Bound By Blood

Chapter 77

Ch. 77 / 100 Jun 22, 2025

The sanctuary had grown unnervingly quiet, a stillness that pressed against Ella’s chest like a weight. It was the kind of silence that promised the calm wouldn’t last, the kind that made every sound feel sharper, every movement more urgent. She stood in the central hall, her arms wrapped around herself, the bond pulsing faintly with the brothers’ emotions—an uneasy mix of tension, protectiveness, and simmering anger.

Lucien’s sudden arrival broke the quiet. He strode into the room, his face pale but resolute, clutching a tattered, leather-bound journal in his hands. The pages were yellowed and frayed, but the intricate blood-red script that lined them still glowed faintly, pulsing as if it had a life of its own.

“I found this in Cain’s study,” Lucien announced, his voice low and clipped. “It’s her personal journal. And it explains everything.”

The others gathered quickly, drawn by the urgency in Lucien’s tone. Adrian’s icy-blue eyes narrowed as he glanced at the journal. “What does it say?”

Lucien opened the book, flipping through pages filled with detailed notes, diagrams, and symbols. “Cain’s obsession with blood magic goes far beyond anything we imagined. She’s spent centuries perfecting a ritual to fuse vampire and human bloodlines, creating a new form of magic that could grant her immortality.”

Ella’s stomach twisted as Lucien’s words sank in. “Immortality?” she echoed, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lucien nodded grimly. “And she needs you to complete it.”

Adrian’s magic flared in the room, the temperature dropping several degrees as his anger surged. “She thinks she can take Ella? Over my dead body.”

“Calm down,” Sebastian interjected, though his usual charm was absent. His golden eyes flicked to Ella, their warmth overshadowed by worry. “We need to figure out what she’s planning and how to stop it.”

Before they could say more, Cain’s voice echoed from the shadows, smooth and commanding. “Why would you want to stop it?” She stepped into the room with the same unnerving grace she always carried, her crimson-stained hands clasped in front of her. “I am offering Ella freedom. Freedom from the bond, from the prophecy, from all of you.”

The bond pulsed violently as her words landed, the brothers’ emotions crashing into Ella like a storm. Adrian stepped forward, his icy gaze locked on Cain. “You’re not taking her.”

Cain’s lips curled into a smile, sharp and dangerous. “It’s not about taking her, Adrian. It’s about offering her a choice. Isn’t that what you’ve all claimed to want for her?”

She turned her gaze to Ella, her expression softening. “Your blood is extraordinary, child. It sings with potential, with power. Together, we could reshape this broken world.”

Ella’s breath caught, the weight of Cain’s offer settling heavily in her chest. The bond surged protectively, each brother’s emotions flooding through her in rapid succession. Adrian’s possessive fury. Vincent’s quiet but fierce determination. Sebastian’s sharp-edged fear. Raphael’s quiet sorrow.

“You don’t have to do this,” Vincent said, his voice gentle but firm as he stepped to Ella’s side. “We’ll find another way. We’ll protect you.”

Cain tilted her head, her crimson-stained fingertips brushing against her chin in thought. “Protect her? You mean keep her bound to you, reliant on your bond, her every emotion tangled with yours. Is that truly protection?”

Sebastian crossed his arms, his golden gaze darkening. “What you’re offering isn’t freedom. It’s servitude to your obsession.”

Cain laughed softly, a sound that sent chills down Ella’s spine. “And you would know all about obsession, wouldn’t you, Sebastian?”

The tension in the room crackled like a live wire. Ella’s hands trembled as she stepped forward, her voice breaking through the rising emotions. “What happens if I agree to this?”

Cain’s gaze softened, her tone turning almost reverent. “You will become something more. The bond will break, and you will no longer be tied to anyone’s will but your own. But to achieve that freedom, we must complete the ritual. Your blood is the final key.”

Adrian’s fist slammed against the table, the crack echoing through the room. “Enough. You’re not laying a finger on her.”

Cain’s smile faded, her gaze turning cold. “You think you can stop me? I have been perfecting this for centuries. Your emotions, your magic, your bond—all of it is irrelevant in the face of what I can create.”

The room shook faintly as Cain’s power flared, her crimson aura seeping into the walls like bloodstains. Ella’s chest tightened as the bond pulsed harder, the connection between her and the brothers growing unstable. She clutched at her heart, gasping as the surges of anger, fear, and desperation overwhelmed her.

“Stop it,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “All of you, stop.”

The room fell silent, the bond settling into a heavy, uneasy stillness. Ella looked at each of the brothers, her gray eyes filled with both determination and uncertainty. “I need time to think.”

Cain’s smile returned, faint and knowing. “Of course, child. Take all the time you need. But know this—the longer you wait, the more unstable the bond will become. And the more dangerous it will be for all of you.”

She turned and swept out of the room, her crimson-stained hands trailing along the edge of the table as she left. The brothers stood in tense silence, their emotions swirling through the bond, but none of them spoke.
