After Divorce: Loved by the Secret Billionaire CEO

Chapter 76 Needs to be beaten up

Ch. 75 / 155 Apr 28, 2026

Ethan's POV

Rachel kissed me.

My eyes rounded in shock when her soft lips pressed on mine. It felt... Before I could even tell how it felt, she pulled away, taking a step back from me.

I could see her mouth moving nervously but I couldn't hear anything she was saying.

One minute, her eyes were filled with tears, and she was crying; the other minute, she pressed her lips on mine and then pulled away.

She took another step back and began saying something else, but again I couldn't hear her. I only wanted to have a taste of those lips again, so I took a few steps forward, grabbed her hands,, and pulled her towards myself, claiming her lips again.

At first, she neither responded nor rejected it; she just stood there, then slowly, she began responding to the kiss, drawing lines on my chest before bringing her hands behind my neck.

This was...

There were no words to describe it.

The love of my life, the only woman I have ever loved was responding to my advances.

But then again, before I could take the kiss even deeper, I felt a teardrop on my face, and then slowly she pulled away.

She was crying.

Why was she crying?

Could it be that she didn't like the kiss?

I hardly had anything to do with women back when I was in England, but I had a few flings, and I knew I was a good kisser; why was she crying then?

"Rachel... What's wrong?" I asked her but she kept her lips shut. I could see that she was trying to stop her tears, but it was just not working. Once the waterworks were out, it was hard to get them to just stop.

She was fine before she left the hospital with... Her mother!

"What did your mother do?" I asked her again, and this time, she shook her head lightly. "She's not my mother". She answered her voice really broken.

I was right. That damn woman did something.

I shouldn't have left Rachel to leave with her; I should have seen this coming.

But what could Martha say to Rachel again to get her this worked up? The last time she cried herself to sleep, what would she do this time?

I was still thinking of that when I heard the sound of the door being opened and my eyes went to the door to see Aunt Victoria coming in with the cup of tea I asked her to prepare for Rachel.

"Ms Rachel?" She said more like a question when she noticed the situation.

Rachel looked away from the both of us, wiping her tears before looking back at Victoria. She walked towards her taking the coffee in her hands.

"Thank you". She said, her voice sounding a little bit less broken before she left the room.

" What happened to her?" Aunt Victoria asked me and I shook my head.

"I don't know, but I'm guessing it has something to do with her family". I replied giving a small nod to Victoria before leaving the room.

I doubt Rachel would want to see me again today, so it would be better if I just left the house for a while. The rain had begun to disperse anyway, plus I really needed to clear my head.

"Boss". John said standing up straight and giving me a salute. My eyes widened and I looked behind to check if anyone was watching.

"Didn't I tell you not to do that when Rachel's around?" I asked raising my voice at him.

John immediately dropped his hands, giving me a low bow. "I'm sorry boss, I forgot".

I shook my head at him.

I wasn't really in the mood to scold him.

"Start the car". I ordered, getting into the back seat. John nodded while getting into the driver's seat. He started the car and drove out of the manor.

"Where to boss?" He asked once the mansion was out of sight.

" To city bar". I answered leaning into my seat while reminiscing my kiss with Rachel.

The way her lips felt on mine. I had dreamed of these happening before, countless times in fact, and it finally came true. Her lips tasted even better than what I thought it would.

I shut my eyes inhaling a sharp breath. Letting it out, my hand went to caress my lips.

Why did she have to back out?

I had thought that since she was starting to open up to me, she was starting to have feelings for me, but maybe I thought wrong.

"Boss, we're here". John announced when the car came to a halt. He got down from the driver's seat with an umbrella to open the door for me.

Walking into the bar, I looked around.

City Bar was the highest-ranking bar in town, owned by Kyle Dolan, one of the richest men in the city.

A waiter came to greet me, bowing as low as he could. " Welcome, sir; please come with me."

Judging by the way I was dressed in a black button-down shirt and designer pants, it was easy to guess that I was rich... How rich, now that would be an issue.

The waiter took me to the VIP section of the bar before getting another waiter to take my order.

" A bottle of whiskey". I ordered taking a seat while folding the hands of my shirt. I had come here to unwind and free myself, thinking about why Rachel just left like that would just make me angry and sad and annoyed.

I poured the whiskey into a glass, drowning it all in one gulp.

Then I turned around and surveyed the people. The rich and influential people were at the top, in the VIP section, while the average set of people were below dancing and shouting and screaming as they liked.

The ladies there at least had a few clothes on, while the ones here... If they were not businesswomen, they were strippers and wore less to nothing.

I poured myself another cup, and just as I was about to gulp it down, from the corner of my eyes, I saw a man beating up one of the strippers because she had spilled his drink.

I snorted gulping down the rest of the content in the glass before dropping it on the table with a loud

'bam!'

The sound was so loud it interrupted the man's little sport, and he turned to face me.

" What's your problem boy?" The man shouted with a snare glaring at me.

A smirk appeared on my face and I shrugged. " I was just watching you hit the lady and then I wondered how you would react if you were the one getting beaten like that. " I said nonchalantly pouring myself another glass.

It was dark out, and the lights in the bar were also dim so I couldn't completely make out the face of the man I was talking to, and it was no doubt that he didn't know who I was either.

The man burst out in laughter, and some of the onlookers around him joined him.

My eyebrows went up in amusement. "What's so funny?" I asked with a slight laugh myself.

" This little urchin just started sitting with the bosses and he already started making noise? Somebody needs to be taught a lesson". He said and I nodded my head.

"Indeed, someone really needs to be taught a lesson because that's not how to treat women". I said with a slight nod, agreeing with him, which provoked him to anger.

"You..." He said, clearly infuriated.

"Mr. Leo, this man needs to be beaten up." One of the onlookers said.

"Yeah, he needs to know who he's dealing with ". Another one second, and the rest nodded their heads, agreeing with him.

"Mr Leo? " I repeated trying to guess where I had heard the name before.

"How dare you say you don't know who Leo Fernandes is?" One of them exclaimed, and gasps followed.

For God's sake, why were they being so dramatic?

Leo Fernandes?

That was why the name sounded familiar; he was the owner of Fernandes Oil and Gas, the biggest oil company in New York.

That was impressive, but he was still very rude.

"Calm down, as you all can see he's clearly still a kid in the business world".

Kid? Kid?? I am 27!
