Tabitha's POV
I gradually got used to life without my memories of the past.
There were times when I would feel empty and find myself staring blankly at a certain place for no reason.
And I still couldn't get in touch with my wolf.
But overall, I quite enjoyed my life thanks to Derek's pampering.
Suddenly, I realized that there were only a few days left before I went abroad with him.
He once told me that I used to spend my holidays traveling all over the world and had been to many places. Unfortunately, I didn't remember any of it.
I was actually pretty excited about living abroad. Deep down, I felt that I didn't wanna stay in this city any longer.
Before leaving, I suggested we go pay respects to our family. After all, we didn't know when we would be back here. Derek readily agreed.
Once winter came, Seattle practically got buried under snow. The weather was freezing, and the roads were extremely slippery.
Today, I bundled up in a thick-down jacket.
The mountain road was rough, so Derek reached out to me.
Without hesitation, I placed my hand in his palm, way less on guard than a few days ago.
My body temperature was relatively low, so when it was winter, I was always shivering.
But on this chilly day, I felt much better because of the warmth from Derek's palm, like having a fur coat wrapped around me.
Derek's POV
I blamed Tabitha's changes on her poor health, which was mainly caused by her two premature labors. Thus, I took extra care of her now more than ever.
Once I made sure there were no risks, I would let her meet Kyrian.
Even if she could never conceive again, at least we got Kyrian. So there wouldn't be any regrets.
The Black Wolf Guild had suffered heavy losses because of Tabitha, which turned the org into a laughingstock among their circles. They even put Tabitha on their blacklist.
So now, no one dared to hunt her, for fear of bringing trouble to themselves.
It often took a very long time to train someone into an elite killer. Naturally, no one would want to take that risk.
Since hiring assassins to hurt Tabitha was no longer an option, the mastermind might adopt a different approach.
Therefore, it was still not the right time to disclose Kyrian's identity.
With the warmth of my palm, Tabitha's hand finally started warming up.
The first person we paid respects to was my grandma, the former Luna of the Black Thorn Pack.
Tabitha piped up as we walked, "I've heard a lot about Luna Erin from the Omega at home.
"Back then, the Omega always advised Luna Erin to drink less cold stuff, but she would always retort, 'We should enjoy life while we still can. Or I'll regret it when I'm six feet under!'
"From the Omega's account, I could tell Luna Erin was a fun lady who doted on me."
"So today, I brought along several roasted sweet potatoes and her favorite coffee."
I listened attentively with a smile.
Arriving at the cemetery, Tabitha and I soon found Grandma's grave.
"Even though I don't remember the time we spent together, I can feel how kind and gentle she was," Tabitha said as she placed the coffee and sweet potatoes before the headstone.
"Luna Erin", she continued, "I'm here to visit you. Sorry that I forgot everyone after that car accident. I'm sure you won't be mad at me for that, right?"
I didn't say much, just arranging the flowers that Grandma liked silently.
Then, I put my hand on Tabitha's shoulder as I uttered in a low voice, "Grandma, don't worry. I'll take good care of Tabitha."
That was all I felt necessary to say.
As we stepped away from Grandma's tombstone, however, Tabitha suddenly stopped in her tracks.
I furrowed my brows, worrying that she would recall anything unpleasant.
"What's wrong, Tabitha?" I asked.
She looked up at the plum blossoms on the branches and murmured, "Someone planted plum trees here? That's strange. They look quite beautiful, though."
I immediately replied, "Well, maybe they just love plum blossoms. Come on, it's getting late. We should head over to John's grave."
As I started leading her away, she suddenly pointed at the photo on a tombstone and said, "Derek, look, she looks kinda familiar."
