Chapter 56 This was all a ruse

Rachel's POV

I blinked multiple times to ensure I heard what Raine said correctly.

So he liked Hannah which was Ethan's sister? That made way more sense the the nonsense I had come up with in my head about him liking Ethan, but why did he bring the man up?

"If you like Hannah why were you asking about Ethan?"

Raine huffed shutting his eyes before opening then back again. "I didn't think the guy likes me very much".

Really?

My brows perked up in interest. I glanced at Marina who was leaning forward so she could hear Raine properly over the noise the wind and the helicopter was making.

Oh, talk about noise. I brought out my phone and tuned down the volume of the music from the headset, Raine was doing a better job at keeping my mind of the height and flight than the headphones anyways

"What happened? Tell us everything." I said and before I knew it, Marina flew from her seat and sat right beside Raine so she could hear him well enough.

I shook my head at her.

"Gossip monger" I muttered, which I could bet she heard because she threw a glare at me.

"Well, I known Hannah for a few years now, starting with when Jake and I did our first movie together..."

"Yeah, I know that one, I was still one of the trainees then" Marina interrupted nodding her head.

I threw a glare her way, narrowing my eyes at her.

Would you let him finish?

Marina understood because she did a sign that she was shutting her mouth and throwing away the key, I gave her a kind smile before gesturing to Raine who was just watching the both if us with an amused expression.

"I like Hannah, and for a while I opted to say as just friends with her, but that was until I spent a lot of time with Jake. I got to know her kid in the last movie we acted together before this one, and now I really like her and I want us to be more than friends, but after meeting Ethan for the first time, I doubt that would be possible without help."

I blinked trying to process what he was saying.

So, he likes Hannah, but is afraid of Ethan.

Ok... This was getting even more interesting.

"Go on." I urged.

"That was the main reason why I got so intrigued by you after we met for the first time. A week before the casting for the show, Hannah and I were talking and she let it slip that her brother had a girlfriend... "

"Wait, hold up for a bit." I interrupted with a raise of my hand. "Did she say her brother said that he had a girlfriend or was she saying it from what she noticed or something?"

If she said Ethan said it, that meant he was taking our fake relationship a bit more serious than I imagined, not like I had any problem with it. But if it was from what she noticed, it could just be her assumption.

And did he say that was the reason he met you with me? Huh? So all the looks and caring and all that bullshit was because he knew, well... He thought Ethan and I were dating and he wanted to he in my good books, so I would speak to Ethan about him, so he could date the man's sister?

This was too much to handle.

That meant he just used me!

And here I was thinking he was being nice to me because he liked me. I huffed crossing my hands on my chest and crossing my legs together.

"Hannah said when brother told her that he had a girlfriend." He said with a slight shrug, his voice showing how unsure he was of why I asked.

A smile adorned my lips as I heard his answer.

As much as I hated to admit it, it would feel nice to hear that it was Ethan who told his sister... Even if the relationship was fake, and it was mainly only me benefitting from it, hearing Ethan took our ruse personally was heartwarming.

Marina coughed bringing my attention to her.

"I zipped my lips and threw away the key because I interrupted him, but here you are diverting from the topic because you want to hear about your boyfriend." She stated narrowing her eyes at me.

I rolled my eyes at her.

Aish...

"Fine, I'm sorry..." Then I turned to Raine who was in our middle. " I won't interrupt again. Now please us, me most importantly, what did you stand to gain from me?"

Raine let out a low chuckle " I'm sure you know that by now." He murmured and Marina also nodded but I was not letting him go easy.

This was fun.

I narrowed my eyes at Raine who let out s deep sigh.

"Okay... Since I learned you were his girlfriend, I wanted you to help me talk to him. He's always so cold and distant and aloof that I find it almost impossible to do it myself, and the fact that I've only met him three times, that's if you add yesterday's meeting."

My mouth opened in shock.

Ethan... Cold? Distant? Aloof?

We're we talking about the same person perhaps?

Because the Ethan I knew was kind, helpful, and caring. Even back when he was still with his goggles he was anything but cold and aloof.

"Are you being serious? Ethan is not cold." I stated and Raine stares me dumbly.

"Of course he's not cold to you, you're his girlfriend"

I felt my cheeks heat up at his words. I turned my face away to hide my embarrassment.

This is all a ruse!

I am not his real girlfriend!

But why was I reacting this way when I know it was a fake relationship?

I coughed to hide my redden cheeks, but with the way Marina was looking at me, she already saw it.

"Ev... Even with that, Ethan is not a heartless and cold person."

"Maybe to you he's not. I've seen him, the real him. It was only for a few seconds and that was because I came to visit Hannah back in their hometown... Rachel he's scary."

I gulped at how serious he looked when he said it. He had a point though, I didn't know Ethan that well, and I was going to learn all I could about him before Marina called and this trip happened and... Holy shit, I'm in Florida.

My eyes widened as I suddenly looked out of the helicopter widow to see the one country I loved more than my city, maybe the reason was because I rarely travelled, but still I was here.

"We've arrived and we would touch down in the next thirty minutes" We heard the pilot from the radio.

"Yay... You made it." Marina smiled at me, and I smiled back.

I actually did it.

Marina turned to Raine "That meant we had you talking for hours..." Then she pointed at herself "...and I didn't even sleep." She said dramatically.

I let out a sigh as I leaned back on the chair shutting my eyes.

For the first time since I can remember, I stayed onboard an aircraft with wind flowing about through my hair. This... This was an achievement.

It meant Lana couldn't do anything to hurt me any longer and Olivia... I just showed Olivia that I wasn't to be messed with.

"Rachel... Rachel" I heard Raine call and I opened my eyes. "We'll talk about Hannah later, but for now please don't tell anyone else, especially not Hannah. She doesn't know about my feelings for her yet." He pleaded.

I nodded giving him a smile.

It was not in my place to tell anyways.

"Oh... look" Marina pointed and I looked down to see a silhouette of a woman looking up at the helicopter which was already coming down.

It was Lana.

I threw her a smile which I doubt she saw and waved my hands to her as he passed her to go land somewhere.

She was almost out of sight when I saw her fall flat on the ground and pass out.

"What the..."

Marina looked at me and I looked back at her with a shrug.

What did I do?
