Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 288

Ch. 288 / 840 May 06, 2026

Tabitha's POV

I used to think that Derek's indifference was the most chilling attitude he had towards me.

It was only now that I found his affectionate frighten me much more than his direct attacks.

I had a suspicion, but I didn't dare to say out loud that I was pregnant.

"Derek, I won't love you. Never," I said resolutely, trying to maintain my resolve in front of him.

Derek, however, didn't care. He simply responded calmly, "Tabitha, there's a long road ahead of us." The inexplicable confidence in his tone sent shivers down my spine.

Instead of arguing with him, I chose to curl up obediently. I didn't dare to push him too far.

It was totally pointless trying to reason with a madman. I might actually make things worse.

All I could do now was to lay low and wait for an opportunity until Dad recovered.

I'd try my best to live as long as I could after I gave birth.

I closed my eyes. Seeing that, Derek gently tucked me in.

He leaned over and pecked my forehead. "Tabitha, don't try to leave me. It's a stupid idea, you know?"

Though he said gently, the meaning in his words made my hair stand on my head.

The next morning, I was awakened by the chirping of birds in the mountains.

I subconsciously looked to the side and found that Derek and Kyrian were both nowhere to be seen.

I quickly freshened up in the tent and then pulled back the curtain, greedily inhaling the refreshing morning breeze in the mountains.

Not far away, Rolf got into a fight with a squirrel somehow.

He stood with his hands on his hips, looking pissed off. "You scoundrel! If you're not a coward, get down here! Stop hiding in the tree!"

There were two squirrels on the tree, one big and one small. The big one threw a small pinecone onto Rolf's head.

"Hey! Are you a squirrel or a bully? How dare you mess with me! You're toast!"

Rolf rolled up his sleeves and started climbing the tree, looking determined to have a showdown with the squirrel.

Alvin, meanwhile, was preparing breakfast. Noticing my gaze, he gently looked at me and kindly greeted me, "Tabitha."

In the distance, there were some pack guards looking around, and some of them were building small earthen stoves. The smoke was rising into midair.

As I looked around, Alvin told me, "Alpha Derek and Kyrian are in the valley ahead."

"Not my concern," I said coldly and then intentionally went in the opposite direction.

Soon, I heard a familiar voice saying, "Mommy, Mommy!"

I was throwing stones by the river. Hearing that, I turned around to look towards Kyrian.

He ran toward me quickly, but after all, it wasn't the smooth floor at home.

I stood up hastily and said, "Slow down!"

Meanwhile, I ran towards him. But it was still too late.

Holding something in his hand, Kyrian shouted, "Flowers! Flowers!"

He kicked a small stone, lost his balance, and fell heavily.

"Kyrian!" Worried sick, I quickened my pace.

Kyrian got up on his own as if nothing had happened. He ran a few steps to pick up the garland on the ground, smiling innocently.

"Mommy, flowers..." As I looked closely, I saw it clearly. It was such a beautiful garland.

The flowers were freshly picked, and they were extremely beautiful.

Kyrian anxiously raised the garland and gestured with excitement. "Daddy ... picked them."

Seeing that I was indifferent, he reached out and tugged at my dress. "Mommy ... wear it."

He kept patting his head to signal me. I squatted down quickly, and he happily placed the garland on my head.

This scene was exactly the same as in my dream, which made me feel both warm and a bit uneasy.

As a werewolf, I had a special sensitivity to dreams and omens. Did this portend something?

I was filled with doubts.
