sara's expectant gaze, Hank remarked lightly, "Not bad."

Getting good comments, Sara was so happy that she even ate a little more than usual.

After the servant cleared the table, Sara took out a medical book to read. Bella suddenly came in and said, "Miss Martin, Madam Bishop's servant wants you to go over."

Sara was stunned for a moment, "Is there something wrong with Madam Bishop?"

Bella looked at Hank. Seeing he was not giving any response, he continued, "I think so."

"Master Bishop..." Sara looked at Hank hesitantly.

Doctors were meant to be benevolent. When it came to a patient that she had treated before, she naturally could not refuse to go.

Hank was stroking a strand of her long and black curly hair, letting it slowly fall through his fingertips. He said, "You can go if you want to."

Sara smiled instantly and replied, "Thank you."

"Where's my reward?"

Sara was used to him being shameless. After thinking for a while, she kissed him on the cheek while blushing. Before Hank could speak, her face was already so red that it was about to burst. She ran away as if she was being chased.

Hank stroked his chin and said with a smile, "The kid is quite smart."

Bella could not hold back his laughter and teased Hank, "A precious gem from Country museum was offered as a gift of appreciation last time when you helped someone out. Now a kiss could suffice?"

Hank seemed to be in a good mood. He said, "I don't like gems."

"Understood." Bella blinked his eyes and said, "You like beauties."

Hank raised his chin and instructed, "Go with her. Rose might make things difficult for her."

Bella showed a strange look on his face, nodded and said, "Okay."
